NEW ALBUM SYNTHIA OUT NOW
Australian quartet The Jezabels are excited to announce a North American tour for Fall 2016! The shows will support the release of the newest album Synthia, released independently this past February via Metropolitan Groove Merchants Distribution. Plans to promote the record with an extensive tour were previously put on hold due to keyboardist Heather Shannon's ovarian cancer relapse. But cue to half a year later, she's in remission and the band is ready to make up for lost time.
'We are so thrilled to be announcing this new tour after the heartbreak of cancelling our tour earlier this year. Heather is feeling strong again after her treatment and we are all impassioned and eager to finally give SYNTHIA the tour she deserves.
We were so touched by the outpouring of support toward us over the course of this year, we cannot think of any better way to show our gratitude than bringing SYNTHIA out on the road. We cannot wait to introduce her to you all, to see your beautiful faces and to celebrate the end of this unique and challenging year.
It's going to be smashing!'
The tour begins November 9th at Los Angeles venue The Echo and will take the band across North America, with stops at SF's The Independent, Toronto's Lee's Palace, Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg and more iconic venues. See all tour dates below.
To celebrate the band's return, they have shared a new video for their single "Smile" off of the new album.
"'SMILE' IS LATENTLY FEROCIOUS, WAITING UNTIL JUST THE RIGHT MOMENT TO BITE WITH SWIRLING GUITARS AND CRASHING PERCUSSION OPERATING UNDER LEAD SINGER HAYLEY MARY'S MISANTHROPIC HOWL." -- POPMATTERS WATCH VIDEO HERE
SYNTHIA isthe third album from the acclaimed Australian band and was recorded in Sydney with producer/engineer Lachlan Mitchell. The critically acclaimed album was called by Rolling Stone "...a strong return to form. It's a dark, even menacing, record at times." Since the release of their breakout debut, Prisoner (2011), The Jezabels' Sam Lockwood (guitar), Nik Kaloper (drums), Hayley Mary (vocals), and Heather Shannon (keys), continue to earn widespread praise for their "anthemic sound" (Relix). Their follow-up album, The Brink (2014), caught the attention of Rolling Stone, Esquire, Elle Magazine and more, for a sound that Noisey called, "a bold cut of emotive, epic-pop, hinged on Hayley's sky-scaling Stevie Nicks-ian melodies."

Nick Waterhouse Announces Album, Single + Tour
NICK WATERHOUSE RETURNS WITH NEVER TWICE
OUT SEPTEMBER 30TH ON INNOVATIVE LEISURE
FALL U.S. TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
LISTEN TO THE DEBUT TRACK "ITS TIME" TODAY!
"The verses are built on the feet-shuffling groove of jazzy drums and keys as Waterhouse bewails his life's stagnation ... He refuses to sit still for long, however, as the funky refrain kicks everything into fifth gear with driving guitar riffs that bring to mind classic rhythm and blues bandstands, all decked in golds and blacks and blues." -
Consequence of Sound
"Swoony vocals that recall
jazz singers like Cab Calloway and Jack Jones, Waterhouse has been hailed as the second coming of soul, infusing a distinctly California surf-rock spin to the genre.'
- VOGUE"Waterhouse's show of intensity arrived through an incendiary combo of momentum-building saxophones...riding a grand, Spector-esque wave, punctuated with start-and-stop pacing, a love of musical space and Waterhouse's utilitarian voice singing structured three-minute rockers." - Los Angeles Times
"Waterhouse straddles the line between rock grit and smooth, sultry R&B. It's sexy, it's smart, and it's definitely worth another round in a bar in the middle of a dark and stormy night."
- Esquire
LISTEN TO "IT'S TIME" HERE On September 30th, California rhythm and blues revivalist Nick Waterhouse will return with his third full-length studio album, Never Twice. The first track off of the album was unveiled today via OUTLET, who said QUOTE. Never Twice will be released via Innovative Leisure digitally on CD and 180 gram vinyl. Pre-order information.Today, Nick Waterhouse has also announced a fall U.S. Tour. Highlights include Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn on October 8th, The Bottom Lounge in Chicago on October 4th and The Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington DC on October 12th. More tour dates to be announced soon.
With Never Twice, Nick Waterhouse returned to his original collaborator, producer Michael McHugh (Black Lips, Ty Segall, Allah-Las). McHugh was a local legend in the oft-underrated Orange County music scene that Nick grew up in. McHugh was the first person to ever put Nick on tape and in an effort to re-capture the vibrancy of the Huntington Beach scene of Nick's youth, he invited McHugh up to his current home of San Francisco to work the boards once again. Once he had McHugh on board, Nick began cold-calling his favorite players, all of whom miraculously said yes. Jazz musician Bob Kenmotsu's contributed flute, Tom Waits and Elvis Costello collaborator Ralph Carney on sax, Dr. Lonnie Smith protege Will Blades on Organ and a virtual whose who of muso legends on horns, bass and guitar. The result is an exuberant and impeccably recorded album of songs, showcasing Waterhouse's prowess as a musician and a band-leader.

William S. Burroughs "Nothing Here Now but the Recordings"

William S. Burroughs : Nothing Here Now but the Recordings LPIn 1980, Genesis P-Orridge and Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson (then of Throbbing Gristle renown) travelled to New York City to meet up at the fortified apartment, known as The Bunker, of famed beat writer and cultural pioneer William S. Burroughs and his executor James Grauerholz to starting the daunting task to compile the experimental sounds works of Burroughs, which, up until that point, had never been heard.
During those visits, Burroughs would play back his tape recorder experiments featuring his spoken word “cut-ups”, collaged field recordings from his travels and his flirtations with EVP recording techniques, pioneered by Latvian intellectual Konstantins Raudive. Throughout the next year, P-Orridge, Christopherson and Grauerholz would spent countless hours compiling various edits, each collection showcasing Burroughs sensitive ear and keen experimental prowess for audio anomaly within technical limitations.By the time 1981 came through, Burroughs had relocated to Lawrence, KS in which to escape the violence and mania of New York City life. It is in Lawrence that P-Orridge and Christopherson put the finishing touches on the record that would be known as “Nothing Here Now but the Recordings”. The album would come out in the Spring of 1981 as the final release for the shuttering Industrial Records, brought about by the dissolution of Throbbing Gristle. The album remained out of print until 1998 when John Giorno and the Giorno Poetry Systems included the album on a multi-disc retrospective CD box set compiling the majority of Burroughs seminal recordings.Dais Records is honored to have worked with the Estate of William S. Burroughs to finally reissue, for the first time since its original release in 1981, a proper album reissue of William S. Burroughs “Nothing Here Now but the Recordings” in its original vinyl format to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Burroughs. Fully remastered from the original master tapes in a limited edition of 1,000 vinyl copies.Check out the video of artist Genesis Breyer P-Orridge discussing the creation of "Nothing Here Now but the Recordings" and he/r relationship with William S. Gregory Rogove shares HOOOPS' debut (semi-NSFW) video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDaIa7a7xyU&feature=youtu.be
More here
http://noisey.vice.com/blog/premiere-hooops-against-the-wall
The song is from the debut HOOOPS EP, recorded with producer Paul Butler (The Bees, Micheal Kiwanuka, Devendra Banhart). It will be released in September, 2016 and is now available for pre-order via pledgemusic.com/HOOOPS.
Says Rogove of the clip: "The video deals with obstacles and the unwavering attempts at overcoming them. It begins with a birth and the consequential lack of coordination and physical control. Eventually, standing upright is possible, as is the shedding of early, naive skin. Regardless of this development, there are environmental obstructions and imaginary walls that restrict free movement. Finally, after pushing through, graceful dance and ecstatic movement become possible."

On September 30th Edsel records are pleased to be releasing The Complete Cathedral Oceans - all three editions of John Foxx’s seminal ambient masterpiece.
This marks the first ever vinyl release for the beautiful, elegant trilogy of Cathedral Oceans (1997), Cathedral Oceans II (2003) and Cathedral Oceans III (2005). The music is spread over five 12”s and is accompanied by 12 X 12” art print and a book containing Foxx’s stunning images and passages from his novel The Quiet Man, all of which is encased in a deluxe hardback book set. Every copy of this limited edition run of 750 is hand numbered.
First as the original frontman of Ultravox and subsequently as a feted solo artist, John Foxx is one of the most eminent exponents of electronic and ambient music. Aphex Twin, Gary Numan, Juan Atkins, The Orb, Junior Boys, Vincent Gallo, Simple Minds, Clint Mansell, Duran Duran, LoneLady and Gazelle Twin have all cited Foxx as a big influence. The avant-garde pianist Harold Budd attended a performance of Cathedral Oceans several years ago and was so moved by it that he collaborated with Foxx on two albums (Translucence and Drift Music.)
Cathedral Oceans is a project whose recording began in 1983, but the gestation period was even longer. “Cathedral Oceans started when I was kid, when I sang in a choir briefly,” Foxx told FACT.“During that time I became very interested in the way that sound worked in big spaces, churches particularly. I learned a lot of things there but I didn’t understand a lot of what I’d actually learned until later. And when I started recording I’d almost forgotten about all that until I started using echoes and reverberations, and then I realised that I could use some of that to simulate things that happened when I was singing in churches back then, and use that old knowledge of how a single voice in a massive space behaves. It really inspired the juxtaposition of old style church music with modern technology and synthesizers creating notional space, rather than real space.”
In addition to Foxx’s use of studio tech as “a cathedral in a suitcase”, the sounds were originally accompanied by photographs of buildings, statues and foliage that John started taking as far back as his time touring with Ultravox. These images were then manipulated and overlaid as videos that slowly morph into each other, gradually unfolding with the music to create the effect of a “moving stained glass window that you can sit and look at for hours.”
Alongside Shifting City - released on the same day – the first Cathedral Oceans marked Foxx's return to music after an absence of seven years. It was also his first solo album since 1985's In Mysterious Ways.

Requiem will be available October 7th, 2016 in North America on Sub Pop Records, Stranded Records in Nordic countries, and Rocket Records in the rest of the world
Sub Pop is pleased to announce the release of Requiem by Swedish psych-rock collective GOAT. Requiem is the band’s third full-length and their second for Sub Pop. The 13-track album features the songs “Try My Robe,” “Alarms,” and “Union of Sun and Moon.” Requiem finds GOAT focusing more on their subdued, bucolic ritualism than psilocybin freakouts, with a pronounced folk-rock influence pervading the album. But Goat hasn’t foregone their fiery charms—tracks like “All-Seeing Eye” and “Goatfuzz” conjure the sultry pulsations that ensnared us on 2012’s World Music and 2014’s Commune.
Requiem will be available in North America on CD / 2xLP / DL / CASS on October 7th, 2016.
Listen: “Try My Robe” (cleared to post)
Watch: Album Trailer (cleared to post)
Requiem is available to preorder now here . LP pre-orders through the Sub Pop Mega Mart and independent retailers near you will receive the limited Loser Edition on translucent red vinyl with black streaks (while supplies last).
GOAT have announced a few European shows with more dates to follow. Please find a current live schedule below.
More on GOAT:
In a culture obsessed with content, saturation, and continual exposure, it’s rare to find artists who prefer to lurk outside of the public eye. Thomas Pynchon is perhaps the most notable contemporary recluse—a virtually faceless figure who occasionally creeps out of hiding to offer up an elaborate novel steeped in history and warped by imagination—but for the crate digging audiophiles, guitar mystics, and third-eye visionaries, Sweden’s enigmatic rock outfit GOAT may qualify as the greatest modern pop-culture mystery. Who are these masked musicians? Are they truly members of a remote tribe in the Arctic community of Korpilombolo? Are their songs actually a part of their communal heritage, passed down through generations in their isolated homeland? Their third studio full-length,Requiem, offers more questions than answers, but much like any of Pynchon’s knotty yarns, the reward is not in the untangling but in the journey through the labyrinth.
Western exports may have dominated the consciousness of international rock fans for the entirety of the 20th century, but our increasing global awareness has unearthed a treasure trove of transcendental grooves and spellbinding riffage from exotic and remote corners of the planet. GOAT’s previous albums World Music and Commune were perfect testaments to this heightened awareness, with Silk Road psychedelia, desert blues, and Third World pop all serving as governing forces within the band’s sound. But GOAT’s strange amalgam isn’t some cheap game of cultural appropriation—it’s nearly impossible to pinpoint the exact origins of the elusive group’s sound. Whether or not the enigmatic collective truly claims Korpilombolo as their home, the fact that they pledge allegiance to a spot on the periphery of our maps—a spot so distant and off the grid that it feels fictitious—bolsters the nomadic quality of their sonic explorations. With Requiem, GOATcontinue to rock and writhe to a beat beholden to no nation, no state.
GOAT’s only outright declaration for Requiem is that it is their “folk” album. For the initiated, such a proclamation seems almost unnecessary—GOAT has always vacillated between electrified exuberance and unplugged tribalist hymns. But Requiem does find GOAT focusing more on their subdued bucolic ritualism than on the psilocybin freakouts. Opening tracks “Djorolen/Union of Sun and Moon” and “I Sing in Silence” both set the stage for GOAT’s rustic approach, with the guitars laying down simple chord progressions and pan flute providing the primary hooks. From those very first notes, the piper leads us down a path where GOAT relies less on acidic guitar lines and more on sun-bleached psych-pop. “Trouble in the Streets” carries all the jubilance of classic African highlife. “Try My Robe” bares the group’s signature ceremonial hip-shaking rhythms, but eschews guitar for a mandolin line that would make John Paul Jones proud. But GOAT hasn’t completely foregone their fiery charms—tracks like “All-Seeing Eye” and “Goatfuzz” conjure the sultry heathen pulsations that ensnared us on their previous albums.
Perhaps the most puzzling aspect of Requiem comes with the closing track “Ubuntu”. The song is little more than a melodic delay-driven electric piano line, until we hear the refrain from “Diarabi”—the first song on their first album—sneak into the mix. It creates a kind of musical ouroboros—an infinite cycle of reflection and rejuvenation, death and rebirth. Much like fellow recluse Pynchon, GOAT doesn’t offer up any explanations for their strange trajectories. But like Pynchon, they have managed to create a world of their own where the line between truth and fiction is so obscured that all you can do is bask in their cryptic genius.
What people are saying about GOAT:
“GOAT's second album balances all that joy with the darkness of krautrock: The band Can and its minimalist excursions come to mind, but then there are also moments that would fit comfortably as an artifact from the first psychedelic era circa 1968. The song titles on Commune ("Talk To God," "Goatchild," "Goatslaves," "Gathering Of Ancient Tribes") tell a story, even when it's hard to make out the words. Throughout, the album's strong, clear vibe positively calls out for listeners to don face paint and grab a cowbell — or even a tambourine.” [First Listen] - NPR MUSIC
“...Frantic percussive combination of acid-spiked psych-rock, groove-centric Afrobeat, dazed metal, euphoric disco, and unearthly funk.” - Stereogum
“...A psychedelic rock ritual of rhythm, motion, hypnoticrepetitionand ecstatic drive.” [Live review] - New York Times
“Hide From The Sun’ is a slice of "proto-metal fuzz", successfully pulling off a fusion of tabla and sitar with hard rock, which in other hands could be a hazardous combination” [“Hide From The Sun”] - The Quietus
"The multi-dimensional, interstellar journeys on Commune aren't ones that lose you, but ones to get lost in" [Commune] - Pop Matters
"Commune is fantastic. It is brilliant. It is lively. It is simply Goat..." [Commune] - Echoes and Dust
On Commune, GOAT takes listeners on perilous journeys to the unknown, to crossroads of ancient tribal significance, and, of course, to the doorstep of the gods themselves." [Commune] -PASTE
