Kimbra releases new song "Sweet Relief" + video

KIMBRA RELEASES BRAND-NEW SONG - "SWEET RELIEF" - AND VIDEO
TRACK IS KIMBRA'S FIRST NEW MUSIC SINCE 2014 ALBUMTHE GOLDEN ECHO September 30th, 2016 - Grammy-Award winning pop singer Kimbra releases a brand-new song, entitled "Sweet Relief," today via all digital service providers. The track was written by Kimbra and London producer and artist Redinho, and produced by Redinho, Kimbra, and co-produced by Andrew MauryLISTEN TO "SWEET RELIEF" Apple / iTunes / Google Play: smarturl.it/SweetReliefKimbraSpotify: http://smarturl.it/SweetReliefSpotify "'Sweet Relief' came from a season of experimentation where I took time to work with some upcoming artists and producers that I love," says Kimbra, who is now based in New York City. "I'm a big fan of Redinho's work. We made this track together in London. It highlights our shared love of warped funk and groove royals like Prince and Janet Jackson. For me, the song explores the push and pull of human desire for intimacy, the tension and power of touch, and a liberation of the senses. I'm about to start recording my third album, which is already going in new directions for me, but I really wanted to share this song before I embark on that new endeavor."  WATCH "SWEET RELIEF" VIDEOsmarturl.it/SweetReliefVideo This is Kimbra's first new song since the New Zealand-born singer and songwriter released her second album,  The Golden Echo , in 2014, though she released the single "Goldmine" from the album in 2015, and has been featured on songs by Mew, Bilal, Electric Wire Hustle, Great Danes, SLOWOLF, Big Black Delta, and OWSLA artist What So Not in the past two years. She also performed a tribute to David Bowie with David Byrne and The Roots at the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and at the Prince tribute concerts at First Avenue in Minneapolis in September. Kimbra's  2011 debut,  Vows , bowed at No. 14 on the Billboard Top 200 and was certified platinum in Australia and New Zealand. Kimbra exploded into the public consciousness that same year with "Somebody That I Used To Know," a duet with Gotye that earned her Grammy Awards for "Record of the Year" and "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance." The song topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 2012 and was the best-selling song of that year in the U.S. It has sold more than 13 million copies. Kimbra enters the studio next month to record her third album with Grammy Award-winning producer John Congleton.   www.kimbramusic.comhttps://www.facebook.com/kimbramusichttps://www.youtube.com/user/kimbramusichttps://twitter.com/kimbramusichttp://instagram.com/kimbramusic#http://kimbramusic.tumblr.com/

Today, alt-electro pioneers Empire Of The Sun released "To Her Door," a song they recorded with Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, who contributed guitar and backing vocals. The track - which is from Empire of the Sun's new album,  Two Vines  - premiered earlier this week on NPR's "Songs We Love."" To Her Door" can be streamed on Spotify HERE and the animated static video can be viewed HERE.Empire Of The Sun will perform on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" next Tuesday, October 4.  Two Vines  will be released on October 28 via Astralwerks. The pre-order is underway HERE. Beginning today, fans who pre-order the digital album will instantly receive "To Her Door" plus "High & Low," "Two Vines" and Manny Marroquin's remix of the band's Platinum hit  " Walking On A Dream."NPR praised Empire Of The Sun's "glistening collaboration with longtime Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham...Sonically, 'To Her Door' reflects Fleetwood Mac's warmest records - such as "Hold Me" or "Gypsy," which overflow with richness." "'To Her Door' started with us just improvising in the studio with Lindsey," explainsNicholas Littlemore, who co-pilots Empire Of The Sun alongside Luke Steele. "After the first jam, which was probably about an hour, we turned up his parts and there were so many beautiful gems. You could hear all of the years of playing that he's done withFleetwood Mac coming through. That was quite early on, so that was a big inspiration for us." Buckingham says of the experience, "I loved working with Luke and Nick. Their process was open and collaborative, and their balance of sensibilities between pop and art is beautiful. I was glad to have contributed!"
With  Two Vines , the Australian band invites listeners to enter the jungle paradise that marks the third remarkable age of the Empire Of The Sun. The album's first single,"High & Low," offers a glimpse of this dreamlike kingdom. SPIN hailed the track as "exuberant" and Billboard praised it as "a straight-up party tune which flows with melodies, synths and good times." Idolator noted, "The dreamy anthem picks up where debut single/belated 2016 hit 'Walking On A Dream' left off - with hazy synths, multi-layered production and a nod to the past." ABOUT EMPIRE OF THE SUN In 2008, two of Australia's leading musician/producers, Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (Pnau), created a vision that seemed to come from an alternative reality - a post-apocalyptic psychedelic adventure known as Empire Of The Sun.  The resulting album,  Walking On A Dream , went on to sell 1.5 million copies worldwide. Eight ARIA awards (including Album of The Year, Single of the Year and Best Group), 2 BRIT nominations (including Best International Album), and many accolades followed. To date, the band has sold three million copies combined of their albums  Walking On A Dream  and  Ice On The Dune,  and reached Multi-Platinum status with global singles "Alive," "We Are The People" and "Walking On A Dream." Empire Of The Sun'slive show has become the highlight of festivals worldwide with its larger-than-life production.SPIN praised the band's Coachella performance as"out of this world." Empire Of The Sunheadlined the historic Hollywood Bowl last fall, performing for sold-out crowd of over 17,000 fans.

Stream: "Young & Realistic" at Streaming Services
The Faint's new album CAPSULE:1999-2016 is out today on CD and digitally with the 2xLP due October 28 via Saddle Creek. CAPSULE:1999-2016 is available to order now in the  Saddle Creek online store . The 2xLP is pressed on silver vinyl and the first pressing of the album will include a bonus 7" featuring "Skylab1979" and "ESP."This week the band shared the official video for "Young & Realistic" with SPIN. The video was directed by Nik Fackler (Icky Blossoms, Sick Birds Die EasyLovely, Still) and The Faint's Todd Fink. About the video SPIN says, "The song, which debuted back in May, is a soaring electro-disco anthem; now it has a jolting video that loops arresting and bizarre visuals—including close-ups of eyeballs, colorful stalagmite caves, and a man dousing a tree on fire." The "Young & Realistic" video is available to post and share via  YouTube .CAPSULE:1999-2016 is a retrospective collection that represents a golden era for The Faint. The album includes 16 of their most beloved songs from five albums and is an excellent primer for new fans or a classic collection for those who’ve been nodding along since the Blank-Wave Arcadedays.  Consequence Of Sound premiered a stream of “ESP,” one of three new tracks appearing on the album in addition to the recently released “Young & Realistic and"Skylab1979". Todd Fink told Consequence Of Sound, "We all have crazy amazing dreams from time to time but i’ve come to realize that some people’s dream lives are even stranger." He adds, "This song is about being married to someone who has dreams about the future that come true. I used to think that all facts could be explained somehow, but I’m stumped on this. All I can do is sing about how I’d like to meet up with her inside this impossible realm."The Faint's is currently on tour with Gang Of Four and Brooklyn-based electronic artist Pictureplane. The tour will make stops in major cities including Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles. The tour will conclude with a hometown show in Omaha on Halloween at Sokol Auditorium. The Faint will also be performing at  The Growlers’ Beach Goth V  festival taking place in Orange County, California. The festival will also include sets from Bon Iver, James Blake, Justice, Future Islands, Devendra Banhart, The Drums, Cold Cave, Wild Nothing, Hinds and HEALTH. Advance tickets and the full line up can be found  HERE . All upcoming shows are listed below. The Omaha-based band had been kicking around for four years prior to that period, but had a hard time hitting their stride. “We didn’t make anything we really liked until 1999,” frontman Todd Fink laughs. The Faint released some initial material that fit in with the times—reminiscent of the post-punk sounds of Fugazi and other Dischord Records bands—but wasn’t anything spectacular, lacking the distinct personality that would eventually come to define them. It was in writing “Worked Up So Sexual,” the hit single from 1999’s Blank-Wave Arcade, that the band struck their jackpot moment. They discovered an entirely original fusion of synth sounds over a blaring rock background, one that was as catchy as it was danceable. Just like that, the Faint captured lightning in a bottle. “I felt lucky... like, blessed or something,” Fink remembers. “By the time we’d actually recorded those songs, we were like, ‘Yeah, this is where it’s at.’ We were excited to go play basement shows and little bars and halls and just bring the music that we hunted down, that felt like us.”Still reveling in the success of their newfound identity, the band added death metal guitarist Dapose and released their masterpiece, Danse Macabre, in 2001, one of Saddle Creek’s all-time “big three” albums, right up there with Cursive’s The Ugly Organ and Bright Eyes’ Lifted. It was a dark and sinister work that could still be enjoyed on the dance floor. Songs like “Agenda Suicide” and “Glass Danse” forced blasts of disorienting techno beats into aggressive, almost industrial noise that leaned heavily on filthy bass lines. The album exploded, and their weirdo melange of genres brought them a sizeable audience dancing along. Armed with their new, dynamic sound, the band released an onslaught onto unsuspecting crowds around the country—a bombastic audio/visual assault of strobe lights, keyboards, and dance-punk. At times, they were convinced that their esoteric style of punk with a fun twist was bound to turn people off, but to their surprise, the Faint began to catch on. Over the next few years, they continued to evolve on Wet from Birth in 2004 and Fasciinatiion in 2008, before taking a hiatus prior to returning for their anticipated 2014 album, Doom AbuseCAPSULE:1999-2016 serves to bookend this remarkable 17-year period for the Omaha vets, a time which saw them as imitable pioneers of electro-punk. In addition to highlighting songs from five of The Faint’s most popular albums, CAPSULE:1999-2016 features three new songs. The recently released single, “Young & Realistic,” and two bonus unreleased songs: “Skylab1979” and “ESP,” all of which feature latest member Graham Ulicny (Reptar) on synth duties.  The new songs give a glimpse of what’s to come for The Faint, as they embark on a new chapter in their long, influential career.

GILLIAN WELCH SET TO RELEASE BOOTS NO 1: THE OFFICIAL REVIVAL BOOTLEG NOVEMBER 25TH ON ACONY RECORDS

GILLIAN WELCH SET TO RELEASE
BOOTS NO 1: THE OFFICIAL REVIVAL BOOTLEG
NOVEMBER 25TH ON ACONY RECORDS
FEATURES PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED MATERIAL ON TOUR NOW AS PART OF THE DAVE RAWLINGS MACHINE“DRY TOWN” PREMIERES ON SIRIUSXM’S
OUTLAW COUNTRY CHANNEL AND NPR MUSIC “Gillian Welch is one of the greatest songwriters on Earth. I've spent countless hours poring over the songs on Revival, and they still transport me to another place and time while somehow feeling current and relevant on a personal level. I'm a huge fan. Very happy to see these outtakes and rarities see the light.” – Jason Isbell“The two-piece outfit called Gillian Welch...is fascinated by the wrinkles and motes of the experience, and has found the notes for them.” – New Yorker“…A leading voice in roots music.” – Wall Street Journal “…a national treasure” – New York Daily NewsGillian Welch’s groundbreaking album Revival   was released twenty years ago. To commemorate the anniversary, Welch’s own Acony Records will release  Boots No 1: The Official Revival Bootleg  on November 25th. Personally curated and produced by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, they worked alongside archivist Glen Chausse to mine selections from their extensive vault of analog tape recordings. The two-disc set will feature 8 previously unreleased songs, and include 21 outtakes, alternate versions, and demos from the making of the album such as the earliest home demo of “Orphan Girl” which was recorded on a four track and the rarity “Georgia Road,” a song that was only performed live once. The demo “Dry Town” was written the week after Welch and Rawlings opened for Johnny Cash and premiered yesterday on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country channel and is highlighted on NPR Music this morning here http://n.pr/2dgQzsE. NPR Music describes the album saying, “As studious as they were in their days as anonymous, young musicians, there’s proof here of the ingenuity and even playfulness with which they approached the process of refining their sound.” The album will be available on CD, digitally as well as cassette and is available for pre order here. Gillian Welch is currently on tour as part of the Dave Rawlings Machine and has confirmed tour dates in December (see below). Of the album, Gillian Welch says, “I’m happy that the songs hold up. That’s probably the thing I’m most proud of. There is that interesting moment in any writer’s first batch of songs or any writer’s first novel or anything, a filmmaker’s first movie that always seems to have something that is different from what comes after. Something happens in that first push. Maybe because you’re usually up against more resistance. But there is a purity or a diamond hardness to the first batch that doesn’t seem to happen again. And so Revival has that when I look at it. Maybe it’s lack of ego. You know, there really was no me. You know, the artist Gillian Welch didn’t really exist. And then after that, I did.”Revival was Grammy nominated and was highly praised by critics worldwide including The Los Angeles Times who claimed, “…At every turn she demonstrates a spark and commitment that should endear her to anyone, from country and folk to adult pop and rock fan, who appreciates imagination and heart,” Paste Magazine who named Revivalthe 3rd “Best Alt Country Album of All Time,” and Entertainment Weekly praised, “…winsomely authentic…[Revival] gets an early lead on debut-of-the-year honors.” On the influence Revival and Gillian Welch had on him, Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers adds, “I was 13 years old when Gillian Welch won a songwriting contest at Merlefest with the song “Orphan Girl.”  Shortly after, when Revival was released, I remember feeling like she and the festival were one and the same...like she and the environment around her were the past and the future of music, and unbelievably, they were right down the road from me in my home state of North Carolina.  She and David Rawlings contributed mightily to a whole new understanding of what and how a song could be.  The simplicity, finesse and timelessness of their work was inspiring beyond measure. The music of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings was magic for me then and it is magic for me now.”Gillian Welch and musical partner David Rawlings have recorded 7 studio albums and have lent their talents to countless fellow artists’ recordings. In recognition of their remarkable career, Welch and Rawlings were honored with the Americana Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting in 2015 and the Berklee American Masters Award earlier this year.BOOTS NO 1: THE OFFICIAL REVIVAL BOOTLEG TRACK LIST: Disc One 1. Van Der Graaf Generator "Do Not Disturb"

VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR"Do Not Disturb"
13th Studio Album To Be Released On CD and 180 Gram Vinyl October 21st
Van der Graaf Generator  release their 13th studio album "Do Not Disturb," which is their third album since their reinvention as a three-piece group ten years ago. To be released in the US on October 21st through Esoteric Records, the band adopted an old school approach of fully rehearsing the pieces before a record button was hit. Then, in an intensive week, all the backing tracks were recorded live. Once the various parts of each song had been stitched together - pieces were constituted of up to nine different elements and some involved prepared sonic passages as well as the live tracks - individual overdubbing took place in their own studios. Some of this music is as technically demanding as anything VdGG have ever played. Other passages rely on the feel and empathy which has been built up over the years. As a whole, it's a confident and assertive exploration of the possibilities of a modern trio. Lyrically, the passage of time and the cascades of shared memory and experience illuminate the songs. "Do Not Disturb" is a vital addition to the recorded VdGG canon. Van der Graaf Generator are one of the foremost innovators of rock. Peerless and relentlessly creative, they were originally formed in 1967 in Manchester by Peter Hammill and Chris Judge Smith and by 1968, following a few lineup alterations including Chris leaving, Hugh Barton and Guy Evans and latterly David Jackson (in 1970) came together to form the classic VdGG lineup. Following a 17 year hiatus (1978 - 2005), the core group reunited and released their ninth studio album "Present." David departed the band in 2006 and VdGG have remained a trio releasing two studio and two live albums, with "Do Not Disturb" being their third. The CD / 180 gram vinyl can be ordered now at the  MVD Shop or on Amazon.
