Nick Waterhouse - "LA Turnaround" Music Video

NICK WATERHOUSE UNVEILS MUSIC VIDEO FOR"L.A. TURNAROUND" AND ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL U.S. TOUR DATES
NEVER TWICE OUT NOW!

Last week, Nick Waterhouse returned with his third album, Never Twice out now on Innovative Leisure. Today Waterhouse unveiled his music video for one of the albums tracks, "L.A. Turnaround." He's currently out on tour and will play Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn this Saturday, October 8th. Today, Waterhouse also announces a slate of new tour dates beginning  December 2nd with stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Austin, New Orleans and more. Full tour dates listed below.

With Never Twice, Nick Waterhouse returned to his original collaborator, producer Michael McHugh (Black Lips, Ty Segall, Allah-Las). McHugh was a local legend in the oft-underrated Orange County music scene that Nick grew up in. McHugh was the first person to ever put Nick on tape and in an effort to re-capture the vibrancy of the Huntington Beach scene of Nick's youth, he invited McHugh up to his current home of San Francisco to work the boards once again. Once he had McHugh on board, Nick began cold-calling his favorite players, all of whom miraculously said yes. Jazz musician Bob Kenmotsu's contributed flute, Tom Waits and Elvis Costello collaborator Ralph Carney on sax, Dr. Lonnie Smith protege Will Blades on Organ and a virtual whose who of muso legends on horns, bass and guitar. In addition to these jazz greats, Waterhouse enlisted his friend Leon Bridges on the lead single "Katchi." The result is an exuberant and impeccably recorded album of songs, showcasing Waterhouse's prowess as a musician and a band-leader.

Honeyblood Premiere New Song "Babes Never Die," US Tour Starts This Month

HONEYBLOOD PREMIERE NEW SONG "BABES NEVER DIE"
US TOUR STARTS THIS MONTH
BABES NEVER DIE  OUT ON FATCAT RECORDS OCTOBER 28TH Photo Credit: Amira FritzClick Here To Listen To "Babes Never Die"
Scottish duo Honeyblood are back with another dose of their infectious sounds. Consequence of Sound premiered the new track "Babes Never Die" the song which frontwoman Stina Tweeddale describes as the cornerstone of the new album, "It was the starting point, the first track written. It's a song about not dying."  Consequence of Sound  note "...it's a song about being alive. The triumphant guitar swells and singalong chorus of - you guessed it - "babes never die!" offer plenty of points to rally around, and the duo often sounds like they have the power of two or three full rock bands behind them. It's one thing to say you're immortal; it's another to really sound like you believe it."
"Babes Never Die" comes hot of the heels of another of the LP's many stand-out tracks, the dangerously addictive "Sea Hearts." Maintaining their flair for relentless hooks and infectious pop-punk energy, Noisey raved about the song for "It's fuzzed up, 90s-indebted indie rock that'll make you wanna mosh and destroy stuff and do shots and headbang and run real fast and ride your bike with your hands nowhere near the handlebars."
Click Here To Listen To "Sea Hearts"
The title of her band's second album came from somewhere close to her heart, literally. "I have those words tattooed on my ribs." she smiles. "I guess you could call it a war cry; to have the faith to never let yourself be defeated." Babes Never Die is not a shy motto, and one that's triumphant sentiment rings throughout Honeyblood's exceptional sophomore record. "The title is my own mantra, Stina explains of the follow-up to their eponymous 2014 debut.

Honeyblood will be returning to the US later this month, hitting major cities across the country. They'll be joined by Hazel English and Jay Som. The band are playing the album in full in select venues in the UK right now, The Guardian was there to review describing their sound as an "exciting, crunchy sugar-rush racket" All tour dates are listed below.

More on Babes Never Die
From the thundering intro bars of the opening title track it's clear it's an album that's bite will live up to is bark. It's an album that feels like it's on a mission. One that won't let go. But if the Glasgow band - Stina, alongside drummer Cat Myers - have created anything of a signature atmosphere, its one that's as playful as it is impassioned. Over Babes...' 11 tales of drama, horror, lust and laughs, never has that been more true. "There's a strong narrative theme that runs throughout the record, a sort of chaotic empowerment," she explains. "I wrote songs with real characters, more like stories. There's a dark undertone throughout. I wanted gruesome romance stories rather than whiney love songs."
Recorded during several candle-burning stints at London's Fish Factory studio in the winter of 2016, Stina and Cat were joined by acclaimed producer James Dring, whose work with the likes of Jamie T and Gorillaz made him an intriguing choice for the Scottish duo. Make no mistake, 'Babes...' doesn't sound like anyone else but Honeyblood. The urgent lo-fi charm that defined their debut still pulses from its core. The band that burst forth from Glasgow's DIY underground scene just a few years ago, recording cassette tape releases in their bathrooms and hosting ad-hoc parties in disused hairdressers is still in tact, and the clatter of songs like 'Justine, Misery Queen' will play testament to that. But the evolution that's taken place is undeniable. 'Babes...' feels tightly-woven, with a honed sense of drive and focus. An epically road-tested band and a certain production finesse create a formidable combination. 'Love Is A Disease' has a sophistication that feels like it could belong only on this record, with stalking beats, snaking melodies, punishing choruses, and juddering guitar swells that feel reminiscent of Blur's Graham Coxon in his prime. "As a band it's not often that you meet someone you can tell instantly 'gets it'," Stina recalls of their trips down to meet Dring in North London. "He comes from a different place musically to anyone we've worked with before, which felt quite inspiring. He really listened to what we wanted to achieve, knew how to get the best out of us, and when he did bring in ideas they were things we'd never have thought of. " Together they've managed to brilliantly capture then subtly refine and embellish the duo's notorious live energy that over the past two years shared stages all round the globe with everyone from Belle And Sebastian and Foo Fighters to close comrades like Courtney Barnett and Wolf Alice, a regime that's bound to leave an impression.
Those that have enjoyed Honeyblood's more punk-rock moments to date will be pleased to here that they've made a more high-octane album than many might have anticipated. Stand-outs like giddy pop-punk belter and new single 'Sea Hearts' are some of their most intense tracks to date. 'RFTM' deserves a special mention as a remarkable introduction to HB 2.0; detuned doom riffage and disco-punk rhythms make space for a tornado of a chorus ode to "the explosive nature of infatuation". Cat's first full-length foray with the band is something of a revelation, imbuing the sound with a vital and versatile new rhythmic flair and creativity. Now Honeyblood's rhythms do much more than hold the beat. Cat's drums are as musical as any instrument on the album, showcased on tracks like 'Gangs' and 'Hey, Stellar' where her off-beat distinct grooves underpin a gorgeously swooning chorus topline. "When Cat joined the band Honeyblood's sound instantly developed," Stina remembers of the instant influence of her whirlwind drummer who replaced Shona McVicar in 2015. "Then as I started coming up with ideas for songs, it was to play to our strengths as this new duo." 'Walking At Midnight' is new territory for the band, a piece of nocturnal mid-pace pop melodrama that gives some respite from an otherwise frantic record. 'Cruel' is cut from a more classic cloth, a swoonsome ballad; it's one of the rare displays on the album of the rootsy musical lineage that Stina grew up in. Always a natural chorus-sculptor even in her band's most discordant and ramshackle moments, Stina's songwriting truly has found a bright new spotlight on her band's second outing. 'Babes'...' is resplendent in the kind of effortless chant-a-long hooks that one by one will all soon become their own mantras. For a while now Honeyblood have been talked about as one of the most exciting new UK bands, but with Babes Never Dieyou just get the feeling that before long they'll be simply be known as one of the most exciting bands around, period.

WILCO’S SOLID SOUND FESTIVAL
RETURNS TO MASS MoCA JUNE 23-25, 2017

Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival returns to MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA on June 23-25, 2017. Spanning three days and four stages, Solid Sound includes music by Wilco and its members’ side projects, as well as many other soon-to-be-announced musical performers. It also features a full comedy lineup programmed by festival alum John Hodgman, family fun for all ages, local food, craft beer, camping, naturalist activities and more. Set on the 16-acre campus of one of the largest contemporary art museums in the world, just a month after the museum doubles in size with a 120,000 square foot expansion, and with the verdant Berkshires of Western New England as the backdrop, Solid Sound is “an antidote to big-name destination festivals” (Hartford Courant) that “gives the band incentive to tinker and reinvent.” (New York Times)

Imagined by Wilco in 2010 and born out of “a desire to make a festival that we wouldn’t be miserable at,” said Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, Solid Sound was conceived as a place for Wilco fans to experience both the band and its members’ varied and various side projects within the same live setting. Since 2011, the festival has returned to MASS MoCA every other summer and has featured unique Wilco performances like 2013’s all covers set and 2015’s all-acoustic one. Past performers have included Levon Helm, Neko Case, Mac DeMarco, Mavis Staples, Richard Thompson, Reggie Watts, Bill Frisell, Yo La Tengo, Syl Johnson, Thurston Moore, Cibo Matto, Wyatt Cenac, Lucius and more, all chosen by Wilco.

Information on tickets, lineup, lodging and more will be announced soon. Visitsolidsoundfestival.com for additional info or to sign up for the festival’s mailing list.  A documentary about the 2013 festival, Every Other Summer, is available via Vimeo.
