Steady Holiday Named LA Weekly's Best Solo Artist of 2016Headlining The Bootleg in Los Angeles on November 15On Tour This Month With Islands Debut Album Under The Influence out now via Infinite Best Recordings"Under The Influence is a film score reinvented; it contains the movie's troubled mood and themes, turning them into a slinky ode to instability and imperfection. - The Fader
"A feminine reinterpretation of post-2010 James Bond in post-coital, xanax infused mysterio-interim." - Flaunt Magazine
“Both fresh and like it’s been around for a hundred years, a standard from a different world.” - Stereogum
"Babinski plays violin and guitar on compositions that are often elegant and fully realized, akin to the early work of St. Vincent." - LA Weekly

"Over a dark and loping country rhythm, Babinski skates her vocals with a delicate grace, the brittle timbre of her voice recalling both Björk and The Cardigans’ Nina Persson." -  FLOOD
LISTEN: "Under The Influence"
WATCH: "Open Water" Video  Steady Holiday has a announced a hometown headling show on November 15 at The Bootleg in Los Angeles. Tickets for the show are available  now . Steady Holiday is touring in support their critically acclaimed album Under The Influence, out now via  Infinite Best Recordings (Mr Twin Sister, Islands). The November show marks the one year annivesary of the project, which was just named LA Weekly's Best Solo Artist of 2016 and Consequence Of Sound featured the band as one of  Five Rising LA Artists You Need to Hear . The LA show will follow up an October tour with Islands. All upcoming tour dates are listed below.
Steady Holiday is Dre Babinski. Until recently you could find her playing in bands around L.A., opening for Fitz and the Tantrums and Fun., and making a record with some friends from Dr. Dog. She enjoyed the side-woman life, but longed for an outlet of her own, writing and recording in secret, developing a body of work about hidden desire itself.  Under the Influence  is her coming out party. The album features Josh Adams (Jenny Lewis) and was produced by Gus Seyffert (The Black Keys, Beck). The record’s first single “Your Version of Me” came out of nowhere to immediate praise, garnering 200,000 streams, and catching the attention of Coachella founder Paul Tollett, who added the band to the 2016 festival, where they were  a breakout hit . A residency at The Satellite in LA followed; audiences and press coverage increased each week. In September, Steady Holiday opened for Unknown Mortal Orchestra at the Santa Monica Pier and will head out on the road later this month with Islands.Under The Influence's seductive "Open Water" follows earlier album cuts "No Matter" and "When I See Color," the former is a slow-burning fuse, snaking its way "deeper down the path" before realizing "there’s no rush to end when the cycles repeat." The latter is playful but melancholy, nodding towards Nilsson by way of Father John Misty, asking "do you ever put something on a list just to check it off?" and disintegrating in a swirl of minor key bass and violins played by Dre herself.

Hannah Peel presents ‘Awake But Always Dreaming’

Hannah Peel presents ‘Awake But Always Dreaming’A very special meeting of minds on memory, film, music, literature and art
Listen to Beyond The Wizards Sleeve’s Richard Norris remixes Hannah Peel’s ‘All That Matters’ HERE
Hannah Peel live, plus film screenings by Lavinia Greenlaw (The Sea Is An Edge And An Ending) and Shelly Love (Scratch)More guests to be announced soon
24th November 2016, Shoreditch Church, London: tickets: £13.15 available here.
In association with Alzheimer’s Research. Curated by Kirsteen McNish of Vine Collective.
[image error] Acclaimed singer-songwriter and member of celebrated band The Magnetic North, Hannah Peelannounces a one off event inspired by the themes, images and surreal atmospheres of her remarkable new solo album Awake But Always Dreaming, which you can stream here and watch a video for her single All That Matters here.Peel has created an exquisite, distinct album, full of vibrant, direct colour in the early stages of the record, contrasted with esoteric, dreamscape, legato movements towards the end. The bright, raw magic and joy of personal relationships are set alongside the gradual loss of her grandmother to dementia. It’s a record about memory: the luminous and beautiful formation of memories and the devastating loss or slow, insidious damage to the mind. Awake But Always Dreaming has been described as a “sublime electronic opus” (Q), “an incredible record’” (The Quietus), “rich, detailed and beguiling” (The Irish Times), while The Observer recently described Peel as “A great singer and a latter day Delia Derbyshire.’”This event joins together like minded independent artists who have created work as a result of being touched by the issues around dementia & memory loss. The audience are invited to become part of an immersive experience - delving into the “rabbit warren” of the mind exploring memory and consciousness through film, literature, music and light illuminations. In this event there will be a kaleidoscope of work shared from artists and scientists around this subject matter. All this takes place in the stunning environs of St Leonard’s Church, Shoreditch, a venue well known for exciting arts events, whose ancient walls are the perfect setting for this collaboration.
We will be joined by award winning writer, poet and filmmaker Lavinia Greenlaw who has published five collections of poetry, most recently A Double Sorrow: Troilus and Criseyde and two novels, plus the memoir, The Importance of Music to Girls and Questions of Travel: William Morris in Iceland.Audio Obscura, her immersive soundwork for Artangel/Manchester International Festival won the 2011 Ted Hughes Award.
Lavinia’s short film  The Sea is an Edge and an Ending  will screen as part of the event. It is a study of the impact of dementia on our sense of time and place, drawing on Shakespeare’s Tempest. (Commissioned by FVU and Metal with the support of Wellcome Trust. Supported by Arts Council England). The film premiered at Estuary Festival in September 2016.

ExSage Share "Tripwire" Video Via All Things Go

EXSAGE SHARE "TRIPWIRE" VIDEO VIA ALL THINGS GO

STREAM DEBUT EP 'OUT OF THE BLUE'WATCH & SHARE: ExSage - "Tripwire" Video

"Stunningly beautiful and tonally on point with their hard-driving dark rock." - All Things Go

"Comparisons to bands like The Kills and The Raveonettes are inevitable, but the five-song EP injects those garage bones with engine oil-sludgy desert rock guitars, [Kate] Clover's big, almost-pop vocals, and a touch of Nick Cave ominousness." - Noisey

LISTEN & SHARE: ExSage - "Bad Seed Baby"

"Comes at you like a desert-baked version of indie guitar-slingers like the Duke Spirit, the Kills, Sons & Daughters and the Prids. Or maybe X on a road trip in the wilderness beyond Joshua Tree." Buzzbands.LA Today, ExSage shared their new creepy Grindhouse video "Tripwire" via All Things Go, along with a stream of their new EP, 'Out Of The Blue'.  They're set to play at the Pretty Cult Pop Shop for their EP release show, on Tuesday October 18th.

Fanatics have their dreams where they weave their own paradise, like a desert mirage that exists solely in your mind. ExSage sings of elusive truth and the tension it creates - love and hate, pain and ecstasy. The balance we walk that makes us divine or evil.

There’s nothing quite like being in the desert. It is an inimitable feeling when the heavy heat of day submits to the piercing cold of night. The setting sun bruises the sky as it strikes the horizon and sinks, stripping the gilding from the sand and exposing the cold faces of the stars. High noon and the witching hour are equally captivating; both are unnerving, both are electrifying. Night condenses and expands and hundreds of unblinking eyes emerge, gaping.

The desert demands transformation. What thrives there is thorned. What survives slinks between shadows. To exist there is to withstand its vastness—an act of defiance. For thousands of years, it has tested us, summoned us to solitude to confront ourselves. Both Tim Foley and Kate Clover heeded this call. Beneath a storm-stained sky thick with anticipation, the former flames found themselves reunited. As lighting scarred the sand, they resolved to sonically sublimate its essence. ExSage emerged from the eye of this storm.

ExSage recorded their debut EP in Los Angeles with producer Alain Johannes (Mark Lanegan, Them Crooked Vultures, Brody Dalle, Queens of the Stone age), which will be released worldwide in October.OUT OF THE BLUE - TRACKLISTING

Lust For Youth shares video for "Tokyo", "Compassion" out now on Sacred Bones

LUST FOR YOUTH SHARES NEW VIDEO FOR "TOKYO"
WATCH IT  HERE
COMPASSION LP OUT NOW ON SACRED BONES RECORDS                                                                   Lust For Youth have spent the last six years refining lo-fi darkwave into club-ready synth-pop. Compassion is the end product of that evolution, a once rough stone polished into a lustrous crystal.  - Pitchfork
With their new album ‘ Compassion ’ out now via Sacred Bones, Copenhagen trio Lust For Youth are sharing their new video ' Tokyo ', from the record.

Appropriately filmed in song title's location, the band got the footage for the ' Tokyo ' video from a group of residents who filmed themselves across their hometown. It shows the vibrant life of growing up in Japan - the clubs, the gigs, the bright lights and late nights, complete with some excellent Lust For Youth t-shirts.

Watch 'Tokyo' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba_wCTECwMk

Lust For Youth are a three piece from Copenhagen made up of Hannes Norrvide, Malthe Fischer & Loke Rahbek. Following 2014’s acclaimed album, International, the trio released their most recent album  Compassion  earlier this year.

Compassion  restates beauty for a time of crisis and clickbait. Judgement, design, form, and opinion: to what end will we refine our world if we can't also make an anthem of our lives? This is the tender conspiracy: I'm on twitter; I have an anthem. Do we have an anthem? We have lust. Let's meet IRL.

Lust For Youth are affectionately vicious, and vulnerably sharp. They are the anticipation of the comedown as you come up on the best you've ever been offered from a bathroom stall. This is the spectrum: a low you know, and a dizzy new height.

Hearts blind lights and finance desire. Is it the fate of the cunning to look good, or is it just cunning to look this good? Compassion is dexterity: we all look this good. An impulse is an appetite, and you're entitled to everything. Multitask collapse and revolution because you're a beautiful mess.

           Compassion is deliverance.
              Anticipate compassion.

(Written by Patrick Quick)

Ulrich Schnauss Debuts Video For "Love Grows Out Of Thin Air"

Ulrich Schnauss Debuts Video For “Love Grows Out Of Thin Air” New LP No Further Ahead Than Today Out 11/4 On Scripted Realities/ [PIAS]

Today ground-breaking German, electronic innovator and current Tangerine Dream member Ulrich Schnauss is pleased to share news of his forthcoming album No Further Ahead Than Today which will be released on November 4th through his label Scripted Realities and [PIAS].  Coinciding this announcement, he has debuted the track and powerful video for “Love Grows Out Of Thin Air” via  THUMP. Directed by Sean James Garland, the video follows a gripping and emotional narrative of life, loss and death within a family, scored perfectly to the evocative and multifaceted track.
Of the track and video, Schnauss elaborates: "My music is about trying to translate human feelings into sound—the biggest challenge always has been to find the right balance between aesthetic concerns and emotional impact," he said. "I admire Sean Garland's ability to reconcile these two aspects with such elegance in his visual language, and am therefore very grateful for his contribution, which really is a short film rather than just a music video."
No Further Ahead Than Today marks the German-born electronic artist's fifth album and the follow up to 2013’s widely acclaimed A Long Way To Fall, and with it Ulrich returns to the earlier style of his first two albums, the landmark A Strangely Isolated Place and Far Away Trains Passing By.
At once uplifting and otherworldly, the music of Ulrich Schnauss combines multilayered synthesizers with beats and ethereal vocals, serving as an aural escape route from the trappings of reality. As Schnauss explains, “I’ve always used making and listening to music as a way to escape – putting on headphones is a great way to leave reality behind for a while, reminding yourself why it still makes sense to carry on.”
Today, Schnauss expresses a renewed interest in more direct electronic sounds, and aims to substitute traditional verse-chorus-verse structures for more freeform atmospherics.
Additionally, he is also a talented remixer who has produced re-workings for the likes of Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Todd Terje, Bryan Ferry and Matryoshka. He has also been a member of Tangerine Dream since 2014.
