BOB DYLAN’S FIRST THREE-DISC ALBUM – TRIPLICATE - SET FOR
MARCH 31 RELEASE
COLLECTION TO FEATURE 30 BRAND NEW RECORDINGS OF
CLASSIC AMERICAN SONGS
Each disc to be presented in a thematically-arranged 10-song sequence, illuminating compositions from great American songwriters interpreted by Dylan through his artistry
as a vocalist, arranger and bandleader.
(Columbia Records; New York, NY; January 31, 2017) A three-disc studio album from Bob Dylan, Triplicate, will be released on March 31, featuring 30 brand-new recordings of classic American tunes and marking the first triple-length set of the artist’s illustrious career. With each disc individually titled and presented in a thematically-arranged 10-song sequence, Triplicateshowcases Dylan’s unique and much-lauded talents as a vocalist, arranger and bandleader on 30 compositions by some of music’s most lauded and influential songwriters. The Jack Frost-produced album is the 38th studio set from Bob Dylan and marks the first new music from the artist since Fallen Angels, which was released in early 2016.
Triplicate will be simultaneously released in several configurations, including a 3-CD 8-Panel Digipak (http://smarturl.it/TriplicateCD), a 3-LP vinyl set (http://smarturl.it/TriplicateLP) and a 3-LP Deluxe Vinyl Limited Edition packaged in a numbered case (http://smarturl.it/TriplicateDeluxe). Triplicate is also available for pre-order on iTunes (http://smarturl.it/TriplicateiT), and one of its recordings, “I Could Have Told You,” can now be streamed via a “Vinyl Video” on YouTube (http://smarturl.it/ICouldHaveToldYou).
For Triplicate, Dylan assembled his touring band in Hollywood’s Capitol studios to record hand-chosen songs from an array of American songwriters including Charles Strouse and Lee Adams (“Once Upon A Time”), Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler (“Stormy Weather”), Harold Hupfield (“As Time Goes By”) and Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh (“The Best Is Yet To Come”). The titles of the individual discs are ‘Til The Sun Goes Down, Devil Dolls and Comin’ Home Late.
The artist’s two previous album of classic American songs, last year’s Fallen Angels and 2015’sShadows in the Night, were both worldwide hits and garnered Grammy Award nominations in the category of Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Fallen Angels achieved Top Ten debuts in more than a dozen countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, The Netherlands and Austria, while Shadows in the Night debuted in the Top 10 in seventeen countries, with #1 debuts in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden and Norway.
Both albums received worldwide critical acclaim, with Randy Lewis writing of Fallen Angels in The Los Angeles Times, “[Dylan] immediately liberates songs from the big band/big orchestra world from which they emerged, and in which they are most frequently revisited…. [He] reaches to the blues at the core of many of these songs. Thus, they elicit the ache of romantic yearning and loss that often gets subsumed by swelling orchestral forces, background choirs or by singers who are more focused on crafting elegant vocals than finding emotional resonance."
The Telegraph’s Neil McCormick awarded Shadows in the Night five out of five stars and described the work as "spooky, bittersweet, mesmerizingly moving [with] the best singing from Dylan in 25 years.” Jon Pareles wrote of that album in the New York Times, “Mr. Dylan presents yet another changed voice…a subdued, sustained tone….Shadows in the Night maintains its singular mood: lovesick, haunted, suspended between an inconsolable present and all the regrets of the past.”
Bob Dylan's seven previous studio albums have been universally hailed as among the best of his storied career, achieving new levels of commercial success and critical acclaim for the artist. The Platinum-selling Time Out Of Mind from 1997 earned multiple Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year, while "Love and Theft" continued Dylan's Platinum streak and earned several Grammy nominations and a statue for Best Contemporary Folk album.
Modern Times, released in 2006, became one of the artist's most popular albums, selling more than 2.5 million copies worldwide and earning Dylan two more Grammys. Together Through Lifebecame the artist's first album to debut at #1 in both the U.S. and the UK, as well as in five other countries, on its way to surpassing sales of one million copies. Tempest received unanimous worldwide critical acclaim upon release and reached the Top 5 in 14 countries, while Shadows in the Night and Fallen Angels were hailed by fans and lauded by critics for Dylan’s singular interpretive artistry.
These seven releases fell within a 19-year creative span that also included the recording of an Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning composition, "Things Have Changed," from the film Wonder Boys, in 2001; a worldwide best-selling memoir, Chronicles Vol. 1, which spent 19 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List, in 2004, and a Martin Scorsese-directed documentary, No Direction Home, in 2005. Bob Dylan also released his first collection of holiday standards,Christmas In The Heart, in 2009, with all of the artist's royalties from that album being donated to hunger charities around the world.
In December 2016, Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature by the Swedish Academy “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” He was a 2012 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States’ highest civilian honor, and was awarded a special Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power." He was also the recipient of the Officier de la Legion d'honneur in 2013, Sweden's Polar Music Award in 2000, Doctorates from the University of St. Andrews and Princeton University, as well as numerous other honors.
Bob Dylan has sold more than 125 million records around the world.

"The point of [Fast Moving Clouds] is in the ways Ms. Nelson makes the songs gradually move from one definition to another, drawing your attention to its repetition or simplicity, then expanding the context or otherwise defying your expectations." - The New York Times
"Fast-Moving Clouds benefits immensely from its mid-fi, almost homemade sound, which lends weight to her inventive pop flourishes." - Pitchfork "If Nelson doesn't seem much like the self-aggrandizing type in person, she's even more
modest on record, preferring to let the listener search for the jewel of a melody
at the center of each song. With " Hazy ", that search is a pleasure." - Consequence of Sound
Sarah Bethe Nelson is excited to share " Out Of My Reach ," the newest single from her upcoming sophomore album Oh, Evolution (due February 24 on Burger Records). The premiere comes via a feature in She Shreds , who noted that Oh, Evolution "explores the evolution of love, life, relationships, and the self through sun-kissed psychedelic rock, doo wop, and bubblegum pop fused with rock fuzz and the occasional heavy riff." The track is available to stream or embed HERE , and Oh, Evolution is available for pre-order HERE .
Nelson was recently announced as an official artist at SXSW 2017, and she will be sharing a schedule of performances for this year's festival soon. More shows will also be announced in the coming months.
The poet Frank O'Hara wrote, "Each time my heart is broken it makes me feel more adventurous." Think of the eight songs on Oh, Evolution, then, as the catchy beat from a '60s AM radio, driving along the sun-kissed California coast, where all sadness melts away into the ocean. You're on a road trip with Sarah Bethe Nelson, who's at the wheel, meditating on her adventures with Mission District drag queens, DIY garage rockers, beer-logged poets, and romantics. The top's down, you're feeling the warm wind across your face as you escape the claustrophobic anxiety of cosmopolitan life. It changes you; the vibrations give you clarity.
Since releasing her debut Fast-Moving Clouds on Burger Records last year, Nelson's kept her job as Mission District bartender. She's also been on the road with her band writing Oh, Evolution with her self-referential Polaroids of a local Bay Area "Sugar Factory" (a fuzzy romantic allegory, perhaps), or resolving existential turmoil with bratty simplicity, "I Don't Care," which deliciously blends '70s adult-contemporary with glossy indie-pop. Nelson's clear alto is the guiding light on the album's first track, the lead single, " Hazy ," where her gorgeously detached vocals flicker over jangling guitars that sparkle as she says, "You were lying. And I was crying." The track showcases Nelson in her natural state on this record, where melancholic lyrics are glued onto a notebook covered in glitter and primary colors. It's a departure from Fast-Moving Clouds, where the songs were reminiscent of '90s "slowcore." There's the opposite effect, too, on the track "Sugar Factory," where the sweet nostalgia in her words are clouded by fuzzed-out guitars and a brooding beat.
Juxtapositions aside, thematically, Oh, Evolution is centered on pulling back the shades on the regularity and stagnation of adulthood. It's a musical exhale by Nelson who casts the light in different directions, from the Midwestern rootsiness of Sheryl Crow on "Bright Thing," to '60s girl-group elements on "Hazy." The two ballads, "Face the Waves" and "Deadbolt" are both intensely emotional songs that deal with loss and decaying romance. It's Nelson in her preferred state on a record that's both self-aware bubblegum, and a fistful of crumbled love letters. Oh, Evolution was recorded at San Francisco's El Studio and engineered by Phil Manley.

BRITTA PHILLIPS SHARESVIDEO FOR "MILLION DOLLAR DOLL"
CONFIRMS TOUR DATES SUPPORTING TEENAGE FANCLUB
Britta Phillips has shared a new video for "Million Dollar Doll" and announced a run of tour dates supporting Teenage Fanclub. The song is from Britta's first solo album, Luck Or Magic, released last year. Embed code is below.
WATCH "MILLION DOLLAR DOLL" HERE
Alec Coiro directed the video, which Britta describes as "Blade Runner meets Noir." Coiro has written seven musicals, created the movie "Fashion Party" which premiered at the Tribeca Grand Hotel and directed music videos for Son Little, The Chapin Sisters, andRebecca Schiffman. He offered insight into "Millon Dollar Doll," saying,
"'Million Dollar Doll' weaves a very compelling story. For the video, we wanted to stay true to the song's narrative, but not retell it too literally. We stuck with the song's theme of following and being followed, and added to that ... being under the constant gaze of digital surveillance. We also added an expression of the impulse to resist that gaze."

“Gorgeous from beginning to end, Luck or Magic is evenly split between love and lust…distilling a kind of naïve, sad-eyed beauty with a life-affirming glow” - MOJO
“Beautiful, swoonsome debut by Luna lifer” - UNCUT
“As seasoned and savvy as songwriters come… her debut delivers a playful, seductive, lush, and atmospheric set of originals and cover songs comprised of building melodies that draw from a wide array of influences. Every song showcases Phillips' gorgeous, extraordinary voice. Magic is a stunner, just like she is.”
- BUST MAGAZINE “Top 29 Albums of 2016”
Observer Best of 2016 - Guardian Music
Top 100 Albums of 2016 (#27) - Under The Radar
“…the kind of album destined to reveal new treasures and reveries galore upon repeated listens. Contrary to the album’s title, the excellence of Phillips’ debut derives neither from luck nor magic, but rather from her proven penchant for crafting songs that are nothing short of sublime.” - ALBUMISM’s “30 Best Albums of 2016”
“Her voice aches like Lana Del Rey over a candy floss blanket of synths… You hope Phillips doesn’t leave it so long for another solo sojourn.” - CLASSIC POP

Sevdaliza responds to Muslim ban in new song

FROM SEVDALIZA: "In protest of the inhumane political climate, I could not rest my head in privilege. I wrote 'Bebin' in Farsi, to solidify. I stand strong with love. In this case I choose to avoid mainstream media, because I have no interest in part taking in a victimized concept. As I will not be able to travel to the United States for indefinite duration, take this message without lights, camera, action. I am solely a messenger. In the act of love, there is no place for racism nor bigotry. With love, Sevdaliza"

Lyrics:
This feeling Makes you feel grande Yet this same feeling Makes me feel small Don't oblige me what to feel If I don't feel it at all You ask me how I feel Yet close your eyes To truth be told Behold.. Whatever it is you demand of me My love for this world My love personally Is larger than life This is my story

The Residents present "The Ghost Of Hope" on 3/24
The Residents present "The Ghost Of Hope"on CD and Vinyl - March 24th
Following their long tradition of projects based on narrative themes, The Residents are pleased to announce the release of
The Ghost of Hope
, a historically accurate album based on train wrecks from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
After discovering a series of vintage news articles highlighting the dangers of train travel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and inspired by the era's graceful language, the group contrast that eloquence against the sheer horror of these devastating events. In their own unique style, the band has constructed a highly original series of tone poems quite unlike the music of anyone else - except, of course, The Residents. The album features guest collaborator Eric Drew Feldman - who has worked with everybody cool, so he's already in your record collection.
If there's a primary metaphor within this collection it is certainly found in that humble word 'hope.' When powerful men of the world build political campaigns around this simple four-letter word and fail, one wonders what life might become without it. Regardless, whether it be historical and literal, symbolic and metaphorical or simply nonsense, The Residents remain mum. THE GHOST OF HOPE "My heart is warm with the friends I make and better friends, I'll not be knowing,
Yet there isn't a train I wouldn't take, no matter where it's going."
-Edna St Vincent Millay
While the great poet's romantic relationship with train travel was undoubtedly heartfelt, she was definitely not traveling by rail as the 19th century neared its end. The dangers posed by increasingly fast trains, coupled with heavier and heavier cargo loads, moving across an aging rail system, made derailment a common occurrence.
In addition, the primitive communications and safety mechanism of the era often resulted in either head-on collisions or, conversely, "telescoping," which occurred when a stationary or slow-moving train was hit from the rear by another train on the same tracks. When this happened, especially in winter when the cars were heated by coal-burning stoves and illuminated by kerosene lamps, the wooden passenger cars were quickly engulfed in flames, resulting in a quick and unpleasant death for those surviving the initial impact. In retrospect, a simple fact was obvious: this revolutionary technology was progressing faster than society could regulate or control it.
Utilizing various techniques, including music, sound effects and text from actual newspaper accounts from the era, The Ghost of Hope purports to recreate several of these horrific incidents. While the dangers described in these factual events are now largely confined to the past, humanity perseveres, valiantly thundering ahead into the uncharted realms of digital technology, genetic engineering, artificial intelligence and the attempt to spread our seed throughout the cosmos. Meanwhile, have we learned from the past or are we doomed to repeat our mistakes on an ever grander scale? Tracklist:Horrors Of The NightThe Crash At CrushDeath HarvestShroud Of FlamesThe Great Circus Train Wreck of 1918Train vs ElephantKilled At A Crossing
The CD and Vinyl can be ordered at the MVD Shop or on Amazon
