CONGRATULATIONS TO HOMESHAKE (the musical project of Peter Sagar) on the release of his new album Fresh Air which is out today, February 3, via Sinderlyn.
Born in the bleak isolation of the secluded prairie city of Edmonton, Canada, Peter Sagar worked with friends in a number of local bands before picking up and moving to Montreal in 2011 to begin recording under the Homeshake moniker. Following two self-released cassettes (The Homeshake Tapes and Dynamic Meditation) and two acclaimed full lengths (In The Shower and Midnight Snack), Sagar gives us Fresh Air.
Fresh Air continues Sagar's exploration of dreamy, downtempo bedroom R&B and draws inspiration from such disparate artists like Sade, The Band, Broadcast, Prince, and Angelo Badalamenti. As the title Fresh Air suggests, Sagar's songs were created to clear his listeners' minds of negativity. Full of smokey, laid back love songs and airy productions, Sagar's decidedly stoned sound is a breath of fresh air.

elbow return with their seventh studio album “Little Fictions” which is out TODAY worldwide.
“Little Fictions” was recorded in Scotland and Manchester and sees the band collaborate with the string players of The Hallé Orchestra, the Hallé Ancoats Community Choir, members of London Contemporary Voices and session drummer Alex Reeves. As with the previous three elbow albums, it was produced by Craig Potter.
“Little Fictions” is emphatically a band album. Having written individually for its chart-topping predecessor, “The Take Off and Landing of Everything,” sessions this time were collective affairs, with all four members gathered initially in a house in Scotland before moving to Guy’s attic in Prestwich and finalizing recordings in the familiar setting of Blueprint studios, Salford.
“Little Fictions” is an upbeat album. All the band talk of the sessions being "joyful," Mark summarizes it as “the sound of four people who love what they do and each other,” of an album that came into being naturally and, at times even unconsciously. Lead single “Magnificent (She Says)” was embraced for the joyous, thrilling piece of music it is, positive and outward looking. Mark never even considered his audible switch towards electric guitars, most notable on the psychedelic lushness of "All Disco," until the very end of the process.
The departure of drummer Richard Jupp prior to commencing the writing and recording process in earnest saw early sessions characterized by new approaches to rhythm, with the band utilizing percussive noises, sampling and loops to build tracks.
The grooves that run through much of the album, from the go-go beats of “Gentle Storm” through the jagged trip hop of “Kindling” to the soulful “Firebrand & Angel” represent both the band’s widest musical palette and a newfound sense of experimentation borne from both necessity and desire. That desire fuelled the title track, an eight-minute piece that is epic without at any point feeling excessive. As a shorthand for the album it is perfect, crossing musical genres and experimenting with sound in ways that demonstrate the confidence and enthusiasm of the band throughout the recording process.
“Little Fictions” is, therefore, more than just yet another brilliant elbow album. In many ways it marks the start of a new chapter for the band, characterized by a rediscovery of shared purpose in doing the thing that has always brought them together, the place that Mark describes as “the creative space where we all meet.”
“Little Fictions” is released by Concord Records in North America and is also available on Gatefold Vinyl, CD and Digital Download. A special edition boxset of the album containing a bespoke book, CD LP and digital download of the album is available in limited quantities exclusively via the elbow store .
“There's the thoughtful deliberateness of Build a Rocket Boys!, the ambitious sentimentality of The Take Off and Landing of Everything, and the compositional creativity of The Seldom Seen Kid, capped by some of Garvey's most confident and beautiful vocals yet.” - Under The Radar Magazine
“Spirited and affirming.” – SLANT Magazine
“Another memorable release for Elbow.” – Pop Matters
“There’s never an instance on Little Fictions where Elbow sounds like it’s on autopilot, a worthy feat considering the band’s multi-decade existence and seven studio outings.” – Pop Matters
“Elbow have crafted another brilliant album.” - Q Magazine
“Little Fictions is the sound of a band doing what it's always done, and doing it with style.” – Uncut
“If you’re chasing the initial buzz, Little Fictions is quite a hit.” – NME

Gillian Welch Shares Video For “Dry Town (Demo)” via NPR Music
GILLIAN WELCH SHARES VIDEO FOR “DRY TOWN (DEMO)”
VIA NPR MUSIC
BOOTS NO. 1: THE OFFICIAL REVIVAL BOOTLEG OUT NOW ON ACONY RECORDS
"Gillian Welch is one of the greatest songwriters on Earth. I've spent countless hours poring over the songs on Revival, and they still transport me to another place and time while somehow feeling current and relevant on a personal level. I'm a huge fan. Very happy to see these outtakes and rarities see the light.” –Jason Isbell
Critical Acclaim for Welch’s Boots No. 1: The Official Revival Bootleg
“Welch’s spectral country music has always felt otherworldly in its ability to evoke feelings, memories and atmosphere on command.”
–Pitchfork
"This collection of outtakes and demos shows it is possible to add to perfection… Rarely have songs so entrancing remained in the archives.”
–MOJO (★★★★★) Gillian Welch shared her video for “Dry Town (Demo)” this morning on NPR Music, who called it “playful and sweetly captivating.” You can watch it here. The video brings Welch’s song about being stuck in a town with “no beer, no liquor for miles around,” to life with stop motion animation and anthropomorphized beer bottles and shot glasses. The music video was produced by Rachel Blumberg, an artist and former drummer for The Decemberists, Bright Eyes and M Ward, who said of working on the video: “The lyrics have a great visual quality and rhythm and it made sense to interpret things in a very literal way, which I think adds to the humor of the piece.” Gillian Welch worked with close friend Blumberg to create the video, and said on the inspiration for it, “Dry Town came from a live experience I had on a road trip when I was just out of college. David and I wrote the song shortly after moving to Nashville, after a show where we opened for Johnny Cash. We were so inspired to meet Johnny and see him in the flesh that we wanted to capture some of that narrative swagger and humor in a song of our own. Since the story is front and center, it seemed like a great chance to bring the song to life with stop motion animation. I'm more of a car person than Rachel, so I found the '71 Buick with the vinyl top, other than that she created every inch of the fantastic world you see.”

“Dry Town (Demo)” is off Welch’s Boots No. 1: The Official Revival Bootleg which was released on November 25, 2016 on Acony Records. NPR Music initially premiered the song via Songs We Love, praising it as a “wry, Johnny Cash-like talking-blues.” Boots No. 1, which commemorates the 20th anniversary of Welch’s groundbreaking album, Revival, provides an intimate look at the earliest works of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, “before they emerged as leading lights in an ascendant Americana scene,” and is “a tremendous reminder of how and why this partnership came to matter so much." (NPR Music) Boots No. 1: The Official Revival Bootleg is out now on Acony Records, and is available on CD and digitally here.
Boots No. 1: The Official Revival Bootleg was personally curated and produced by Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, who worked alongside archivist Glen Chausse to mine selections from their extensive vault of analog tape recordings. The two-disc set features 8 previously unreleased songs, and includes 21 outtakes, alternate versions, and demos from the making of the album, such as the earliest home demo of “Orphan Girl” which was recorded on a four-track and the rarity “Georgia Road,” a song that was only performed live once.
Of the album, Gillian Welch says, “I’m happy that the songs hold up. That’s probably the thing I’m most proud of. There is that interesting moment in any writer’s first batch of songs or any writer’s first novel or anything, a filmmaker’s first movie that always seems to have something that is different from what comes after. Something happens in that first push. Maybe because you’re usually up against more resistance. But there is a purity or a diamond hardness to the first batch that doesn’t seem to happen again. And so Revival has that when I look at it. Maybe it’s lack of ego. You know, there really was no me. You know, the artist Gillian Welch didn’t really exist. And then after that, I did.”
Revival was Grammy-nominated and was highly praised by critics worldwide including The Los Angeles Times who claimed, “…At every turn she demonstrates a spark and commitment that should endear her to anyone, from country and folk to adult pop and rock fan, who appreciates imagination and heart,” Paste Magazine who named Revival the 3rd “Best Alt Country Album of All Time,” and Entertainment Weekly who praised, “…winsomely authentic…[Revival] gets an early lead on debut-of-the-year honors.”
On the influence Revival and Gillian Welch had on him, Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers adds, “I was 13 years old when Gillian Welch won a songwriting contest at Merlefest with the song ‘Orphan Girl.’ Shortly after, when Revival was released, I remember feeling like she and the festival were one and the same...like she and the environment around her were the past and the future of music, and unbelievably, they were right down the road from me in my home state of North Carolina. She and Dave Rawlings contributed mightily to a whole new understanding of what and how a song could be. The simplicity, finesse and timelessness of their work was inspiring beyond measure. The music of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings was magic for me then and it is magic for me now.”
Gillian Welch and musical partner Dave Rawlings have recorded 7 studio albums and have lent their talents to countless fellow artists’ recordings. In recognition of their remarkable career, Welch and Rawlings were honored with the Americana Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting in 2015 and the Berklee American Masters Award last year.BOOTS NO 1: THE OFFICIAL REVIVAL BOOTLEG TRACK LIST: Disc One 1. BOOTS NO. 1: THE OFFICIAL REVIVAL BOOTLEG OUT NOW ON ACONY RECORDS

MICHELLE BRANCH TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM HOPELESS ROMANTIC APRIL 7
MICHELLE BRANCH RELEASESNEW ALBUM
HOPELESS ROMANTIC
APRIL 7, 2017, ON VERVE RECORDS
New single - "Hopeless Romantic" - out now
Los Angeles, CA - February 3, 2017 - Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Michelle Branch will release her highly anticipated fourth studio album Hopeless Romantic on April 7, 2017, through Verve Records. This is Branch's first solo project since her Grammy-nominated 2003 album Hotel Paper .Entertainment Weekly has projected it to be one of 2017's most anticipated albums. Billboard premiered the first single and title track here. The title track is currently available for download at iTunes and to stream at Spotify and Apple Music. The album will be available for pre-order at Amazon, iTunes, and pre-save at Spotify. Primarily recorded in Los Angeles, and produced by Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) and Gus Seyffert(Beck, Norah Jones, Sia), Hopeless Romantic weaves a tale of love both lost and found. "A lot of these songs are about heartbreak, but knowing that it doesn't mean the end of the world. It just means letting go and moving on and knowing that you're going to be okay," says Branch. "This is my first real-life autobiographical record." Stand-outs include the first single "Hopeless Romantic," "Fault Line," which was co-written by Branch andMorgan Kibby from M83, and "City"- a song about having the courage to walk away and start over. "Keith Jeffery from Atlas Genius sings this with me," Branch says. "He was on tour in London when I was working there. I wrote it one morning and asked him to come and sing on the demo later that day." Michelle and her band, (Patrick Carney on drums and husband and wife duo, Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley from indie pop band Tennis) performed tracks from the upcoming album to a sold-out crowd of industry professionals at the Bowery Electric in New York City on January 25th. Branch was 17 when she signed with Maverick Records. The label had heard her independently released album Broken Bracelet and was impressed by her obvious songwriting talent, powerful vocal delivery, and precocious guitar chops at a time when many young female artists were singing other people's songs. In 2001, Branch released The Spirit Room , which sold two million copies in the U.S., thanks to the catchy, heartfelt hits "Everywhere" and "All You Wanted," and ushered in a new era of young women writing and performing their own songs. She followed it up with 2003's Hotel Paper, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart and became Branch's second platinum-selling disc in the U.S. It spawned the hit single "Are You Happy Now?" which was nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best Female Rock Performance." Branch also won a Grammy for singing on Carlos Santana's "The Game of Love," which reached No. 5 on Billboard's Hot 100 and spent many weeks atop the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. In 2006, Branch found success with modern-country duo The Wreckers, whose debut Stand Still, Look Pretty was praised by critics for breaking down barriers between pop and country. The gold-certified album spawned the hit single "Leave the Pieces," which topped the Hot Country Songs chart for several weeks, as well as "My Oh My" and "Tennessee," and earned Branch her fourth Grammy nomination. (She was also nominated for Best New Artist in 2003.) Track listing below: 1. Best You Ever2. You're Good3. Fault Line4. Heartbreak Now5. Hopeless Romantic6. Living a Lie7. Knock Yourself Out8.
