Fat White Family Side Project The Moonlandingz Share Tender New Song

(featuring members of Fat White Family and Eccentronic Research Council) Share New Track 'The Strangle Of Anna' featuring Rebecca Taylor from Slow Club Song taken from forthcoming debut album INTERPLANETARY CLASS CLASSICS Includes Guest Appearances from Yoko Ono, Randy (the Cowboy from the Village People) and Phil Oakey (The Human League)  Released March 24th On Chimera Music Credit; Chris Saunders
"Mind-blowing" The Quietus "Glam-stomp saucy disco doom for a new world order." MOJO “Feral antics and louche anarchy!”  The Guardian The Moonlandingz are the semi-fictional psych-pop group put together by Sheffield’s practical electronics wizards and analogue taxidermists, The Eccentronic Research Council (Adrian Flanagan and Dean Honer) and Fat White Family'sLias Saoudi and Saul Adamczewski.    ' The Strangle of Anna' is a warm and tender pop duet, featuring everyone's hero of the hour 'Johnny Rocket' (aka Lias) and the UK's finest female song siren, Rebecca Taylor from Slow Club. The song is all set to warm the nation’s hearts during this cold and politically deranged winter of discontent and will almost definitely set those in chains free… it’s a record about liberation, finding a voice and standing up.  Featured earlier today on 6 Music in the UK on Lauren Laverne, it is also scheduled to be played on Marc Riley's show. The song is taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album, INTERPLANETARY CLASS CLASSICS (released March 24ththrough  Chimera Music ) and features guest appearances from Randy Jones (the Cowboy from The Village People), Phil Oakey and Yoko Ono, along with drummer Ross Orton and bassist Mairead O’Connor. Written, recorded and produced by the band at studios in Sheffield and New York, it also features co-producer Sean Lennon on guitar and additional drums and bass and was mixed by legendary Flaming Lips/Tame Impala/MGMT producer, Dave Fridmann. The album is a feast of swirling juddering synths, wailing guitars, motorik stomp and extraordinary songwriting - weird, catchy, glorious and filthy pop. The Moonlandingz have proven themselves to be one of the best live bands in the UK and next month kick off an 11 date headlining tour, before heading into Europe and ending with their biggest show to date at Village Underground in London on April 4th. They will be joined on these dates by their special guests, new Rough Trade signings, Goat Girl. Stay tuned for more news, including US shows.  The first song shared from the album was  Black Hanz , which is currently on A-list rotation on BBC Radio 6. Watch videos for Black Hanz and Sweet Saturn Mine (Sean Lennon De-Mix) - both directed by musician Charlotte Kemp Muhl (of The GOASTT)
 The Black Hanz EP is available digitally, featuring a special mix (non-LP) and 3 other non-LP tracks: Drop It Fauntleroy, The Cement Garden (interlude) Psych Ersatz (ERC Rasper Four Eyes De-Mix). LIVE SHOWS: MARCH (UK): 22nd - Newcastle - Cluny23rd - Glasgow - Stereo24th - Dublin - Whelans25th -  Liverpool -  Invisible Wind Factory28th -  Birmingham - Hare & Hounds29th - Nottingham - Rescue Rooms30th - Manchester - Gorilla APRIL (UK/EUROPE): 1st  - Sheffield - Leadmill2nd - Bristol -  Thekla3rd - Portsmouth - Wedgewood Rooms4th -  London - Village Underground19th - Oxford - The Bullingdon20th - Rouen - Le 106 Club21st  - Bourges  - Le Printemps de Bourges Festival22nd - Cologne  - Artheater24th  - Berlin - Katine am Berghain25th - Hamburg - Molotow26th - Amsterdam - Paradiso27th  - Paris - Point FMR

Mark Lanegan Band Announce New Album "Gargoyle" || Out April 28th Via Heavenly Recordings

Mark Lanegan Band Announce New Album Gargoyle, Out April 28th Via Heavenly Recordings
Shares New Track “Nocturne” on StereogumPhoto credit: Eric GabrielHeavenly Recordings are thrilled to announce the release of  Gargoyle , the new album from Mark Lanegan Band on April 28th. The 10-track LP features guest appearances from long-time collaborators Josh Homme, Greg Dulli and Duke Garwood. Lead track ‘Nocturne’ is currently premiering on Stereogumand can be heard  HERE

Early in 2016, Mark was at home in LA, working on some ideas for what might turn into his next album when he got an email from a friend, an English musician named Rob Marshall, thanking Mark for contributing to a new project he was putting together, Humanist. The pair first met in 2008, when Marshall’s former band Exit Calm supported Soulsavers, who Mark was singing with at the time. Now Rob was offering to write Mark some music to return the favor: “I was like, Hey man, I’m getting ready to make a record, if you’ve got anything?’” Mark recalls. “Three days later he sent me *10 things… !”

In the meantime, Mark had written ‘Blue Blue Sea’, a rippling mood piece that he thought might be a more fruitful direction for his new record. “It’s almost always how my records start,” he explains. “I let the first couple of songs tell me what the next couple should sound like, and it’s really the same process when I’m writing words. Whatever my first couple of lines are tell me what the next couple should be. I’ve always built things like that, sort of like making a sculpture I guess.”

Within an hour, Mark had written words and vocal lines for two of the pieces Rob had cooked up at Mount Sion Studios in Kent and pinged through the virtual clouds to California. Rob's music fitted perfectly with the direction Mark had been pondering: in essence, a more expansive progression from the moody Krautrock-influenced electronica textures of his two previous albums, ‘Blues Funeral’ and ‘Phantom Radio’. Eventually, Rob Marshall would co-write six of the songs on the new Mark Lanegan Band album. “I was very thankful to become reacquainted with him,” Mark deadpans.

The remainder of the album was written, recorded and produced by Lanegan's longtime musical amanuensis Alain Johannes at his 11 AD base in West Hollywood. Everything was done and dusted within a month, unusually fast by Lanegan’s recent standards. “I definitely feel like I’m a better songwriting than I was 15 years ago,” he says. “I don’t know if I’m just kidding myself or what, but it’s definitely easier now to make something that is satisfying to me. Maybe I’m just easier on myself these days, but it’s definitely not as painful a process, and therefore I feel I’m better at it now. But part of the way that I stay interested in making music is by collaborating with other people. When I see things through somebody else’s perspective it’s more exciting than if I’m left to my own devices.”

While sharing roots with its two predecessors, on  Gargoyle  there’s a significant up-shift in the swaggering powerlode of such keynote songs as Nocturne and Beehive, while the lyrics’ tonal palette is more varied. The album title comes from a lyric in Blue Blue Sea – “Gargoyle perched on gothic spire” – and was chosen for its hint of self-deprecation. “I’m most proud of the songs that are atypical to stuff that I’ve done in the past” says Mark. “So I really like Old Swan, because it’s an expression of positivity, which is completely anti-anything I’ve done before!” He laughs. “Y’know, I haven’t played this record for too many people yet. I played it for Greg Dulli, who played on some of it, and he was like, ‘Wow, I had to listen to it twice – it sounds like he’s having a good time…’

It's been a long journey travelled, not always easy, but in 2017, at the age of 52, Lanegan's got the look of permanence about him. Like that gargoyle on the gothic spire….

An extensive European tour has also been announced throughout the summer, beginning in the UK with the below dates which include a Glastonbury festival appearance:

Taffy Unveil Video For New Single "DD"

TAFFY UNVEIL VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “DD”LIFTED FROM THEIR FORTHCOMING ALBUM
‘NYCTOPHILIA’RELEASED APRIL 7TH VIA CLUB AC30
Watch Here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6kiAnAk-wI

Critically acclaimed Japanese indie-pop four piece Taffy are back, unveiling the video for their new single “DD” -  lifted from their fourth studio album, ‘Nyctophilia’, released April 7th on London’s premiere shoegaze and post rock label, Club AC30.
A swirl of transcendental melodies, new single ‘DD’ is a reverb-laden cacophony of fuzz bass and soaring, anthemic vocals backed with beautiful, psychedelic soundscapes. Tracks such as ‘Runic Wade’ and ‘Lavendery’ take a step away from layered guitar work and take a more delicate approach, with dynamic and spacious recordings that give center stage to Iris’ blissful and otherworldly vocals.
‘Nyctophilia’ showcases everything you could want from a Taffy record, but with a subtle difference. “I always write the songs as singles” explains singer Iris, “but for this album, for the first time, I wrote songs just to be part of the album”, and this is evident upon first listen. This album builds on the bands atmospheric guitar work and noise-rock sound, all the while showcasing their renowned dreamy, sugar-sweet songwriting under-pinned by Graham Coxon-esque 90’s guitar riffs.
The album name displays a certain continuity with their lauded 2015 EP, ‘Darkle’ conveying feelings of darkness and love for the night, almost in direct contrast to the band’s bright, shimmering sound.
‘Nyctophilia’ is released on April 7th on London alternative label Club AC30, who have had recent success with bands such as Pinkshinyultrablast, Fever Dream and Ringo Deathstarr.

SAVOY MOTEL PLAY HEADLINE SHOW AT THE ECHO THIS WEDNESDAY / CURRENTLY ON TOUR WITH THE LEMON TWIGS

Savoy Motel Play Headline Show At The Echo This Wednesday Currently On Tour With The Lemon Twigs Self-Titled Debut Album Available On What's Your Rupture? Records  LISTEN

Photo: Semi Song The debut album by Nashville's Savoy Motel comes from a pedigree of garage, punk, and power-pop groups (bassistJeffrey Novak founded both Cheap Time and the Rat Traps; drummer Jessica McFarland was also in Cheap Time, and along with guitarists Dillon Watson and Mimi Galbierz, played in Heavy Cream). Savoy Motel transposes the energy and hooks of those groups to an entirely different move: an intensely orchestrated hybrid of glam rock, soul, dance music, and showmanship. “We use rock and roll as a vehicle to reach and promote the feeling of TOTAL FREEDOM,” claims Dillon. “Savoy Motel is defined more by a feeling than a sound.” Savoy Motel achieves a compositional harmony through the meshing of the clockwork precision in the rhythms of each song, with Jessica hammering out the beats alongside a vintage Rhythm King drum machine, and Mimi locking in on guitar, alongside the interplay of three lead vocalists, while Dillon rips intense fuzz leads on every track, and Jeffrey adds the hooks on his bass. Dillon remarks: “After Jeffrey repeatedly insisted that I play more and more like Jimi and Clapton, I realized that he wanted the shit to rock, and that he was not only unafraid of, but actually going for what a lot of contemporaries would consider faux pas. I think we were all ready for something radical and new, and Jeffrey was ready to lead us there.” The whole package opens up their horizons, and yours, to a sound made by four friends tired of witnessing music eat its own tail; with unclouded judgment, creative refinements, and peerless technique, they grab that tail and stick it into a wall socket, putting the cap back on 15+ years of rock revivalism and strident genre adherence. And they make it seem easy. If it was that easy, though, everybody else would be doing it. Look around you. That’s not happening. Savoy Motel is happening. “Whatever musical past we had feels obsolete compared to what we’re doing now,” says Jeffrey. “The past turned its back on us, so we had to turn our backs on the past in order to find our future.” The band are currenlly on tour with The Lemon Twigs, but take a quick break to headline at the Echo this Wednesday, February 8th.   Videos:Souvenir Shop RockSorry People (all shows with The Lemon Twigs, except *** where noted):

Closeness (Orenda & Todd Fink) Share New Single “End Of The Maze” With Brooklyn Vegan; Personality Therapy EP Due February 24 On Graveface Records

CLOSENESS (ORENDA & TODD FINK) SHARE NEW SINGLE “END OF THE MAZE” WITH BROOKLYN VEGAN
PERSONALITY THERAPY  EP DUE FEBRUARY 24 ON GRAVEFACE RECORDS Stream: "End Of The Maze" at Brooklyn Vegan or Soundcloud
Stream: "More Romantic" at Stereogum or Soundcloud
CLOSENESS will release their debut EP Personality Therapy on February 24 via Graveface Records. The EP is available to pre-order digitally and on limited edition vinyl now in the Graveface Records Online Store . Today, the band has shared "End Of The Maze" from the upcoming release with  Brooklyn Vegan . The track is also available to share at  Souncloud . CLOSENESS will be performing live in March at SXSW and has announced shows in Omaha, Oklahoma City, OK, Chicago and Queens, NY as part of the Unseen Hand Art Exhibit. All upcoming tour dates are listed below.
Todd Fink (born Todd Baechle) and wife Orenda Fink converged first on tour, then in love and now in music. CLOSENESS, the couple’s first group together, is the result of two incredibly talented musicians melding in life and in art.
Both halves of this new project have work spanning a variety of venerated musical outfits. Todd is most notably the frontman of The Faint, while Orenda is best known as one-half of the slick Azure Ray, and has credits including Moby, Bright Eyes, Paul Kalkbrenner, Eric Bachmann, Delerium, Sparklehorse, and Isaac Brock.
Todd and Orenda had often talked about starting a band together after meeting and falling in love in 2002 (married in 2005) but had always been busy with other projects.
In 2015, they were energized to finally realize their vision for a band together. In an amalgam of their previous work, CLOSENESS emerges with an electronic but shadowy southern gothic sound. Todd’s high-energy, cool and synthetic voice lifts and energizes Orenda’s mystical and warm-hearted aura.
Their debut work, which Todd  recorded, produced and mixed in his home studio, is ripe with dreamlike scenarios, skirting the edge of otherworldliness. Pulsating rhythms boom and break around futuristic vocals from both. Together, they create a unified archetype that is moody, therapeutic and deeply inspired by the most basic questions about life, meaning, love and death.
Musically, the two are inspired by The Knife, Pink Floyd, The Zombies, Tr/st, Crystal Castles, John Carpenter, and Health. The couple also cites Alan Watts, Carl Jung, Alejandro Jodorowiski, G.I. Gurdjieff, Tibetan Book Of The Dead, i, and The Enneagram in their catalog of general influences.CLOSENESS TOUR DATES

On the heels of their third studio album  Everything Is My Family  which garnered acclaim from the likes of NPR and Noisey, London-based Crystal Fighters announce a U.S. tour that kicks off March 25th and hits cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, DC, and more. Tickets are available for purchase here.

In anticipation, Crystal Fighters share the official  “Lay Low” video  with Yahoo! Music, directed by Wayne McCauslin. The band comments:

"Lay Low was inspired by the passing of our brother and drummer,  Andrea Marongiu , and the main singalong came from an impromptu backstage chant, at one of our final shows together. Andrea brought Crystal Fighters alive when he joined the family with his phenomenally skillful drumming, and immeasurably lifted the spirit of the band, and whoever crossed his path, as one of the kindest and most charismatic gentlemen out there.

This song is about looking after your friends and family; it's about taking the time to try and leave a positive impact on earth everyday, as if it's your last. It's about remembering to hug and high five your friends every time you see them, and to take the time to appreciate every moment we are given here on this beautiful planet. With this song we pay homage to the miracle of the known, the mystery of the unknown, and our limited time within it.”

A truly international band who learn from humanity’s most ancient traditions, Everything Is My Family sees Crystal Fighters emerge with a work that pushes the boundaries while remaining true to their authentic sound. Comprised of singer Sebastian ‘Bast’ Pringle, guitar and txalaparta player Graham Dickson and multi-instrumentalist Gilbert Vierich, the band has garnered over 350 million streams to date as they continue to gain international attention.
