The Black Angels Share New Track "I'd Kill For Her"Upcoming Album 'Death Song' Out April 21 on Partisan Records
The Black Angels have shared the second track from their upcoming album ‘Death Song’, out April 21st on Partisan Records. Called “I’d Kill For Her”, the new track just premiered via Dangerous Minds, who called the band “psychedelia’s premier standard bearers.” They also chatted with the band’s Alex Maas about the new project, read/listen here: http://bit.ly/2ncZJgbProduced by Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, The Shins), ‘Death Song’ features some of the heaviest music these psych rockers have ever put to wax – slow-burning, menacing fuzz earworms meditating on the realities of society and devotion. The album’s opening track, “Currency”, has already earned raves everywhere from the New York Times to NPR Music, who say “heavy psych rarely feels as fresh as it does with The Black Angels”.Listen to “Currency” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qryaZmxdK1AOn April 22nd, a special limited edition release of ‘Death Song’ will be made available in honor of Record Store Day, including the new album on two glow-in-the-dark vinyl LPs and packaging printed entirely in blacklight-reactive ink. RYAN ADAMSPRISONER TOUR DATE ADDS NEW YORK ENCORE AND PHILADELPHIA DATES DUE TO POPULAR DEMANDSecond Beacon Theater Show Confirmed for May 2ndMay 6th at Tower Theater in Philadelphia Added
His Apollo Theater show on the February 17 release date of his new Prisoner (PAX AM/Blue Note) was one of the hottest tickets in recent NYC memory. His May 3rd Beacon Theater Prisoner Tour date has sold out. The Manhattan media has heaped accolades on Prisoner, not least of which NEW YORK Magazine hailing the new LP as “genius… the best thing he’s put out in a decade”…… And now, due to overwhelming demand, Ryan and his band will add a second show at New York’s Beacon Theater on May 2nd.And with demand for more dates on the Prisoner tour escalating everywhere, a May 6th show at Philadelphia has been added to the itinerary.Presales for the newly added Prisoner tour dates begin March 15th at 10am ET, with tickets going on sale to the general publicMarch 17th at 11am ET.Ryan Adams’ Prisoner debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top Album chart, #1 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart and #8 on the Top-200. The album continues to generate some of the best critical notices of the multiple-Grammy-nominated Adams’ storied career, while the additional NYC date is one of several new shows added to the Prisoner Tour to accommodate demand.Meanwhile, reviews of the tour’s first few stops in the southern U.S. are already echoing the raves that heralded Prisoner’s release:“Adams’ set was among one of the best sounding the National has hosted in recent years… Richmond seemed energized for a second evening with Adams.”—RVA Magazine“Adams performed 26 songs in a set that stretched past two hours, with no intermission, no encore and no lack of intensity… his strongest statement of resistance and resolve. That the audience sang along with, and not over, Adams… proved just how far he and his fans have come.”—SOUTH FLORIDA.comSee below for all confirmed tour dates. “It seems great opportunities come in blessings as well as tragedies,” Kacey Johansing sings on the title track of her third album, The Hiding. After the breakup of her band Yesway, and an abrupt falling out with her closest musical collaborator, Johansing set out to record a new batch of songs that resulted from the sea change in which she had now found herself.
Instead of drawing from her regular band, Johansing pulled from a wider cast of players that she’d come to know in the community of musicians throughout California and the West Coast. The resulting sound is one based wholly and unabashedly in pop. Nods to Christine McVie and Fleetwood Mac can be heard, but Johansing brings these sounds to a modern stage, blending her ethereal vocals with effervescent synthesizer washes and reverberating open-tuned guitar.
Recorded at Panoramic House in Stinson Beach, where Kacey worked as caretaker, as well as at home in Bolinas, on a ridge above the cloud layer in Big Sur, and at a friend’s studio in Portland, the album also serves as a document of Kacey’s time spent traveling in search of the sound she was after. After finishing initial tracking, and still reeling from the heartbreak of losing her musical community, Johansing found a necessary move was in order. Landing somewhat-blindly in Los Angeles, she continued to work on the album and hold it close. The end result isThe Hiding, a tone poem about loss, growth and “leaving the insular beauty of a tight-knit community,” as Johansing describes it. The release of The Hiding comes at a time when Johansing is deeply longing to emerge from her extended absence and reconnect with her desire to create and share her music.“The Hiding” is set for release June 2 on Night Bloom Records, a brand new label Johansing founded with Real Estate’s Alex Bleeker and longtime-friend and songwriter Jeff Manson.TOUR DATES:

Thurston Moore Announces New Album "Rock n Roll Consciousness" + Shares First Single- Out April 28th
THURSTON MOORE
ROCK N ROLL CONSCIOUSNESS
NEW ALBUM OUT APRIL 28TH
WATCH VIDEO FOR "SMOKE OF DREAMS"
ON US TOUR THIS MAY
Rock n Roll Consciousness , the new album by Thurston Moore , is set for release onApril 28th on Caroline International. The album was recorded with producer Paul Epworth (Adele, The Pop Group) at The Church studios in Crouch End, London and mixed by Randall Dunn (Marissa Nadler, Earth) at Avast! in Seattle, Washington. Pre-order the record HERE.
The songs Thurston wrote for Rock n Roll Consciousness were brought to life and galvanized by the tight bond of friendship amongst the musicians, a line-up with which he's been working since 2014: Deb Googe (of My Bloody Valentine, Snowpony) bass,James Sedwards (Nøught, Chrome Hoof) guitar and Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth, Crucifucks) drums. The recording highlights the group's instrumental strength and beauty following two solid years of touring 2015's critically acclaimed The Best Day album.
Today, Moore shares the first single off the record, titled "Smoke of Dreams". A song that focuses on the contemplative mystery of life-defining time travel which sees Thurstonrecalling a New York City where spirits informed artists seeking poems of beatitude and sonic prayers of joy and wild wonder.
Watch the video of the song HERE.
Rock n Roll Consciousness offers a wild leap forward in its expansive, anthemic and exploratory investigations, heralding love between angels, goddess mysticism and belief in healing through rebirth. Inspirited by radical love and the energies of the challenged soul of Mother Earth/Nature in direct resistance, the music is decidedly charged by the force of positive action and a great, true love where the feminine/masculine come together in fluid unions of beauty and light.
"Exalted", with lyrics by poet Radio Radieux, is an unfolding and emotional journey in homage to sacred energy and exaltation - a drug-infused visit from sacred womyn, sibyls, prophetesses, oracles, and goddesses reclaiming consciousness.
"Cusp" is a springtime charging, propulsive singing, moving march of noise and layered harmonics, with a feeling of Sonic Youth mixed with My Bloody Valentine. Radio Radieux'lyrics (with background vocals by Deb Googe) evoke the bliss of total love where all dangers subside and creative power engages trans-mind energy.
"Turn On" is a pop-sonic poem to holy love both intimate and cosmic - a patient, yet driving song, which opens space for lead guitar extensions by James Sedwards.
"Aphrodite", a strange and heavy No wave rocker in salutation to the icon of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation, enumerates tools beyond the consciousness: electric guitars, the power of mind, imagination, will and intention to practice magick. Thurston sings of spells and possession as he and James pick up energies from string sorcery in a true group séance. Steve Shelley transmits the power of the symbolic into actual shimmering cymbal resonance and Deb Googe's bass weaves a mesmeric psychic shaping - all in service to the mystic song.
Rock n Roll Consciousness is a new and exhilarating chapter for Thurston Moore and promises to be a creative highpoint for anyone interested in his legacy of avant-garde music and writing. Serious, precocious yet strangely accessible, Rock n Roll Consciousness is as strong a statement as anything he has recorded these last three decades: from Sonic Youth, the band he founded in 1980, to his solo work ranging from 1995's Psychic Hearts album, to the Beck-produced Demolished Thoughts album of 2011, as well as his myriad collaborations and completely outside-the-margin recordings on a litany of labels (as detailed in author Nick Soulsby's new investigative book We Sing A New Language - The Oral Discography of Thurston Moore ).
The Thurston Moore Group commence touring springtime 2017 featuring the line-up ofJames Sedwards, Deb Googe and Steve Shelley in USA, UK, Europe, Asia and beyond.
The North American Tour Dates are:May 8 - Vancouver, BC - The ImperialMay 9 - Seattle, WA - NeumosMay 10 - Portland, OR - Mississippi StudiosMay 12 - San Francisco, CA - The ChapelMay 13 - Los Angeles, CA - The Teragram BallroomMay 14 - Santa Ana, CA - Constellation RoomMay 17 - Austin, TX - The MohawkMay 18 - Dallas, TX - Club Dada

Aimee Mann debuts video for "Goose Snow Cone" + Mental Illness out March 31
AIMEE MANN DEBUTS NEW VIDEO FOR “GOOSE SNOW CONE”MENTAL ILLNESS OUT MARCH 31 VIA SUPEREGO RECORDSSPRING TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
“One of the top 10 living songwriters along with Paul McCartney,Bob Dylan and
Bruce Springsteen.”
“One of the finest songwriters
of her generation.”
Aimee Mann’s music video for her track “Goose Snow Cone” debuts today. Of the video Mann says, “I wrote ‘Goose Snow Cone’ when I was on tour in Ireland, on a cold and snowy day. I was feeling very homesick when I saw a picture on Instagram of a cat I know named Goose. Her fluffy white face was looking up at the camera in a very plaintive way, like a little snowball, and I started singing a little song about her that turned into a song about loneliness. I intended to change the lyrics but could never find a phrase to replace the one I started with. When it came time to make a video, I knew the original Goose had to be in it. Her owners are my friends Rob and Puloma who coincidentally produce and direct videos. One of my cats had recently gone through a long illness and I was thinking about that when I came up with the idea for the video, and I knew Puloma had to star in it, as she has a very lovely and expressive face. The vet in the video is my actual vet and he’s a great guy. It was not easy wrangling Goose but the magic of editing makes it all work!” Watch/share the video here: http://bit.ly/2o0CBid.The track appears on her highly anticipated new album
Mental Illness
, out on March 31 via her own SuperEgo Records, which has already begun to receive early critical praise from the
Los Angeles Times
, who says “Every doomed syllable is sacred and every tragic rhyme fits, as though each song were a puzzle to which only Mann knows the solution,” while NPR Music furthers “Mental Illness can be punishingly sad, but also breathtakingly pretty.” Mental Illness can be pre-ordered now at
hyperurl.co/aimeemann
.Mental Illness shows off Mann’s rich, incisive and wry melancholia in an almost all-acoustic format, with a “finger-picky” style inspired by some of her favorite ‘60s and ‘70s folk-rock records, augmented by haunting strings arranged by her longtime producer, Paul Bryan. Additional players include: Jonathan Coulton on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, Jay Bellerose on drums, Jamie Edwards on piano, John Roderick as a co-writer and Ted Leo (who recently joined her in a joint side project, The Both) as a background singer. On this eleven-track album, the Oscar-nominated, Grammy-winning singer remains a student of human behavior, drawing not just on her own experiences to form the characters in the songs but tales told by friends. “I assume the brief on me is that people think that I write these really depressing songs,” Mann says. “I don’t know—people may have a different viewpoint—but that’s my own interpretation of the cliché about me. So if they thought that my songs were very down-tempo, very depressing, very sad and very acoustic, I thought I’d just give myself permission to write the saddest, slowest, most acoustic, if-they’re-all-waltzes-so-be-it record I could…I mean, calling it Mental Illness makes me laugh, because it is true, but it’s so blunt that it’s funny.”In support of the release, Mann will play a headlining North American tour this spring with stops in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia and more. Tickets can be purchased here: aimeemann.com/tour. See below for complete tour details. After several albums with Til Tuesday, Mann began her solo career in 1993 with the album Whatever and made a name for herself through her independent success and the founding of her record label, SuperEgo Records. In addition to her solo albums, she has appeared on many film soundtracks, most notably the score for Paul Thomas Anderson’sMagnolia, with “Save Me” landing her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song.In 2014, Mann joined up with Ted Leo for a more rock-oriented duo project, releasing a self-titled album under the nameThe Both. Other extracurricular activities since her previous record Charmer ranged from playing herself on the hit TV series Portlandia to performing for President Obama and the First Lady at the White House. Named one of The Huffington Post’s “13 Funny Musicians You Should Be Following On Twitter,” Mann has gained a diehard social media following for her quick wit and stinging observation.
