Tei Shi Releases New Single "Justify," East Coast Headline Dates Announced
TEI SHI RELEASES NEW SINGLE "JUSTIFY"
EAST COAST HEADLINE DATES ANNOUNCED
DEBUT ALBUM CRAWL SPACE TO BE RELEASED MARCH 31ST ON DOWNTOWN / INTERSCOPE RECORDS
Photo Credit: JJ MedinaFollowing a week of incredible performances and praise from critics and fans alike at Austin's SXSW festival, Tei Shi has debuted "Justify" off of her highly anticipated debut album Crawl Space, which is out March 31st on Downtown/Interscope Records.
Stream/Share "Justify"
Valerie Teicher aka Tei Shi noted, "Justify is a kind of protest song against the way in which we are categorized or judged by others based off of very superficial or one dimensional standards. It came from a place of rebellion against the insecurities and pressures that come into play when you put yourself in a position to be defined by another. For me the song is a challenge against that musically and emotionally."
Tei Shi is wrapping up a tour with MØ and has also announced another round of tour dates this Spring, headlining shows in NYC, Boston and DC. Tickets are on sale now and a full rundown can be found below.
Watch/share the video for "How Far"
The pre-order for Crawl Space now available.
"Tei Shi's vibrant music video for "Keep Running"... is a hypnotic visual expression of the dynamic track." Billboard
"Prepare your roommates for the impromptu karaoke sessions you'll be having to this song all year long." Cosmopolitan, 25 Albums to Obsess Over in 2017
"Tei Shi may have been a long time coming, but "Keep Running" feels like the debut of an artist properly establishing her musical identity with plenty of potential for success." V Magazine
""Keep Running," a silky slip of R&B pop, a little Jesse Ware, a little Solange. The video, directed by Agostina Gálvez, which you can watch below, features the Colombian-born singer back to brunette, in various satiny numbers, curving her body with the sensual ease with which she delivers her melodies." Noisey
"Tei Shi's acrobatic vocals shine once again on "How Far,"... The track - which pairs gut-wrenching lyrics like "If it pleases you to see me struggle/ I will" with dreamy guitars and buzzing production - explores the thin line between love and destruction. And it'll stick with you."FADER
" Fluttering above light, synth-driven production, the singer's sunny vocals shine, asserting herself as both a prolific producer and acrobatic vocalist." - Out Magazine, Women In Power-Pop: 50 Musicians Taking Over
Upcoming Tour Dates:5.9.17 - Rough Trade - Brooklyn, NY5.11.17 - Great Scott - Boston, MA5.12.17 - Songbyrd - Washington, DC5.13.17 - Radio 104.5 10th Birthday Celebration - Camden NJ

Boss Hog Release First Album In 17 Years Brood X Today + US Tour
Boss Hog Release Brood X Today

First Album in 17 Years, On In The Red Records
Read The New York Times & The Quietus Features
US Tour Launches in NYC March 30, Watch Trailer Here
“a rallying cry for turbulent times… powered by a swaggering defiance”
Uncut
New York City’s Boss Hog have released their new album Brood X today via In The Red Records. The record is their first full-length LP in 17 years. Watch and share the album trailer here.
Boss Hog’s US tour kicks off with a sold out NYC record release show on March 30 atMercury Lounge. Tour dates include Washington DC, Philadelphia, Detroit and more. Watch + share the tour trailer here.
Led by Cristina Martinez (ably assisted by her faithful sideman/husband Jon Spencer, as ever playing Flavor Flav to Cristina’s Chuck D), Brood X feels less like the work of a group who’ve been on ice for so long, more a slithering and sludgy monster of an album, a boiling pot of hot funk keys, growling punk attack, searing blues breaks and the ground-shaking holler of Martinez.
On hiatus since they finished promoting 2000’s icy, wonderful ‘Whiteout’ album, Boss Hog began stirring again late in 2008 with the first of several short runs of shows. “We’d play a handful of shows, once a year,” Martinez remembers. “Festivals, the Amphetamine Reptile 25th Anniversary party, some benefit shows.” Things started getting serious a couple of years later, when the Boss Hog all-stars – Martinez, Spencer, bassist Jen Jurgensen, drummer Hollis Queens and keysman Mickey Finn – decided this reunion habit was worth committing to wax.
Cooked up in the same Lower East Side basement where Boss Hog brewed their first blistering noiseouts, and cut at Michigan’s Key Club Recording Company on the same Flickinger N32 Matrix console Sly Stone used for There’s A Riot Goin’ On, ‘Brood X’ is serious music for serious times, the perfect soundtrack for a necessary revolution.
The 17-year cicadas have re-awoken, and not a moment too soon. New York has changed beyond recognition and there’s a buffoonish villain entering the White House, but Martinez’s towering vocals and vicious, hilarious, emboldening lyrics have never sounded so sharp, nor Boss Hog so timely. Opener ‘Billy’, all brawny low-end and delirious funk organ, finds Cristina and Jon howling about “The brink of destruction!” over apocalyptic beats, while Ground Control, a prismatic vision of today’s Big Apple, includes the bitter observation, “This is the cost of privilege”.
“A lot of Cristina’s lyrics on this album resonate with me more deeply since the election,” nods Spencer. “They’re blues songs, protest songs.”
“The songs do feel oddly relevant now,” Cristina adds.

LOOPER (Stuart David and Karn David) release
Farfisa Song
as a 2-track single which includes a new acoustic version and have unveiled an new animated video, watch it via Out.com
HERE
.
The single is taken from Offgrid:Offline , Looper’s latest album, released in a limited edition of 500 on transparent blue vinyl on May 12, 2017. Pre-order HERE .
The “Farfisa Song” video was animated by Iain Gardner from Animation Garden and features Mustard & Ketchup, two gay badgers “who love each other very much” in their first outing to the world. Explains Gardener, “After seeing my last collaboration with Looper Oh, Skinny Legs screen at the Aesthetica Festival, I really wanted to do another one! I loved how Farfisa Song harked back to sounds from my youth, and consequently found inspiration from 1970s variety shows for the video.”
Looper, talking about the video, say "When Iain first told us about Mustard and Ketchup we loved the fact that they live in a world where there is no stigma attached to being gay, but where it is frowned upon to be a badger. Looper are extremely Pro-Badger, so we are proud to have worked with them on this video.”
Offgrid:Offline was released digitally only within the band’s 5CD box set, These Things. The vinyl is a limited edition of 500 and includes a download with three previously unreleased tracks, “Our Own Way Home,” (the original song that became the intro and outro on the album, and the melodic theme that occurs throughout), “Lucky Tui” and “The Back Roads.”
Looper emerged from Belle & Sebastian in 1997, when Stuart David (co-founder and bass player of B&S) and his wife Karn (an artist who directed the early B&S videos) collaborated for a show at Glasgow School of Art. A degree show fundraiser for Stuart’s sister Karla Black – who received a Turner Prize nomination in 2011 – the performance was a multi-media affair incorporating TVs, Super 8 film, 35mm slides and kinetic sculptures. Since nothing broke down and everyone clapped, they decided to keep doing it.
The band went on to release four albums via Sub Pop, Jeepster & Mute, with many of their tracks appearing in film, including “Mondo 77” which appeared in Cameron Crowe's Vanilla Sky. Watch the recent video for that track HERE .
After a break from music for a few years, Karn went back to art school to study animation and Stuart turned his focus to studying literature and writing novels, a move to the remote countryside, post-study, prompted the creation of a new body of work.
Offgrid:Offline, the band’s fifth studio album, was the result - these new songs and stories, inspired by the return to peace and quiet and influenced by indie-folk music saw Looper conscious of the very different styles of previous albums. They set out to bring together elements of each into this new work. Structured like the first album, around a recurring melody, Offgrid:Offline is thematically centred on the spoken word piece which gives the album its title, drawing together the musical motifs and lyrical themes from throughout.

Pavement's Spiral Stairs announces tour, shares "Emoshuns" video - new album Doris & The Daggers is out today!
Pavement's Spiral Stairs announces tour, shares "Emoshuns" video - new album Doris & The Daggers is out today!
VIDEO: "Emoshuns" (Dir. by Joe Salinas) -
YouTube
Spiral Stairs (Pavement's Scott Kannberg) releases his second album under that name, Doris and the Daggers, today on the Nine Mile label in the US (buy it here or stream it here), on Domino in Europe (digital / physical) and on Coolin' By Sound in Australia / New Zealand (purchase here). Today he has shared the official music video for "Emoshuns," directed by Joe Salinas, and also announced a full North American tour (see full dates below). The album features guest appearances from Matt Berninger of The National, Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew and Justin Peroff, Kelley Stoltz and Shudder To Think's Adam Wade.
The Real Feel – the Pavement guitarist and Preston School Of Industry leader’s 3rd album (and first as Spiral Stairs) – arrived in 2009, just as Pavement were announcing a hugely successful burst of reunion shows through 2010. “Then, after the Pavement shows, I moved with my wife to go live in a house in the country near Brisbane, in Australia,” the amiable Scott remembers, of those years of seeming inactivity. “Then we had a kid, and that sort of got in the way. I tried to do music, but all of a sudden it was two years later and I’m mowing my lawn and tending my garden.”
A little while after that, Scott and family got bored of life in Australia and moved to Los Angeles. “I had the perfect set-up there, so I started work. The way I write songs is, I put on my electric guitar and walk around the house and play it and look at myself in the mirror,” he laughs, “and just make up stuff. But because the kid was off at school for three hours a day, I only really had an hour or so to do that. So it took a little time. It was my intention to have done at least a couple more records by now, things just got in the way.”
You can’t hurry genius – not even the genial, unforced and unpretentious genius that has long been Scott’s forte. What’s for sure is his second album as Spiral Stairs, Doris And The Daggers, is worth the wait. It’s some of the best music Scott’s been involved with, and also some of the most personal and emotional music he’s ever written, reflecting the life changes that occurred over those eight years. During that stretch, Scott weathered the loss of friends, treasured the joys of fatherhood, lived life as an Australian and even ate haggis meat – experiences that inform these warm, sweetly melodic and soundly honest songs.TOUR DATES:

Todd Rundgren Spans Generations And Genres On 'White Knight' Out May 12 On Cleopatra RecordsAlbum Features Guests Robyn, Trent Reznor, Dam Funk, Daryl Hall, Donald Fagen, Joe Walsh, Bettye Lavette, Joe Satriani + More
LISTEN TO "THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ME" FEATURING ROBYN VIA PITCHFORK HERE:http://bit.ly/2mLKLKkTodd Rundgren – the iconic songwriter, recording artist, producer and innovator – will release his newest album ‘White Knight’ on May 12 via Cleopatra Records. The 15-track collection features a dynamic range of original songs and deft studio work by Rundgren, with an incredible array of guests to match, including Dam Funk, Donald Fagen, Daryl Hall, Bettye Lavette, Robyn, Joe Satriani, Joe Walsh, and others. Today Pitchfork unveiled album track “That Could Have Been Me” featuring Robyn. Listen here: http://bit.ly/2mLKLKkThe songs on ‘White Knight,’ all Rundgren originals or co-writes with some of the album guests, range from hip-hop flecked funk and dystopian synth rock to soaring ballads and crisp power pop. Album opener “Come” swirls with oscillating rhythms and sweeping layers of synths. More squiggling synths drive the feature with Daryl Hall, “Chance For Us,” giving way to a rich sax solo and a punchy, squelching bass line. Robyn soars on the pop anthem “That Could Have Been Me,” while Todd and Donald Fagen harmonize on the timely political jab “Tin Foil Hat.” “‘Cause the man in the tin foil hat / is sitting on the throne tonight / it kinda feels like a coup e’tat / but its gonna be great, tremendous, amazing and all that.”"It's easy to get used to playing to your own audience, even if you are absorbing and experimenting with new ideas. I wanted to collaborate not just for the musical possibilities, but also to play for new audiences and expose my fans to the range of artists I enjoy working with." – Todd RundgrenSays the New Yorker: “Over the course of his four-decade career, Rundgren has a been a prog-rock pioneer, a blue-eyed soul vocalist, an A-list producer, and above all, a restless presence, never willing to settle.” In addition to his own trailblazing catalog, Rundgren has produced critical landmarks and commercial smashes for artists ranging from New York Dolls, Patti Smith, and XTC, to Meatloaf’s ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ (with sales exceeding 43 million), Cheap Trick, and Hall And Oates. He has composed the music for a number of television series, including Pee Wee’s Playhouse and Crime Story, and been at the forefront of technology in the music industry for decades, whether hosting the first interactive television concert in 1978, offering the first commercially available music downloads, or launching the first direct artist subscription service.Todd Rundgren will tour throughout 2017 with headlining dates kicking off in late April.
