Themes of power and sex, imperiled relationships and death slice through the album, Clark’s first since her 2014 breakout ‘St. Vincent.’ The thirteen tracks on ‘MASSEDUCTION’ swirl with guitar and piano, synths and strings, and drum beats that punch with purpose. The album was co-produced by St. Vincent and Jack Antonoff at Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan, with additional recording at Rough Consumer Studio in Brooklyn, and Compound Fracture in Los Angeles.“Every record I make has an archetype,” says Clark. “‘Strange Mercy’ was Housewives on Pills. ‘St. Vincent’ was Near-Future Cult Leader. ‘MASSEDUCTION’ is different, it’s pretty first person. Dead Leaf Echo has announced its sophomore LP, Beyond.Desire, out October 13th via PaperCup Music. A follow-up to their Strawberry.Skin EP, released earlier this year, the new album was recorded at Mexican Summer's studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with legendary My Bloody Valentine engineer Guy Fixsen and Jorge Elbreht (Ariel Pink, No Joy.) The album's artwork (shown below) is courtesy of 4AD design alumnus Timothy O'Donnell.
Dead Leaf Echo plays self-described "nouveau wave" -- a dark, shimmering mix of shoegaze and layered guitar pop -- and new single "Temple" embodies their signature sound with hazy, reverb-soaked guitars and haunting vocals. Beyond.Desire once again finds the Brooklyn-based band exploring high-arching themes of maturation and growth beyond the basic needs of lust. Its tracks range from shimmering to scorching, operating as both pretty, blissed-out narratives and pure white-noise nihilism. Dead Leaf Echo has toured extensively over the past few years, playing festivals like SXSW, CMJ, and NXNE and supporting bands like Swervedriver, A Place to Bury Strangers, Beach Fossils, and Weekend. “4 Tones to facilitate travel through time.” So begins the listeners’ journey into what has become one of the most treasured and revered pieces of COIL history ever released.Each of the four pieces on Time Machines is named after the chemical compound of the hallucinogenic drug that they were composed for, and the album was meticulously crafted to enable what John Balance referred to as "temporal slips" in time and space, allowing both the artist and audience to figuratively "dissolve time".
Inspired by long form ceremonial music of Tibet and other religions, where the intent is to lose oneself in the music – to meditate or achieve a trance state – Time Machines became Drew McDowall, John Balance, andPeter Christopherson’s “electronic punk-primitive” answer to this tribal concept.
Starting as a rough demo tape recorded solely by Coil member Drew McDowall, Time Machines started to take full form when McDowall enthusiastically delivered these demo recordings to Balance and Christopherson as sketches for a new Coil project with the primary goal of shifting Coil’s sound further into a more conceptually abstract direction. Largely recorded in 1997 using single takes with minimal post production, these four drones contain every intended fluctuation and tone, along with every glitch of the original – “Artifacts generated by your listening environment are an intrinsic part of the experience.”
Dais Records announces the official remastered reissues of Time Machines on both LP, CD, and digital formats. The reissued CD edition includes reproductions of the 6 original vinyl stickers and comes in a double-pocketed brown board digipack. The reissued double vinyl LP will feature deluxe double pocket gatefold, matte with gloss overlay with printed eurosleeves inserts. Vinyl will come in standard black as well as limited edition color versions in red, grey and clear vinyl.

East Coast indie pop act IAN SWEET are currently touring Europe for the first time ever with their friends in Girlpool. Almost immediately after returning to the U.S., they will set out with recent Sub Pop signee Frankie Cosmos for a run of dates across the East Coat and Midwest.
