"Once in a while you find an album that you can listen to anytime, anywhere and get swept away in the current regardless of your surroundings. Spirit of the Golden Juice is one of those albums, and one that we have all enjoyed together as a band in the van on tour.
Through pure chance, we became friends with F.J. McMahon after he contacted us online three years ago, and we have mutual admiration for each other's music. We decided last year to cover Spirit of the Golden Juice. Our own Keven Lareau engineered and produced it, and it was recorded over the course of several months between New Hampshire and New York.
Earlier this summer we were lucky enough to accompany F.J. in Los Angeles as his backing band, playing the entirety of SOTGJ live for the first time ever! If you like our versions of his songs please be sure to check out the reissue of the original, available now on Anthology Records." - Quilt
Quilt's Spirit of the Golden Juice will feature the below artwork and the previously released track "Black Night Woman" and will be limited to 1000 copies on vinyl only. Pre-orders are available now.

ALEXANDRA SAVIOR SHARES NEW VIDEO FOR “GIRLIE”

ALEXANDRA SAVIOR SHARES NEW VIDEO FOR “ GIRLIE Portland native Alexandra Savior has shared her newest video for standout track “Girlie.” The video, written and directed by Alexandra herself, was shot on a Leicina Special Super 8 camera in Cannon Beach and Sauvie Island, both in Oregon. Watch “Girlie” here: http://smarturl.it/GirlieVideo.

Says Alexandra: The video was sort of an emblem to the innocence and awareness of a young girl. I had originally envisioned a very light color palette of pastels, and as the image sat with me I began to develop the concept of Olivia's character and her dilemma. I saw her as child-like and pensive. The concept became that she would be haunted by these angelic figures, three characters I wanted to represent as purely feminine. She is never a part of their figuration but they seem to be focused on her, which is really a part of her imagination and that concept lends to the lyrics of Girlie. I added some symbols of vanity to the three characters such as jewelry, mirrors and brushes to represent their purpose in Olivia's psyche. My main influence visually was Peter Weir's 1975 portrayal of "Picnic at Hanging Rock", so it was important to find a stunning landscape for the shots, I chose Cannon Beach, Oregon because I am very familiar with it from childhood. Shooting on Super 8 proved to be a challenge, but overall the flaws ended up granting a warmth to the video, which is something I was hoping for.

Alexandra Savior made her mark last summer, following the release of her debut single “Shades,” which left Noisey “completely hooked” on the then 21-year old singer/songwriter. Her debut album  Belladonna of Sadness  was released earlier this year to critical praise and was co-written by Alexandra and British rock frontman Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys/Last Shadow Puppets) and co-produced by James Ford (Haim/Florence and the Machine) and Alex Turner.

Grandaddy announces 'Under The Western Freeway' reissue with unreleased tracks

FRIENDSHIP FEVER ANNOUNCES 20th ANNIVERSARY REISSUE OF GRANDADDY'S UNDER THE WESTERN FREEWAY FEATURING PREVIOUSLY-UNRELEASED TRACKS & DEMOS

REVEALS PREVIOUSLY-UNRELEASED TRACK
"HAWAIIAN ISLAND WRANGLERS"

UNDER THE WESTERN FREEWAY (20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION)DUE OCTOBER 20, 2017

STREAM // EMBED "HAWAIIAN ISLAND WRANGLERS"

Sacramento label Friendship Fever is thrilled to announce the 20th Anniversary edition of Grandaddy's now-classic debut,  Under The Western Freeway , due October 20, 2017 (just a day before the album's original release date of October 21, 1997). The deluxe vinyl reissue comes with a separate LP featuring eight previously-unreleased tracks and demos, and the first 250 orders will receive an exclusive bonus cassette titled Practice 97 (which features eight unreleased recordings from a 1997 Grandaddy band practice). To ring in the announcement, Friendship Fever has shared " Hawaiian Island Wranglers ," one of the reissue's previously-unreleased tracks. The song is available to stream or embed  HERE , and the album is available for pre-order  HERE .
Under The Western Freeway is one of the quintessential albums to escape California's Central Valley, and Friendship Fever couldn't be happier to be the ones bringing it back to you. It begs the sunset listen, with the volume at 11. The windows open, bugs sneaking in, the night air cooling off the day's demands.

This vinyl-only re-release features two pieces of beautiful colored vinyl: one featuring the original record, as it was intended, and the other an eight-song collection of demos from 1997, never before released. The demo LP includes sketches of songs that became fan favorites, like "Bjork ELO Xanadu and the Birth of Chartsengrafs" (which would make its debut on the band's groundbreaking follow-up, The Sophtware Slump) and the fan-favorite "For The Dishwasher." The deluxe package is complete with a booklet of personal band photographs, flyers from the era, and liner notes by Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals.

To truly understand how we got here, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Under The Western Freeway, it's important to shed some light on the shadows from which this record emerged. The summer of '97 was marked by the awakening from the woozy post-Cobain slumber that indie rock was mired in. 1997 was a mishmash of various top 10 genres -- from Bjork to Ween to Save Ferris -- and the scene seemed poised for bigger and better things. (Just take a look at the top 10 indie records of 1998 to get an idea of what Under The Western Freeway helped kick off.)

The importance of Under The Western Freeway is further exemplified by how the record grew in its importance among those who stumbled upon it. Zines ruled the day in 1997. Reading about a release, finding that release in stores, and then having the unique pleasure of telling a friend how great a record was exponentially propelled the word-of-mouth growth of this record. Grandaddy seemed to be everyone's unique discovery, everyone's favorite band they whispered the lyrics to, the band they found themselves gravitating toward after they saw what was supposed to be great just wasn't.

Under The Western Freeway didn't start its own scene. No, what made this record and this band unique was that they took their interpretation from many different scenes, as viewed from their skewed perch of Modesto, California, and made their own way into indie rock's top echelon. From the trucker hats to Lytle's hand tattoo that says "skate," to the taking of the best bits of ELO and dropping it into a blender - all of this made for a powerful record released just at the right time. Just enough guitar and keyboards, just enough sadness, just enough ironic, manic-driven happiness that captured what so many were thinking and feeling in the fall of '97.

Roni Size & Reprazent Announce 20th Anniversary Re-Issue of "New Forms"

RONI SIZE & REPRAZENT ANNOUNCE DELUXE REISSUE OF THE MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE WINNING ALBUM

NEW FORMS

PRE-ORDER
https://RoniSize.lnk.to/NewForms20PR

Label: Mercury Records / Universal Music
Release Date: November 10th, 2017

“We never set out to make a crossover” – Roni Size

This November,  New Forms  by Roni Size & Reprazent celebrates its 20th anniversary with a deluxe 4CD / 2LP reissue. To commemorate this era-defining drum ‘n’ bass album, the package will feature a New Forms 20th anniversary live hardware mixprogrammed by Roni featuring previously unreleased remixes and re-edits, remixes from drum ‘n’ bass legends such as GrooveriderSource Direct and Krust (previously only released on vinyl) and the 2017 remaster of the original 2CD / LP.

One of the definitive electronic albums of the 90s, New Forms brought drum ‘n’ bass into the mainstream. Fighting off industry heavyweights including the Spice Girls, The Prodigy, Suede, Radiohead, Primal Scream and The Chemical Brothers, Roni Size & Reprazentwon the 1997 Mercury Music Prize, going on to sell 300,000 units in the UK with its release on BBC Radio 1 DJ Gilles Peterson’s Talkin’ Loud records.

Reprazent were a Bristol-based collective brought together by Roni that included DJsDieSuv and Krust as well as Dynamite MC and vocalist Onallee. Akin to their fellow Bristolians Massive Attack, they grew up on a diverse diet of influences including street soul, hip hop, electro, reggae and dub. They weaved elements of each with the new electronic sounds of jungle and break-beats to create drum ‘n’ bass - of which New Forms is one of the defining masterpieces.

20 years since being propelled into the mainstream, drum ‘n’ bass continues to thrive with artists including Chase and Status, Sigma, and Wilkinson dominating the charts, all of whom acknowledge Roni Size & Reprazent as forefathers of the scene. Whilst Grime, a genre with a similarly unique cultural heritage, enjoys its moment – it feels like perfect timing to honourNew Forms as the seminal milestone in British music as it is.

This Autumn to further celebrate 20 years of New Forms, Roni Size will take his ground breaking audio-visual live show to Hospitality in the Park, London on Saturday 23rd September before widely touring throughout the world (full schedule TBA)Having debuted earlier this year at the Oval Space and since showcased at Moovin Festival andThe Downs, the combined live instrument and hardware show features state of the art production and 3D effect projection mapping in the form of the “light box;” and marks the first time Roni has performed the Mercury Prize winning album New Forms as a solo performer.New Forms will be reissued November 10th, 2017.

For me personally I imagined me and my mate Hannah as Christian Slater and Winona Rider in Heathers albeit looking nothing like them. The video has nothing to do with the song - I just didn't want to have a mullet anymore, seeing as lots of people tore me to pieces in our last video, so it was an excuse to wear a wig!"

THE DAMNED ANNOUNCE TONY VISCONTI TO PRODUCE NEW ALBUM & REJOINS WITH BASSIST PAUL GRAY

BRITISH PUNK ROYALTY THE DAMNED REVEALUPCOMING ALBUM DETAILS AND MORE TONY VISCONTI SET TO PRODUCE NEW DAMNED ALBUM SET FOR RELEASE 2018  FORMER BASSIST PAUL GRAY REJOINS BAND    Photos: Dod Morrison As reported in early spring, legendary punk band The Damned signed a new label deal with Search & Destroy and announced plans for their 11th studio album. Now the band is pleased to announce that preparations are underway.
The band’s raw, primal and macabre energy will see its match in the studio this October in Brooklyn, NY with famed ProducerTony Visconti who for over five decades has produced some of the world’s most influential artists and their greatest albums (David Bowie, T.Rex, Morrisey, U2, The Stranglers, Iggy Pop and Thin Lizzy). On Engineer duties is four time Grammy-winning Producer /Engineer/Mixer Kevin Killen, who has also worked with Bowie and has spent the last several decades compiling an impressive list of credentials featuring premiere pop artists Peter Gabriel, Elvis
Costello, Burt Bacharach, Bryan Ferry and Brandon Flowers. The New York Observer proclaimed, "The Damned are a band of infinite depth and a wide variety of pleasures… high-quality blurs of melodic punk, Beach Boys-ish flowery psych-pop, chiming, bittersweet post-punk, Moody Blues-ish bombastmopherics, spiraling goth and soaring faux soul, all brilliantly executed...” It’s rather fitting that the band who in 1976 launched an alchemic, heady new British rock sound collaborates with one of the most important and influential producers in the history of rock.  “We want to do the unexpected,” noting that the new album will offer some of the old and a lot of the new. “We’ve never been predictable and well, neither has Tony. There will be a measure of experimentation and we know he’ll do his best to artistically challenge us. He’s been at the top of our producer list since we first started thinking about recording the album, dream come true he’s on board!” The as-yet-unnamed new album will be their first new album for nearly ten years and is the follow up to, ‘So, Who’s Paranoid?’ which came out in 2008. This news also comes with a change in The Damned’s line up: the band announce the bitter sweet news of the departure of bassist Stu West. “We had a great time with Stu on this long journey. We have infinite respect for him and are forever grateful for his contributions to The Damned. As a result of this mutual understanding, we respect his decision, support him wholeheartedly and wish him the best of luck and success." Furthermore, The Damned reveal that once again they will reunite with their former bass player Paul Gray (Eddie and the Hot Rods/Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls, Rob Tyner (MC5)/UFO), who was an essential part of the Damned during the 80s and who played bass on previous Damned albums “The Black Album” and “Strawberries”. Gray will be joining the Damned in the studio this fall.
A dizzying mix of dedication, creativity and stubborn will continue to fuel Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Monty Oxymoron, and Andrew "Pinch" Pinching.  While The Damned’s 40 year journey has been challenging, rewarding and shocking at best, they continue to reign as Punk’s original connoisseurs and feel very positive about what lies ahead in the future. That evidence will be heard on their new album and in venues worldwide as the blitz continues on their Evil Spirits Tour set to rock intimate venues through out the UK this January. The Damned ‘Evil Spirits’ 2018 UK Tour Dates: 26 January Newcastle O2 Academy27 January Dundee Caird Hall28 January Glasgow O2 Academy30 January Leeds O2 Academy Leeds31 January Manchester Academy 11 February Birmingham O2 Academy3 February Leicester O2 Academy4 February Nottingham Rock City6 February Folkestone Leas Cliff Hall7 February Southend Cliffs Pavilion9 February Cardiff Great Hall10 February Bristol O2 Academy Bristol11 February Bournemouth O2 Academy13 February Southampton O2 Guildhall14 February Bexhill De La Warr Pavilion17 February London O2 Forum

Of the new music, LENNY asserts, “Mayfield seems primed to enjoy not only another strong album but to harness its moment in the service of others.”Already receiving widespread acclaim, Stereogum recently debuted the official music video for “Meadow” calling it, “…appealing in its blend of melancholy resignation and defiant self-will” (watch/share HERE.), while NPR Music premiered the video for the title track declaring, “Jessica Lea Mayfield is taking back her life. ‘Sorry Is Gone,’ the title track to her next album, is a song of empowerment that finds the singer moving past a difficult period in her life…Despite the weight of that, the song feels breezy, flowing and freeing” (watch/share HERE).The 11-track record was recorded at Water Music and Electric Lady studios with producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Phosphorescent). No one else.” She continues, “I have to sing about things and write about things that have happened to me as therapy. That’s what connects me to other music I listen to. I want music to make me feel things. This is my inner dialogue, and my chance to get the last word.”In support of the release, Mayfield will embark on an extensive tour this fall including shows at NYC’s Baby’s All Right, DC’s Songbyrd, Nashville’s The Basement East and Chicago’s The Empty Bottle among many others.
