Slowdive Shares Brand New Video for "Don't Know Why"

Slowdive Shares Brand New Video for "Don't Know Why"

Slowdive is pleased to share their new video for  Slowdive  cut, "Don't Know Why." (We're pretty excited about it, too.) Directed by Grant Singer (The WeekndLordeAriana Grande) and starring Autumn ShellyDuke Nicholson, and Daciana the Dog, the new, beautiful, and sensory video is presented in three parts.

"This video is less about logic and more about a feeling. It's a triptych about memory, about being lost and abandoned," says Singer. "Slowdive has been my favorite band since I was a kid. To say that making this video was surreal would be an understatement. Their music has been this gift-this friend that stays with me always and gets better over time. Hearing their new album left me speechless. So having the opportunity to make something for them is an honor that I don't take for granted."

Watch it here via Apple Music

Slowdive's self-titled album, released this past spring on Dead Oceans to universal acclaim, was the band's first new record in 22 years. It garnered a slew of praise from the likes of The New Yorker,VulturePitchforkThe Associated PressSPINNewsweekBillboardStereogumUproxx,ExclaimPaste, and more.

The band will tour North America extensively this fall in support of Slowdive, playing many of these cites for the first time since the album's release - so if you haven't gotten a chance to experience the wonder of Slowdive live before, it's your turn. A full list of dates is at the bottom of this newsletter.

Ought announce new LP Room Inside the World for February, share “These 3 Things” video and world tour dates

Still fresh from signing with Merge, Ought will release  Room Inside the World  on February 16. The album, their third LP and first for Merge, explores themes that have always concerned the band—identity, connection, survival in a precarious world—but with a bolder, more nuanced sound palette. The band share first single “These 3 Things” and an accompanying video today along with the album announcement, as well as a world tour itinerary for 2018.
Of the video, directors Jonny Look (Grizzly Bear, Cloud Nothings, Cass McCombs) and Scottie Cameron say:
Life can be problematic. Everything takes time and energy. We challenged ourselves to create devices of great convenience using three items. When initially testing the convenience machines without the human variable, we discovered luxury and success. However, it was sterile. The beauty only came with the unpredictable moments brought by the human element. Being human is better than looking for an easy way out.
Watch & share the video for “These 3 Things”
Recorded at Rare Book Room in Brooklyn with producer Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter, Animal Collective, Silver Jews), Room Inside the World was approached with newfound patience. Together, Ought constructed a (digital) moodboard to set their intentions: Brian Eno and Stereolab synths, the Mekons’ 1985 album Fear and Whiskey, and Gerhard Richter and Kenneth Anger’s sexy, fluorescent hyperreal all made it into the melting pot. Holed up in their rehearsal building, an industrial rock block (and sock factory) overlooking the Trans-Canada Highway, the band strove for greater detail and specificity than before while remaining true to the collaborative, intuitive writing process that yielded their earlier work. Vibraphone, justly intonated synthesizers, drum machines, and a 70-piece choir suffuse the precise post-punk breakdowns that spangled Ought’s first two albums, giving rise to an emotional complexity that pushes their characteristically taut sound to greater depths.
Ought begin an East Coast tour opening for labelmates Waxahatchee this Friday. Find those dates, as well as their newly announced 2018 headlining world tour, below. Pre-order Room Inside the World on CD or white Peak Vinyl in the Merge store (where you will also find a specially priced bundle of the album with an exclusive Ought t-shirt), fromthese digital music providers, or from one of these independent record stores. All pre-orders will receive an Ought sticker, while supplies last!

The band has once again partnered with creative company Wieden+Kennedy on the video for their next smash single, “Live in the Moment.” Directed by Aaron Brown, the video for “Live in the Moment” is the third collaboration between the self-proclaimed “Lords of Portland” and the advertising juggernaut, following the videos for “Rich Friends” and the politically charged yet epic, video for their global smash hit “Feel It Still.” Watch the video for “Live in the Moment” here!
Wieden+Kennedy creative director Erik Fahrenkopf had this to say about making the video: “The guys from Portugal. The Man asked us to create a music video for their single ‘Live in the Moment.’ We said, ‘Yes!’ Then we said, ‘Hold on, when’s it due?’ And they were like, ‘I don’t know; you should talk to our manager, Rich.’ And Rich said, ‘Real soon.’ We said, ‘What if we worked with Lance Woolen* to build a 10-foot puppet and had him ride around on a Cadillac like it was a skateboard, and then he gets chased by a 10-foot cop on top of a giant Segway?’ Rich said, ‘I don’t know, lemme ask the band.’ They said, ‘That sounds pretty stupid. Can we shoot it next Thursday?’ We said, ‘How about Wednesday?’ And they said, ‘Wednesday’s actually better.’ And we said, ‘Let’s shoot in Portland, with a local crew. Even the stuntman.’ And they said, ‘Stuntman?’ And we said, ‘Yeah, we’re gonna kickflip a Cadillac.’ And they said, ‘If we don’t total the Cadillac, can we have it?’ And we said, ‘Of course.’”
We totaled the Cadillac. And the backup Cadillac.
So, what do you do after you have performed over 1,400 shows in your career to date? Announce ANOTHER world tour! The band has announced dates for the North American leg of their hugely successful world tour, set to get underway Thursday, February 1, at McDonald Theatre in Eugene, Oregon, and then they’ll travel through the month (see attached itinerary). Fan pre-sales are available now, while Spotify pre-sales begin today at 4 p.m. EST/1 p.m. PST. LA FEMME Shares New Video "Exorciseur" Just in Time for Halloween!

WATCH LA FEMME - "EXORCISEUR" OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEOLA FEMME SHARES MUSIC VIDEO FOR "EXORCISEUR"
Watch NOW via BrooklynVegan
VIDEO DIRECTED BY LA FEMMEToday, October 31st, 2017, French surf-noir band -- LA FEMME -- releases the zany new music video for "EXORCISEUR", (translates to "Exorcist"), from their 2016 full-length,  Mystere .  Fresh off of their most recent  Fall Tour , the band gives us a glimpse inside their days on the road.  Complete with costumes, razor blades, and trippy filters, the video is the perfect match for the funky bassline and haunting synths.  Definitely a perfect addition to your Haloween Playlist.

The video subtly addresses the song's darker messages: "I must drive out the devil,
That is in me.
Where is the razor … ?"
Direct from the Parisian overground, French pop connoisseurs La Femme released their new album Mystère  worldwide last September. Hailing from Le Pré Saint Gervais and Ivry-sur-Seine’s winding streets, La Femme has made a huge mark on modern Paris's cultural landscape, with the two sides of the city – the glamour and the grit – engrained in their music. Mystère reached the second place in the French digital charts, 8th place in the overall French charts, and was nominated for Best Rock Album at the French Music Awards 2017. Ever since the release of their debut album Psycho Tropical Berlin, that topped the French digital charts and saw the band appear on national television as the Best New Band of the year at the French Music Awards, their rise has only gained momentum with fans.

Returning to a more psychedelic sound and a range of guest vocalists that slice through the starkest of electro beats, Mystère sees La Femme celebrating all that’s wonderful about their city. From the chattering tête-à-tête heard on "Conversations Nocturnes" that leads into the throbbing disco beat of"SSD" – a direct reference to the pulsing nightlife hotspot and multi-cultural district Strasbourg Saint-Denis where the band continues to work and play equally hard.

After supporting Red Hot Chilli Peppers for 12 shows of their Arena Europan tour in October 2016, La Femme continued to spread their French words with energy, style, and passion throughout their Fall North American Tour.

“Slow down, take it easy, put Mystère on the record player and allow yourself to be taken far away...”they say. Liberté, égalité, fraternité. Everyone can be a part of La Femme’s world – and it has never felt more alive.
