The Los Angeles pop up shop will be held at 8250 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90048.The shops will have 100 album test pressings autographed by Morrissey available for purchase at each location on a first come, first served basis each day. These will also be the one of the only physical stores stocking all of the Language Edition colored LPs and the 7" limited edition boxset. There will also be photo opportunities with special artwork backdrops.'Low in High School' will be released digitally and in physical formats: CD, colored vinyl and limited edition cassette.'Low in High School' is Morrissey's first studio album since 2014 and his debut for BMG. The album sees BMG partnering with Morrissey on the new release and on the launch of his new label, Etienne Records. 'Low in High School' was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in France and in Rome at Ennio Morricone's Forum Studios. "I've been a fan of Dr. Demento nearly my entire life," said album producer and participant, John Cafiero. "The Doc's show has introduced audiences to counter culture and an eclectic talent pool of humor-infused music for nearly five decades; creating a musical movement that echoes the spirit of punk with its own unique voice. There are no airs, and everyone's welcome. If you didn't fit in- you fit in." Dr. Demento Covered In Punk features over thirty different, never before released, all-new 'punk' cover versions of 'mad music and crazy comedy' songs famously heard on the airwaves of the legendary "Dr Demento Show"- intermixed with 'wild card' tracks showcasing some incredible, newly 'demented' versions of punk-rock classics! Joined by everyone from the Misfits, Joan Jett, Fred Schneider of the B52s, to "Weird Al" Yankovic, the late Adam "Batman" West (in one of his final performances), and Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner-(to name just a few). The first pressing of the LP reissues of these albums will be on colored vinyl (Automatic Midnight on orange, Suicide Invoice on yellow, and Audit in Progress on pink) and each album will come with its own, new set of 6 stickers designed by the band’s Rick Froberg. And January 19th will be the first time any of these albums have been available on cassette.
These influential post-hardcore all-stars – boasting members of Pitchfork, Rocket From the Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Earthless, Obits, Burning Brides, OFF!, The Delta 72, and more –released three of our favorite rock records of the past 20 years: Automatic Midnight in 2000, Suicide Invoice in 2002 and Audit in Progress in 2004. And now, finally, they’re ours! As we await the somewhat-later-in-2018 release of their first new album since 2004, please make these Sub Pop reissues yours…
Automatic Midnight, Hot Snakes’ first studio album, originally came out in 2000. Both the band and the album began as a side project for John Reis in June 1999, during time off from his main band Rocket From the Crypt. Reis wrote and recorded a batch of songs in San Diego with Delta 72 drummer Jason Kourkounis. To provide vocals for the tracks Reis called in Rick Froberg, whom he had played with in Pitchfork and Drive Like Jehu from 1986 to 1995. Most of the material from these sessions was used to create Automatic Midnight, which became the first release for Reis' newly formed Swami Records label. The band’s sound represented a return to the unrealized past of its members: direct, undraped and rock ‘n’ roll while still maintaining the dense and turbulent character of the members’ previous work. In April or May of 2000, Hot Snakes added bassist Gar Wood, found their live sound and established themselves as primo, down-stroke warlords.
Suicide Invoice, their second album, was originally released in 2002. It was recorded at San Diego’s Drag Racist Studios in 2002 with engineer Ben Moore. The album exhibits Hot Snakes’ slightly larger palate in mood and dissonance. People enjoyed the shows and listening to the recorded music. But, strain from controversy and fame would reveal cracks in the seemingly impenetrable hide of Hot Snakes. A year after the album’s release, drummer Jason Kourkounis left to focus on other music.
Audit in Progress is their third studio album, originally released in 2004. The band recorded the album with new drummer Mario Rubalcaba at San Diego’s Big Fish Recording with engineer Ben Moore. An increased attraction to dissonance surfaced on Audit in Progress. The album was well-received by critics and fans and was named "best punk album" at the 2005 San Diego Music Awards. More shows were played and enjoyed and the band visited many cities all over the world. By 2005, the band spiraled into a mid-life punk crisis and stopped performing.
Lucky for all of us here in the present, Hot Snakes are charging back, renewed, recording new music and playing shows with both drummers, and planning for the release of a new album in 2018 on Sub Pop Records.

Hot Snakes have added new UK headlining dates to their 2017/18 international tour schedule. These UK dates begin January 25th, 2018 in Manchester at Gorilla and end February 3rd, 2018 in Bristol at Thekla. The tour includes stops in London, Leeds, Glasgow, Brighton, Nottingham, Newcastle, and Cambridge. Tickets on sale to general public today at 3pm GMT.

Hot Snakes have added new UK headlining dates to their 2017/18 international tour schedule. These UK dates begin January 25th, 2018 in Manchester at Gorilla and end February 3rd, 2018 in Bristol at Thekla. The tour includes stops in London, Leeds, Glasgow, Brighton, Nottingham, Newcastle, and Cambridge. Tickets on sale to general public today at 3pm GMT.

In the spirit of artistic collaboration, Rhye approached DanceOn to create a compelling visual story to accompany the track. The stunning result was choreographed by and features Noelle Marsh, as well as Madelyn Spang and Mason Cutler. Watch it HERE.

The album captures a singer at his prime, surrounded by all-time-great session musicians with skill to match his singular voice, including drummer Gene Chrisman (Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin), keys player Bobby Woods (JJ Cale, Bobby Womack), horns players from Preservation Hall, and legendary guitarist Duane Eddy. Goin’ Platinum! was co-written and produced by The Black Key’s Dan Auerbach and also features writing credits by legendary songwriters John Prine, Nick Lowe, and Pat McLaughlin. “These guys are legends in their own time,” Finley says. “I’m grateful to be part of the team and working with such extraordinary guys. Hailing from the small town of Bernice, Louisiana, Robert Finley, a self-taught musician, is no stranger to collaborating with and leading an elite group of musicians. Finley joined the army as a teenager to become a helicopter technician, but quickly found work as the leader of the Army’s band and toured the continent many times with them on guitar and vocals. Following his military service, Finley settled back in the States and made a living as a carpenter, still playing music, but more as a hobby than professionally. It wasn’t until Finley lost most of his eyesight and was forced to retire from carpentry that two happenstances rejuvenated his career.
First, while playing to a street crowd in Arkansas, Finley met a member of the Music Maker Relief Foundation, an organization that provides direct support to older and underprivileged musicians. This lead to his first LP,Age Don’t Mean a Thing, which was released on Big Legal Mess Records in the fall of 2016. A video of Finley performing songs on the street also made its way to Dan Auerbach, front man of The Black Keys and new Nashville-based record label owner. Auerbach immediately recognized the singer’s immense and innate talent, and writing and recording sessions with the Easy Eye Sound house band, which Relix Magazine named “Nashville’s New Wrecking Crew,” spawned the songs on Goin’ Platinum!
From the lovelorn bombast of “If You Forget My Love” and the soul-stirring “Medicine Woman,” to the home-on-the-road ripper “Empty Arms” and the yearning “Honey, Let Me Stay the Night,” all capped by Finley’s ethereal falsetto on album closer “Holy Wine,” Finley’s sublime and stirring vocals, anchor Goin’ Platinum! and elevate the album’s ten original songs, making them feel equally contemporary and timeless. “I realized very quickly Robert’s capable of doing so much more than old blues songs,” Auerbach says. “He’s a blues guitar player, but when he puts his guitar down, you could set him in front of an orchestra and he would sing just as good as Ray Charles on the first take. He has that magnetic hugeness about his voice and just knows where to put it in the pocket, always.”
Goin' Platinum! is the second release on Dan Auerbach’s new record label, Easy Eye Sound and is distributed by Auerbach's longtime label Nonesuch Records. Written, orchestrated and performed by Elvis Costello, this sublime tune can be heard in the upcoming ‘Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool’ based on Peter Turner’s memoir about his relationship with eccentric Academy Award winning actress Gloria Grahame. The film stars Jamie Bell and Annette Bening and is generating much pre-release acclaim.
It’s no coincidence that Elvis Costello was keen to write a song for the project as he was already intrigued by Gloria Grahame’s life story. Producers Barbara Broccoli, Colin Vaines and director Paul McGuigan caught an Elvis Costello show at the London Palladium and were all delighted and surprised to see Grahame’s picture appear on the TV screen visuals during the song ‘Church Underground’.
“It must have been quite startling for Barbara, Colin and Paul,” Elvis laughs.
"‘You Shouldn’t Look At Me That Way’ is a song dealing with two people who have a lot of secrets. They were in a relationship and perhaps had difficulty seeing each other as they really were. All lovers have secrets. One lover has some vanity but also a lot of vulnerability. The title really came from that. It could refer to a seductive gaze but also a plea not to be judged.”
Directed by Paul Mcguigan and based on Peter Turner’s memoir, the film follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner (Bell) and the eccentric Academy Award®-winning actress Gloria Grahame (Bening) in 1978 Liverpool. What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover quickly grows into a deeper relationship, with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort.
