GRETA VAN FLEET RELEASE DOUBLE EP FROM THE FIRES TODAY

CONTINUE SOLD OUT NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

NEW YORK, NY (November 10th, 2017) – Credited as the breakout rock band of 2017, today Greta Van Fleet - Josh Kiszka (vocals), Jake Kiszka (guitars), Sam Kiszka (bass & keys), Danny Wagner (drums) - celebrates the release of their double EP From The Fires (Lava/Republic Records), available digitally and as a physical disc.

GRETA VAN FLEET WINS BEST NEW ARTIST AT THE LOUDWIRE MUSIC AWARDS HERE
The eight-track double EP, From The Fires combines four new tracks recorded in September at Rust Belt Studios in Detroit – two new original songs, “Talk on the Street” and “Edge of Darkness,” as well as two covers, Sam Cooke’s emotional “A Change Is Gonna Come” and “Meet On The Ledge" by the late 60’s folk rock band Fairport Convention – with the four songs from the band’s debut EP, Black Smoke Rising, released earlier this year. From The Fires was produced by the same duo that helmed Black Smoke Rising , Al Sutton and Marlon Young. As Greta Van Fleet vocalist Josh Kiszka said, “These eight songs belong together as they share a theme of basic humanity.”
FROM THE FIRES TRACK LISTING:
01. Safari Song
02. Edge of Darkness
03. Flower Power
04. A Change Is Gonna Come
05. Highway Tune
06. Meet On The Ledge
07. Talk On the Street
08. Black Smoke Rising

The four new recordings shine a light on some of the band members’ earliest musical influences, the blues, soul and funk of artists like Muddy Waters, Joe Cocker, Sam & Dave, Howlin’ Wolf and Wilson Pickett. As Screamer magazine said in its From The Fires review, “These new tunes show how much Greta Van Fleet is really capable of and how deep the talent runs."
According to Josh, "Edge of Darkness” is about "the bravery behind the compassion that we feel for each other. One of the lyrics is ‘I’ve got love in my heart,’ and I think, as a global community, it’s a spiritual thing to share all that we have together. Giving love is giving power."
Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” is one that has special meaning for the band. When Josh and twin brother/guitarist Jake first heard it, they thought it was a song they’d like to cover, but never did. Fast forward a few years and ironically, co-producer Marlon Young suggested they cover it for this release. “All of us are very affected by oppression of any type,” said Josh, “cultural, racial, sexual. I’ve never experienced what Sam Cooke did so I have to admit, it was a little difficult for me, getting behind the mic, but I did it because singing this song meant a lot to me.” As Icon vs Icon wrote about this track, “This is where the group truly shows they are like no other. This isn’t simply a rock song, or even blues, it’s a gospel ballad that will move even the toughest soul.”
Josh has always connected with folk songs, with their beautiful melodies and harmonies and is a big fan of late ‘60s folk-rock groups like Spyro Gyra, Pentangle and Fairport Convention. “Meet On The Ledge” was composed by Fairport Convention’s Richard Thompson. "I was on a train going to New York,” he recalls, "and on the way, I listened to an entire decade of Fairport Convention’s music. ‘Meet On The Ledge’ was the fourth or fifth track I heard and it caught me by surprise. I was absolutely entranced; the verse and chorus blew my mind.”
About "Talk On The Street”, Josh describes it as "a fun song, full of catchy riffs and dynamic drums, kind of an ambiguous wild ride, a real rock’n’roll song.”
Greta Van Fleet will do some writing and recording this month, take some well-deserved time off for Thanksgiving, and then hit the last weeks of its first-ever U.S. tour - with all headline dates sold out in advance - on November 30 at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. Dates are below.

Hot-on-the-heels of elbow’s appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, where they performed current single “Magnificent (she says)” [watch HERE] and fan favorite “One Day Like This” [watch HERE], the band has announced today they will be releasing “The Best Of” album later this month.
On November 24th, elbow will be releasing a handpicked collection of their best moments to date. The album, which covers two CDs worth in its deluxe form, features tracks from all the band’s seven studio albums to date and highlights their incredible musical output over the last eighteen years from the release of the “Newborn” EP in 1999. Also featured on the album as a bonus track is the band’s version of The Beatles “Golden Slumbers,” as heard on the current John Lewis holiday commercial directed by Michel Gondry [watch HERE].
Front-man and lyricist Guy Garvey explains of the forthcoming release: “Best Of’s are a good way of introducing new fans to a big back catalogue. My first Leonard Cohen album was ‘The Best Of’, same with Fleetwood Mac and Nick Drake. It took ages for us to decide what should go on ours but we got there in the end. We are really proud of this. It’s full of memories.”
“The Best Of” comes in two versions. The standard version features global hits “One Day Like This” and “Grounds For Divorce,” alongside their current US single “Magnificent (She Says),” taken from the band’s current studio album and UK Number One, “Little Fictions.” Earlier work is represented by live favorites “Mirrorball,” “Scattered Black and Whites,” “Leaders Of The Free World” and “Lippy Kids,”“a gorgeous meditation on adolescence” (The Guardian) and a stand out moment in all elbow live shows.
The second version is the deluxe release, which goes further into the band’s history and album releases, again spanning their entire career to date. The song that first brought the band to mass public attention, “Newborn,” is included along with its follow up and fellow NME Single Of The Week, “Any Day Now” and “The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver’” the song the band performed live on the night that they won the 2008 Mercury Music Prize for “The Seldom Seen Kid.” This version also contains the band’s most recent original recording, “Kindling (Fickle Flame)” featuring John Grant.
The album highlights an incredible ongoing career which has encompassed the Ivor Novello winning “One Day Like This” and “Grounds for Divorce,” the quadruple platinum album “The Seldom Seen Kid” and two UK Number One albums; 2014’s “The Take Off and Landing of Everything” and this year’s“Little Fictions.” In that time, the band have won 2008’s Mercury Music Prize (for “The Seldom Seen Kid”), the 2009 BRITS ‘Best British Group’ and a host of NME, Q and Mojo Awards.
elbow have been lauded for one of the landmark Pyramid Stage performances at Glastonbury Festival, collaborated with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Manchester’s Hallé Orchestra. In 2012 they were commissioned to write ‘First Steps’ which sound-tracked the BBC'S London Olympics TV coverage with the band also performing at the closing ceremony in the Olympic Stadium to a global television audience of 750 million people. This year’s secret appearance at Glastonbury’s Park Stage drew a record crowd on site and was the most watched set from the festival on BBC.
Always a band that has attracted deserved critical praise for their recordings, (elbow were the first act in history to receive four consecutive 9/10 album reviews from NME), this best of album is the perfect introduction to the amazing musical legacy to date of one of the country’s most beloved and most successful acts, demonstrating that most rare thing in modern music; a band whose story and influence continues to grow with every release.
“The Best Of” is available in the U.S as a standard and deluxe digital download from 24th November.
Advance purchasers of the digital download will receive “Golden Slumbers” on receipt of order.

Corey Helford Gallery Presents New Solo from Celebrated Pop Art Visionary Ron English
COREY HELFORD GALLERYpresentsRon English"TOYBOX: America in the Visuals"
Opening Reception Saturday, December 2 from 7-11pm(On View December 2 Through December 30, 2017)

On Saturday, December 2, Downtown Los Angeles' Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) will proudly premiere "TOYBOX: America in the Visuals," an outrageous sensory blast for the eyes and ears, all built around the newest body of paintings from celebrated pop art visionary Ron English.
English returns to CHG with "TOYBOX," a new body of work deploying the artist's long established visual vocabulary into multi-layered narratives of ambition and imagination. "TOYBOX" deconstructs the search for new meaning in a culture that is based as much on the imagination of its participants as on the physical realities these human concepts are played against. The toy based childhood imagination aesthetic of the work allows for a playful new look at a society in the throes of reinventing itself.
"Close Encounter Intuition" (oil on canvas, 50" x 64")
The exhibition, featuring 36 new oil paintings, as well as sculpturesand installations, examines the creation of the self, and thus the greater society, as an act of imagination, a skill developed in childhood largely through the activity of play and the use of toys. Toys introduce a codified visual narrative of the individual and the archetypes that construct the collective narrative that is the underpinning of society.
"The Ascension of deadmau5" (oil on canvas, 48" x 50")
One of the most prolific and recognizable artists alive, Ron English is considered the Godfather of Street Art and Seminal Pioneer of Pop Surrealism. For this exhibition, English has also co-produced a musical soundtrack to be performed by new character DJ Popaganda. The exhibition will also include a new outdoor mural and a pop-up store selling Ron's limited-edition toys. The opening reception for "TOYBOX" will be hosted Saturday, December 2from 7-11pm in Gallery 1 at Corey Helford Gallery. The reception is open to the public and on view through December 30. About Ron English:One of the most prolific and recognizable artists alive today, Ron English has bombed the global landscape with unforgettable images, on the street, in museums, in movies, books and television. English coined the term POPaganda to describe his signature mash-up of high and low cultural touchstones, from superhero mythology to totems of art history, populated with his vast and constantly growing arsenal of original characters, including MC Supersized, the obese fast-food mascot featured in the hit movie "Supersize Me," and Abraham Obama, the fusion of America's 16th and 44th Presidents, an image widely discussed in the media as directly impacting the 2008 election. Other characters carousing through English's art, in paintings, billboards, and sculpture include three-eyed rabbits, udderly delicious cowgirls and grinning skulls, blending stunning visuals with the bitingly humorous undertones of America's Premier Pop Iconoclast. About Corey Helford Gallery:Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) was first established in 2006 by Jan Corey Helford and her husband, television producer and creator, Bruce Helford (Anger Management, The Drew Carey Show, George Lopez, The Oblongs) and has since evolved into one of the premier galleries of New Contemporary art. Its goals as an institution are the support and growth of young and emerging, to well-known and internationally established artists, the production and promotion of their artwork, and the general production of their exhibits, events and projects. CHG represents a diverse collection of international artists, primarily influenced by today's pop culture and collectively encompassing style genres such as New Figurative Art, Pop Surrealism, Neo Pop, Graffiti and Street Art, and Post-Graffiti. After nine years in Culver City, CHG relocated in December 2015 to a robust 12,000 sq. ft. building in Downtown Los Angeles, seven times larger than its original space, where it continues to host exhibitions within the heart of the city's art community. The current space boasts three separate galleries, each of which house individual artist and group exhibitions, whereas the main gallery offers 4,500 sq. ft., providing total immersion for its attendees. New exhibitions are presented approximately every four weeks. For more info and an upcoming exhibition schedule, visit CoreyHelfordGallery.com and connect on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

WIDOWSPEAK COVER NEIL YOUNG’S "HARVEST MOON"
EUROPEAN TOUR STARTS NOVEMBER 13
Acclaimed New Album Expect The Best Out Now via Captured Tracks
Today New York four piece Widowspeak share their cover of Neil Young’s "Harvest Moon." On it the band re-interpret the classic track with Molly Hamilton’s wistful vocals and Robert Earl Thomas' lashings of delicate guitar - while at the same time, preserving the folk essence.

Widowspeak have received much praise for their most recent album Expect the Best which was released via Captured Tracks in August. It’s their heaviest record to date, but never loses the sense of quiet intimacy that they are known for. After a tour of the US where they played to packed houses coast to coast, Widowspeak will be embarking on the European / UK leg of the tour with dates kicking off on November 13. Tour dates below.
Expect the Best is the follow up to 2015's All Yours. While previous albums were conceived as a duo with lead guitarist Robert Earl Thomas, the new LP finds Widowspeak playing to the specific strengths of the current touring incarnation (James Jano on drums, Willy Muse on bass). The album, recorded by Kevin MacMahon (Swans, Real Estate), exhibits a marked increase in energy that reflects the band's live show and the organic way it was created: by four people in a room together. The band collectively navigate dynamic changes with subtlety and restraint; the nine tracks here reach highs of wide-eyed lushness and plumb the depths of resigned melancholy. Their usual palette of dusty guitars and angular twang are still here front and center, but now with a bit more 90s homage, even if abstractly.
---
"Widowspeak fuses lightness and darkness like few others ... On each successive album, bandleader Molly Hamilton adds a few more layers to an atmospheric, slow-burning sound that conjures deep melancholy, even as it indulges in the lilting majesty of shoegazing rock." - NPR
"mesmerizingly introspective, nakedly nostalgic" - AV Club
"familiar vintage textures and dreamy vocals only partially disguise a sense that all may not be well. The alt-rock influence slips in as a brooding chill, a spookiness that never found such voice on past Widowspeak albums." - Spin
"The guitars, in all their distorted glory, are the standout here, while distant oohs build an extra level of intrigue to an ominous and downright sleek song." - Stereogum
"pretty much as cool as it gets, just without all of the pretentiousness that's expected of any indie rock band." - Baeble

PRESS ON NIIA:
“A single of such a hot and heavy nature should have a video to match and leave the viewer totally desperate for the touch of another. And lucky for you, dear reader, NIIA accomplishes all of this and more in her sexy new visual” – NYLON “Niia sings like a slow pour. (…) She’s a singer who manages to call attention to herself while thriving in the shadows.” – NEW YORK TIMES
“The Los Angeles-based singer and pianist invokes quiet-storm seduction...with the delicacy of Nigerian soul singer Sade, courtesy of deep production from the Grammy-nominated Robin Hannibal (Rhye, Lamar, Quadron and more). The sonics are blunted, as though each note were wrapped in cashmere and bathed in candlelight." – LOS ANGELES TIMES “a fluid listen that imparts lovelorn angst and sweet romanticism in equal measure.” – PITCHFORK “Equipped with a smooth whisper-like voice, a tight ponytail and hoop earrings, she's quick to draw comparisons to Sade; but with the release of her debut album, Niia is making a name for herself.” – HARPER’S BAZAAR “Niia delivers through crisp, ethereal production that brings her strongest instrument—her voice—into focus” – NYLON “Heartbreak dipped in gold, covered in diamonds and wrapped with a satin bow” – HIGH SNOBIETY “Her brand of feminism is 100% the real raw kind” – MILK

Listen to the New Cones Song "Later": Out Now on Dangerbird Records
CONES RELEASE NEW SINGLE "LATER"
OUT ON DANGERBIRD RECORDS
LISTEN / SHARE: "LATER"
Cones released their newest single "Later" today, a song that the LA duo says "captures that moment in a breakup when you finally start to find peace, but some of that bitterness is still hanging around." Tiny Mix Tapes, who premiered the track, call it "a wonderfully intricate and immaculately produced composition that somehow feels light as a feather."
"Later" will be available on all streaming services tomorrow via Dangerbird Records' Microdose series. Cones is also pleased to announce two LA shows, including a release party at Dangerbird's Silverlake offices.
11/17: Dangerbird HQ - Los Angeles, CA (free with RSVP)12/07: Moroccan Lounge w/ Midnight Sister, Duk - Los Angeles, CA
Over the course of 2017, Cones' debut singles "Echoes On," "Back in the Brain," and "Whatever You're Into" (the first two featuring hand-animated videos by frontman Jonathan Rosen) have won acclaim from the likes of The Fader, Stereogum, and KCRW, cracked the top five on the Hype Machine chart, and received nearly 100K streams on Spotify.
MORE ON CONES:
Jonathan and Michael Rosen are brothers, and also Cones. Growing up in San Francisco, they were as close as could be - spending their free time eating cereal.
Jonathan was infatuated with pop music from day one. He cried when he realized Elvis was dead. He would build cardboard drum sets in his room and play along to the Bee Gees. In contrast, Michael had a technical and academic approach to music. Trained in piano and composition, he studied in the classical tradition, writing his first opera at the age of 16.
The two brothers are based in Los Angeles. Jonathan is an acclaimed hand-drawn animator. He has created music videos for such artists as Toro y Moi, Eleanor Friedberger, and Delicate Steve. His rock and roll dream was born on the set of HBO's Vinyl, when he played the role of Johnny Thunders. Michael is a commercial/film composer and experimental sound artist. His fiercely technical brain works in collaboration with his heightened ear to create beautiful and strange sonic environments.
Prior to starting Cones, the brothers played in the backing band for Eleanor Friedberger (of the Fiery Furnaces), helping to write and tour on her latest record New View. While on tour, Jonathan and Michael conceptualized a new project. One that would fuse Jonathan's pop sensibilities with Michael's lush soundscapes and key-heavy orchestration. One that would rely on an entire lifetime of brotherhood - sounds that Jonathan could draw and images that Michael could hear.
The band's next release comes via Dangerbird's MICRODOSE, a monthly music and event series. The first single, "Later," will be released on November 10th, with a corresponding performance and party at Dangerbird HQ in Silver Lake on November 17th.

Alex Rose shares new single via Austin Town Hall, playing album release shows in LA & NY
Alex Rose shares new single via Austin Town Hall, playing album release shows in LA & NY
Her debut album, Arcadian Pages, is out tomorrow STREAM: "A Gun Called Patience" -
bandcamp / Austin Town Hall
There are many moments, memories, people, and places stretched across Alex Rose’s Arcadian Pages. The debut album from the Los Angeles-born, Austin-raised musician is a project four years in the making, an intimate and evocative collection of mental snapshots, born in homes, houses, cars, and hotels spanning from Washington to New York to Texas and California.
Recorded at Dandy Sounds Studio in Dripping Springs, Texas, Arcadian Pages feels like everywhere and nowhere all at once. The music is spacious and restrained, conjuring images of nameless strangers and long stretches of highway viewed from behind a dirty windshield. Gauzy electric guitars provide the backdrop, while sparse percussion and romantic swells of viola help propel each story along. Rose sings these songs like closely held secrets, lacing them with breath, texture, and a graceful fluency. In them, she reveals evocative details about fleeting moments and quiet echoes of characters only half-known. Like “Ty,” an enigmatic cowboy who’s both an object of affection and a figment of the imagination. Or “Howling Wolves,” where stories of youthful abandon move across moonlit streets and empty truck beds. On “Ponderosa Pines,” she sets a rally cry against indifference beneath the luminous North Dakota skyline. And together, these tales beautifully capture and crystallize not-so-distant memories into something tangible.
Arcadian Pages is Rose’s world, and it’s filled with great expectations, crushing heartbreaks, and hopeful momentum. Supported by producer / singer / multi-instrumentalist Anni Rossi and sound engineer Dan Duszynski (Molly Burch, Jess Williamson, Julia Lucille), she’s created a full-sensory travelogue filled with small gestures that have big implications.
Following a year of music making in Austin, Texas--and her first ever solo tour--Rose recently returned to Los Angeles. This fall and winter, she'll play shows across L.A. in support of her debut. In a way, it's the perfect end to Arcadian Pages' story--a homecoming made all the more meaningful by the time it took to get there.
Arcadian Pages will be available digitally starting November 10 on bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, et al. Cassette tapes are available on her bandcamp.
