GORILLAZ “Andromeda” (featuring D.R.A.M.)

GORILLAZ“Andromeda” (featuring D.R.A.M.)New Version of GRAMMY-Nominated Track Out TodayFrom HUMANZ Super Deluxe Box SetIn the wake of Gorillaz’ GRAMMY nominations earlier this week–Best Dance Recording for “Andromeda” (featuring D.R.A.M.) and Best Alternative Music Album for the international chart-topping Humanz (Warner Bros.)— Gorillaz is releasing a single of the version of “Andromeda” featured on the Humanz Super Deluxe Box Set.The “Andromeda” single release and twin GRAMMY nods cap off a triumphant 2017 U.S. campaign for Gorillaz, arguably the most successful 12 months on these shores ever experienced by the world’s most successful virtual band—beginning in January, with the inauguration eve surprise release of “Hallelujuah Money” (featuring Benjamin Clementine). The launch of the mixed reality Gorillaz app then allowed fans to hear the album for the first time as part of the largest ever worldwide geo specific listening experience bringing people together across 500 locations from Tokyo to Santiago, while  ‘Saturnz Barz (Spirit House) – the six-minute Jamie Hewlett-directed epic animated film featuring four Humanz tracks made history as YouTube’s highest debuting 360 video.Humanz arrived April 28, bowing at #1 on the U.S. album chart and #2 on the Billboard 200, topping the iTunes charts in more than 60 countries around the world, and generating critical raves including:“A party record for the apocalypse”—BILLBOARD“The sum of its parts is what makes Humanz so brilliant, as the cartoon Gorillaz deliver yet another classic to the real world”—BUST“A wild party that we can’t wait to join”—ELLE“Humanz finds the band with a new sense of purpose…a timely and real reflection of an internal conflict that so many of us can relate to right now: sometimes you need to be engaged, and shout, and fight. But sometimes, you just need to keep on dancing.”—THE FADER“the most vibrant, consistently engaging Gorillaz album yet… a rallying cry for humanity that only a cartoon band could deliver.”—PASTE“Damon Albarn’s virtual band is back with its most ambitious album to date… it sounds like a party at the end of the world”—PEOPLE“Rings in the Apocalypse in Style… Damon Albarn’s cartoon pop band brings guests from across the pop spectrum to prove once again why they’re the most interesting rap-rock crossover act ever”—ROLLING STONE“Gorillaz resumes its terrifically inventive career with Humanz…the diversity and sheer number of vocalists give the album its freshness and swagger. Engaging performances abound… whatever problems there may be in the world, on Humanz (Damon Albarn’s) counsel is to continue to dance with joy. Gorillaz’s new music makes it possible to do so.”—WALL STREET JOURNALThe Humanz world tour began with the band’s own inaugural Demon Dayz festival June 10 in Margate UK and continued with Gorillaz’ first North American live shows in seven years – which sold out in record time and were met with rapturous response, as Gorillaz drew their biggest ever stateside crowds to the likes of Red Rocks, Golden Gate Park, Citi Field in New York,  the Forum in Los Angeles and more. The Humanztour soldiered on through Japan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and is currently making its way through the UK, with further dates in Latin America and Europe on the horizon.PHOTO: Perez / @creativexperez

FIRST AID KIT SHARES NEW SONG “FIREWORKS”

FIRST AID KIT SHARES NEW SONG  “FIREWORKS”

DUO’S FOURTH STUDIO ALBUM RUINS TO BE RELEASED JANUARY 19, AVAILABLE FOR  PRE-ORDER  NOW

2018 HEADLINE TOUR KICKS OFF JANUARY 24, TICKETS ON SALE  HERE Photo Credit: Lauren DukoffToday First Aid Kit released “Fireworks,” the latest track from their forthcoming album Ruins – listen here. First Aid Kit says: "We're so excited to finally share ‘Fireworks.’ It's a track that we put a lot of emotions into. We love the arrangement we created for it with our producer Tucker Martine, borrowing from classic 50's ballads and mixing it with Twin Peaks-guitars and synths. It's a song about the ideals you set for yourself in life and how they can break you down, leaving you all alone at the end. "

First Aid Kit will release Ruins, their fourth studio album, on January 19 via Columbia Records. Produced by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Laura Veirs), the album was recorded in Portland, OR where the duo collaborated with amazing musicians — REM’s Peter Buck, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche, and Midlake’s McKenzie Smith. Ruins is available for pre-order now and includes lead single “It’s A Shame” as well as“Postcard” and “Fireworks.” See full tracklisting below.

First Aid Kit will embark on a 2018 North American headline tour, kicking off January 24 at the Fox Theatre in Oakland and continuing through a final night at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, with Van William supporting. Tickets are on sale now, visithttp://www.firstaidkitband.com/ for more information. The band toured the U.S. this fall, having performed at both Austin City Limits and San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festivals, check out their performance of “It’s A Shame” at ACL HERE. First Aid Kit also played additional shows in Los Angeles and Austin before ending their US trip with a sold-out show at New York City’s Town Hall.

Ruins follows the 2014 release of Stay Gold, a lush and ambitious 10-song collection that beautifully captures the duo's vivid storytelling, landing First Aid Kit countless “Best of 2014” accolades. Earlier this spring, First Aid Kit also released a stand-alone single on International Women’s Day entitled "You Are The Problem Here."  It is an empowered, passionate, and angry song that confronts the rape culture epidemic, with a portion of proceeds donated to Women for Women International.

Walter Martin (of The Walkmen) Announces New Album, Performs New Songs on NPR's Tiny Desk

Walter Martin Announces New AlbumReminisce Bar & Grill
Watch His NPR Tiny Desk PerformanceFeaturing Two New Songs From The Album"Only Walter Martin would bring a barbershop quartet to the Tiny Desk. Best known as a singer andmulti-instrumentalist with the band The Walkmen, Martin has spent his solo career making unabashedlyjoyful, sweetly innocent and playful music perfectly suited for quirky four-part harmonies." - NPR Music Walter Martin (co-writer/multi-instrumentalist of The Walkmen) announced today the forthcoming release of his new album  Reminisce Bar & Grill . His fourth solo record since The Walkmen announced their hiatus in 2013, Reminisce Bar & Grill is set to release in early 2018 via Ile Flottante Music. Today, NPR Music released Walter'sTiny Desk performance which features two new songs from the upcoming album: "I Went Alone On A Solo Australian Tour" and "Me & McAlevey." Watch Walter Martin Live @ NPR's Tiny Desk HERE. Reminisce Bar & Grill is one that might throw fans of his two award winning kids' records (2014's We're All Young Together and 2017's My Kinda Music) for a loop. Listeners will still recognize the same affable narrator and quirky musical style as his previous solo work, but here the subject matter is shifted dramatically. With frankness and poignancy, Martin, now a 43-year-old married man with two young children, squarely tackles the subject of adulthood - specifically, his own. "I think this is my mid-life crisis album," said Walter. "These days my friends and I all seem to be thinking the same dark thoughts - 'What the hell am I doing? What the hell's going on? I'm lost. I'm running out of time and I'm doing everything wrong. And I'm probably dying.' This is definitely an insane period," he continues, "but most of the time I kind of love it." While Martin approaches these subject matters with candor and sincerity, he clearly also enjoys mining them for humor. "I wanted this album to be an entertaining discussion of marriage, fatherhood, work, fear, and weakness," he explained. "I'm definitely influenced by Woody Allen movies. No matter how serious or romantic or dark his story may be, there's always a strong undercurrent of comedy."  Follow Walter Martin:Website - Facebook - Twitter - Instagram

CINDY WILSON (OF THE B-52’S) FIRST-EVER SOLO ALBUM, CHANGE, OUT TODAY

CINDY WILSON’S FIRST-EVER SOLO ALBUM, CHANGE, OUT TODAYON TOUR NOW PERFORMING AT A BROOKLYN PLANNED PARENTHOOD BENEFIT
DECEMBER 6 WITH KAKI KING, AMY RIGBY AND OTHERS

Cindy Wilson of the legendary B-52s releases her first-ever solo album, CHANGE (Kill Rock Stars), today. Produced by Suny Lyons at The Space Station in Athens, CHANGE is as bold as anything in Wilson's groundbreaking four-decade canon, melding future pop, disco drama, American standards, electronica, and more into her own distinctive creative vision. New songs like "Mystic" and the transformative title track are intricate and inventive, lush and luminous with strings, synthesizers, harmonies, and Wilson's utterly distinct vocal magic. Further highlights include a pair of unexpected covers: New Colony Six's soft rock classic, "Things I'd Like to Say," and "Brother," written and originally performed by Athens' own beloved Oh-OK. With CHANGE, Cindy Wilson has once again remade pop in her own innovative, irresistible image.

PURCHASE CINDY WILSON'S CHANGE HERE

Known the world over as a vocalist, songwriter, and founding member of the one and only B-52s, CHANGE began for Wilson nearly a decade ago upon her part-time return to her hometown of Athens, GA. She first encountered local multi-instrumentalist Ryan Monahan and drummer Leumuel Hayes when their Beatles tribute band was hired to play her son's birthday party. Wilson, Monahan and Hayes began teaming up for gigs, performing classic garage and psychedelic covers, before ultimately hitting the studio to create new music all their own. Athens-based producer/ musician Lyons was soon enlisted to join the group, resulting in the SUNRISE and SUPERNATURAL EPs, acclaimed by Popmatters for possessing “an undeniable sense of adventure.”
Last week, Wilson shared the video for "Brother,” directed by the great film and video director Lance Bangs. It was shot mostly in Jeremy Ayers backyard in Athens, GA. Ayers is an Athens arts legend famous for writing the iconic song "52 Girls" from the B-52's first album. The video also feature Iron & Wine Sam Beam's old bicycle.
WATCH THE VIDEO FOR "BROTHER" HERE
Billboard premiered the song "No One Can Tell You, “ saying, "It's hard to believe this is the first solo album Wilson is putting out throughout the entirety of her career," notes Billboard, adding, "With CHANGE, Wilson was able to experiment with her own creativity and learn about music in an entirely different light. The result is something melodic, calm even, and at times fueled by disco- tinged rhythms."
LISTEN TO "NO ONE CAN TELL YOU"
"Mystic" received its premiere via Stereogum, who claimed it, "an excellent slice of icy, synth-streaked new wave.” "With lush synths and a funky motorik rhythm section, 'Mystic' is a celestial wave of chill," raved NPR Music. "Wilson's voice is still a tease, perfectly suited to the Gary Numan-indebted cool the band cultivates."
LISTEN TO "MYSTIC"
Wilson has been touring all summer and fall with additional dates to be announced soon. She and her band will be performing at the Planned Parenthood Benefit at Brooklyn’s Bell House on December 6. The remaining confirmed dates are below. For updates and more, please see killrockstars.com.

The Liminanas Announce New Album, Release Video

THE LIMIÑANAS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM TWISTING THE SHADOW PEOPLEOUT JANUARY 19 ON BECAUSE MUSIC
WATCH “SHADOW PEOPLE” VIDEOFEATURING FRENCH ACTRESSEMMANUELLE SEIGNER
“Sounds as if they have stepped out of Quentin Tarantino’s dreams…. a 60s-saturated stunner” - Uncut
“Garagey, soundtrack-infused psych, a swirl of pounding drums, spoken French, baroque melodies” -Mojo
"The Limiñanas stick to what they know — The Velvet Underground, Serge Gainsbourg, JAMC fuzz, ’60s soundtracks — but it always sounds effortless and cool”- Brooklyn Vegan
French psych duo The Limiñanas have announced new album Twisting the Shadow People, to be released January 19 on Because Music. They’ve just shared the video for “Shadow People,” a track taken from the recently released Istanbul Is Sleepy EP, which will also appear on their full length.
Directed by previous collaborator Aurelien Richter, the video features acclaimed French actressEmmanuelle Seigner, who also provides vocals on the track.
The video was shot in The Limiñanas' home studio in Cabestany in the South of France, and also features Foulke de Boixo, the dancing hero from previous video “Istanbul is Sleepy”, as well asRenaud Picard, who duets with Emmanuelle Seigner on the track. WATCH "SHADOW PEOPLE"
LISTEN TO "SHADOW PEOPLE"
Lionel from the band explains: "The shadow people are an American myth, they are described as furtive apparitions, comparable to ghosts observable from the corner of the eye. These "spirits" accompany throughout your all life, a sort of paranormal glue stuck to you..." Emmanuelle Seigneradded: "A friend introduced me to The Limiñanas, I was in love with their Music. Three days before our first meeting, Lionel Limiñana called me and offered me to sing on one song off their new album. He sent me 'Shadow People'. Then we recorded directly at their home, it was fast, easy and pretty natural".
One of France’s most beloved cultural treasures, The Limiñanas are Marie (drums/vocals) and Lionel (guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals). Hailing from Perpignan, the duo straddles the boundary between psych, shoegaze, and yé-yé. With hazy, reverb-laden hooks, combined at times with noisy distortion, and fronted by effortlessly cool vocals, reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot, the band is at once timeless and quintessentially French.
New album Twisting the Shadow People was recorded and produced at The Brian Jonestown Massacre's Anton Newcombe's studio in Berlin.

Piano Virtuoso, Singer And Songwriter Laila Biali Is Her Most Authentic Self On Self-Titled New Album, Out January 26th On Kobalt

Piano Virtuoso, Singer And Songwriter Laila Biali Is Her Most Authentic Self On Self-Titled New Album, Out January 26th On KobaltFull-Band Headlining Tour To Include Dates In New York City, LA And More
Laila Biali is no stranger to change - in fact, it's what drives her. The virtuosic jazz pianist, singer and songwriter splits her time between New York City and her native Toronto and is constantly juggling her musical career with her devoted family, but through it all, Laila's dedication to her craft has never wavered. Her self-titled, self-produced new album 'LAILA BIALI,' out January 26th (Kobalt), reflects on the challenges of being an artist and a mother, and the uprooted sense of place that comes with the territory of being a dual citizen, making for a diverse song cycle of both originals and covers that serves as a candid and authentic representation of who Laila is.The songs on 'LAILA BIALI' don't shy away from tough topics. Album opener "Got to Love" tackles the negative side effects of gentrification, and reflects on Laila's experience living in Brooklyn and watching her neighborhood change before her eyes. On "Refugee," Laila eloquently pays tribute to the children who have lost lives during the Syrian refugee crisis from the perspective of a mother in the privileged western world. "Satellite" is one of the most personal songs on the record, on which Laila admits the emotional hardships of being a mother, a wife and a musician on the road. The covers on 'LAILA BIALI' hold important meaning, too - Coldplay's "Yellow" is an oft-requested fan favorite and the first ever jazz cover of the song to be recorded and published. Listen to that song here.Laila is one of Canada's foremost Jazz pianists and vocalists, and has toured with the likes of Sting, Chris Botti, Suzanne Vega and Paula Cole - she and her husband, drummer and producer Ben Wittman, actually met while recording with Paula in New York City, and he contributed production and played on the new album as well. Other notable musicians on 'LAILA BIALI' include drummer Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy), bassist George Koller (Michael McDonald, Chaka Kahn), vocalists Carlos Ricketts (U2, Adele) and Lisa Fischer (Rolling Stones, Paul Simon), and more.In addition to being a musician, Laila is also the host of CBC Radio 2's national weekly Saturday Night Jazz radio show, the station's only jazz show and the number 1 streamed show on CBCmusic.ca.
