its been like 2 days since Dario's left and Jess has thought "wow i Miss Him a Lot" approximately 10 times already. we have been robbed

this is it: if it were not for the awesome Khalila x Dario dynamics, Jess and Dario would've had a beautiful enemies to lovers story and i would've been dating Khalila instead. so many perfectly valid ships will never sail. tragic

it's like. the moment this book describes romantic interaction, it suddenly forgets that it was pretty good before and instantly descends into cheap dramatic mess. Morgan lost all character traits except "terrified girl in love", and Jess loses his last brain cells when she's around. and even when they talk to one another, they don't have anything to say. 100% frustrating

case in previous questionable vibe point: girls! don't! even! really! see! him! as! a Guy (tm)! Khalila takes off her hijab in front of him "as if he were family", the power that that has, the intelligence that that has, the influence (also why is it referred to as head scarf... tho Jess is a dumbass and he might not know the word but uhhh)

everything's GREAT but listen. if your morals are so different and you value different things AND you barely even talk, you're not supposed to date. also Jess' interactions with Dario and Thomas are ten times more emotional AND FLIRTY than with Morgan. like. what's up with that huh

im just saying, if your character expresses more love or just simple emotion and compassion toward their best friend than their lover, it means your romantic arc is shit and you don't need it, simple as that
