First time in a while I haven't zoned out to an audiobook while commuting - really interesting guy. Disagree with him but I see his perspective and he doesn't paint himself to be a holier than thou type.

It is a good book, but nothing has wowed me so far. Follows a lot of familiar ground but it is written well enough for me to continue.

Listening to this on audiobook with Lawrence Fishburn as the narrator which so far, has been the best narrator I've listened to yet. Still astounds me to see how bad segregation was but when the anger is channelled into words and spoken with such passion, I really start to feel it.

Good book, with the word "adroit" being used in every single chapter. Basically to sum up the book: be empathetic and nice. Not too bad advice.

2 hours and 37 minutes left in book. I'm enjoying it too much for it to be butchered by my bad reading/college balance so looks like I am going to be binging it before Monday.

Yeah I should have read a shorter book for break, but damn this book is interesting. A lot funnier than I anticipated but actually has a neat atmosphere.

Reading while there is a ton of noise and the part of the Thanksgiving dinner that slows down to a crawl. Learned I can read and comprehend a lot better than I can - and this still is a quality book.

Picked this up to see if I can tackle reading over break and yes - I can! Good book so far, but not high art. Unfortunately, the rest of the series has a bonkers average rating for each book so I am hoping that this book is good enough to propel me through the lesser books later in the series. Interesting so far.

Turns out I was doing all of these without even reading this book, but still, really well written. Really good book to read right before bed

Honestly thought this would be boring and common sense, and while the latter isn't too far off base, it goes out of its way to enunciate each point and show why it's important that it becomes brand new advice. Actually a really interesting book.

I have no idea what Harry Styles sees in this book. I hate to use the P word but it is pretentious at times with such obnoxious symbolism. There are interesting things but it's not worth sifting through all this.

Okay going to be honest, this book was really disappointing for its reputation in concept. Too much focus on the fallout, at the expense of character, rather than the build-up. Wish we got more Windrip. A lot of the story falls into extremely familiar tropes of today - makes it hard to care about much of what happens.

Enjoyment levels are around the same level as I did enjoy Fahrenheit 451, which isn't a great sign. First half was interesting, second half was not as captivating because it falls into tropes I'm all too familiar with. Wish it focused on the political aspect rather than how people cope with Windrip's rule and rebel. Feels like it goes for the easy way out.

So while I'm not super captivated by the book, fhiz was allegedly a satire before fascism became a huge problem in the 1900s, which basically everything came true in other countries not the US. Which dates the book in a weird way, the characters aren't super interesting, but the ideas are what's carrying this for me.

Honestly - this book aged poorly in the best way possible because a lot of this stuff can't happen here. It does fall into a bit of cliché and really wish they focused more on the political aspect rather than the sociological aspect, bc a lot of these characters aren't that interesting and fall into archetype. I like the book more for the ideas rather than execution.

Managed to sneak in a bit more. The book is more interesting for its concepts and writing; there's a lot of interesting parallels, but some of the stuff is still too absurd for me to buy (such as declaring martial law and sending all lawmakers to concentration camps). But that isn't to say that this doesn't get some stuff right and mirrors what we've been through.

Biggest flaw is that it feels like a summary of events rather than being present tense; however, that doesn't take away from it being a massively true "what if" scenario. So maybe limiting the power of the executive branch isn't such a bad idea after all

Okay so I'm starting to believe that this wasn't meant to be funny and instead just really depressing bc it actually rings really true. Wish it went more into how Windrop won the nomination, but aside from that I am spooked.

Well everyone comparing this to Trump also don't notice that it also digs at economic socialism too taking hold in the US. So...extra based. Dry writing, but the ideas being put forth are interesting enough for me to keep pushing through. Digs at social conservativism and diatribes against patriotic jingoism - also awesome.

Going to stop reading for now since the Audiobook is apparently infamous for having a crappy narrator and I don't think it's fair for me to assess it with that in the way.

Gonna be honest, this book is really boring so far. Which was a common complaint but oh boy did it live up to the hype of it having a problematic first few chapters. But the funny thing is I'm on Chapter V. Fun times ahead.

Audible read. Really boring first chapter so I'm absolutely thrilled to see what else is going to come from this. Heard it doesn't pick up until a few chapters later.

Biochemistry, chemistry, and physics turned out to be my favorite sciences. Am I smart enough to study them in college? Absolutely not. But this book was interesting, but unfortunately gets dragged down by the insistence of earth science - which I have grown to despise for no reason. If I reread, I will probably skip those chapters :(

Found out how much I don't like learning about fossils. Turns out, biochemistry is the only interesting science to have fun learning about. I am learning more about myself than I am from the book, and the various STEM avenues I could have gone.
