Period chapter is BASED ngl people really didn't know wtf was going on with women

Like the discussion of translating Latin "menstruus" into an even more complicated word of Old english. Menstration is a "monthly diseas" or a "moon-ly disease" and was once almost called our "Lunations" which I think is way classier - but some people hate the connection - imo

Somehow this is both in depth and lacking detail - it describes a lot of possible words for women's anatomy, but admits there's no real way to tell their origin or how they developed. They just did, and sometimes you don't know how until a few hundred years pass and some rando decides to describe a word a certain way
