Not sure how long this concept can be drawn out. They're literally just like a regular Christian cult but replace Jesus. The twist of who Vespers dad is and who she is is so obvious, the author is lucky I love her writing style lol

I love not reading summaries for the exact feeling of whiplash I got when it's revealed what church she grew up in lmaooo

I love the historical aspects of where common "witchy" things come from, I wish she had more citations or a longer bibliography. I also love how she compares classic witch tropes in stories to struggles of women just..aging or having bodies or having FUN and how that's seen as terrible

I like her "reflections" on the teenage witch, and how coming into potentially dangerous power always seems to happen around puberty. This is also part memoir, which I usually get annoyed at in nonfiction, and this only has a shred of relevance for now

Definitely more "reflections" than the cultural history so far, but still very interesting. And of course the "further reading" seems almost more interesting to me lol

Was interested to know about panda politics, and I wish there was a little more of the numbers on pandas in the wild, but nice shorter chapter

Love learning about the sloth bears, most people don't even know what they are. Really enjoyed the dichotomy between "vicious killer and tragic performer" throughout the chapter, and how people are semi responsible for both

interesting so far. I'll have to look into that Paisley woman's claims about El Lanzon not being a Jaguar?? But it's alright so far, learning a lot but i would like her to actually see a wild bear soon

This kind of "part 1" was alright, a little slow in the beginning. I want to know more about this darkness in Kate and get the real tension going

This is okay, good as an introduction/light read. Not really a women's history so much as showcase. Definitely needs another edit as there are a lot of repeated phrases and whole sentences sometimes

Yeah, this seems like a collection of instances throughout history that they SAY have a great impact, but not really explaining fully why that is the case. The fact that they are mostly starting with the Spiritualism movement in the 1800s is wild to me - what about the other 300 years of US history???

Loving this introduction, but it seems from the reviews that not everything can be taken at face value in this. Maybe a good starter book I'll pick out some lines from every now and then

adorable! love the detail in the backgrounds and all the character designs are super cute. Antagonist is pretty weak rn though, a spoiled rich girl who has family problems is overdone
