Didn't love the Mean Girl chapter. There's not a clear definition of what makes a mean girl and what really is their "purpose" in film. Partly about sexuality, partly about beauty standards and the inherent drama of being a teenager, and the point is?? This chapter could've been clearer

Like if her version of a Bitch character is only within the context of the corporate ladder, then yeah I do want to see it gone lol no more Girlbosses (even interesting ones bc no, we shouldn't want to climb the ladder. Break it)

There should be a bit more on the "Bitch's downfall" and the terribleness that is capitalism. The Bitch archetype is also eventually shown to be unhappy because the very nature of being ambitious in capitalism is unfulfilling. It's not because they go after what they want - it's because what they want sucks

Has an interesting deconstruction of why everybody hated #Girlboss almost immediately when it became a thing "an attempt to commercialize the unlikeable female character without paying any attention to actual character development through storytelling." And why I HATE girl power moments in movies

fr this is VERY cute and seeing the girls all get together and play this version of DnD is so fun!! Yes girl groups lifting each other up!! A lot of weird phrases in this, but has some good humor. Kind of insta love but I don't mind it since they've at least met before. This is the authors first full novel but you can tell this world has been in her head for a while with all the other characters (and the novellas on her page)

Love to see everything (and everyone) finally coming together. You can feel the "noose of hope" around everyone's neck and its great, heavy. Love the convo between Corayne and Dom in Cortael's old quarters, very nice of them to have a real father daughter moment

I'm not loving this, the characters are just okay. Not very likeable, especially Dafydd having some weird claim over Ffion for no reason.

There's great character moments in this. The plot so far has been VERY lucky for our characters, but it's still early. Sorasa cares so so much and I want her to have everything

I like that the pacing is a bit quicker, time wise. But they are just stumbling around and ending up in great situations. Erida has pissed off a lot of people tho hmmm I will call a bit of BS that Andry and Corayne just separately know to go to Iona?? Just because??

But also amazing to see Dom go absolutely berserk at seeing Sorasa hurt they are soooo family 😭
