Reorganizing my bookshelves...again. Going to categorize them by genre. I've separated the books by genre, now comes the tough part, sorting each genre pile in alphabetical order. I'm already so tired!!!

4th reread this year. I felt myself slipping to reader's block slowly in the past few weeks. Harry Potter always helps, need to start 2018 strongly.

Nooope! Nope, nope, nope!

Classic sci-fi are usually either too good or extremely bad. This is unreadable for me.

Abandoning it. I have no patience to read books I do not like from the beginning.

*spends 1 hour trying to decide the next book*

What the fuck is this world? Hahaha!

A God powered by steam and fire(is what I could gather until now) and whose death causes alarms to ring, quite literally, like when some machine malfunctions in a factory.

An necromancer attorney flying across land and sea, ripping off gargoyle faces and stuffing them in her handbag and feeling positive about the whole affair.

Completely intrigued.

Picking this up on a whim. I've not listened to a Librivox audiobook in a long time and I wanted to listen to my favorite narrator Karen Savage, she's awesome with narration.

This sci-fi won a Hugo award in 1958, the premise sounds very interesting. The low rating scares me, but I'm trying to learn to not prejudge books by their rating, so here goes.

I could keep off fantasy genre for only 1 week... And then, I'm back to it.

After the Cosmere binging, I was tired of the usual fantasy tropes. Knights, Warriors, Chosen ones, Kingdoms and stuff.

This series is a urban/steampunk-ish fantasy and it deviates from the usual fantasy tropes from what I've read. Apparently, the protagonist is a necromancer/lawyer

"Besides, he was one of those men who like to be observers at their own lives, any ambition actually to participate in them being considered inappropriate.

It will have been noted that such people observe their destiny much as most people tend to observe a rainy day.
"

Sometimes I do feel like I'm just an observer of my own life. Partly by choice, partly by panic-stricken paralysis induced by experiences.

Yuck!!! Holy shit, the nerve of Sweeney Todd.

A woman walks into Lovett's pie shop and asks her to put up a picture of her husband who's missing.

Todd gives her one of Lovett's meat pies and says, "Here, open the top and eat this. I'm sure you'll see something of your husband very soon."

Holy shit, that was sick! Don't eat the pies, guys, stay away from the pies!

Twisted and dark AF. I already know this story and yet this is gripping! Mrs. Lovett's pies, guys, stay away from Mrs. Lovett's pies!

The writing is too good, I love it.

I watched the musical starring Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman and Helena Bontham Carter long ago. I remember it as a thrilling and gruesome gothic story with a very unique setting.

Sweeney Todd's story seems to have quite a bit of history as there is a lot of info at the beginning of the book about the initial versions of this story as seen in stage plays and serialized fiction.

After a 5-6 month fantasy binge reading with 3 HP series rereads and an epic Cosmere binge, I should take a break from fantasy. Jesus, if I read any more fantasy, I might as well give up on reality, hahaha!

But I'm unaable to decide what non-fantasy to pick. Do you guys mix genres up to keep this sort of thing from happening? What is best after a heavy main course of fantasy?

The characters' interactions are unrealistic, even dumb. I mean, I'm an introvert and I talk sparingly, so I can understand people not conversing too much. But if I'm thrown into a different fucking realm of existence with a couple of my friends and strangers, I'd fucking like to TALK about what the eff is happening. Nobody asks Shallan. And Shallan doesn't say much.

I think I know who Azure might be, but how??!

Fuck!!! Wrong time for interludes!!!!! Aaaargghh!

I can sense that the battle is going to be taken to a whole new level. Or at least I hope that's how the follow up scenes are.

I wish SA books were fast-paced OR that they had more/consistent Cosmere-related information and links.

The problem with huge plots like Cosmere is that sometimes, when we have the actual scale of the plot for this universe fresh in mind, all trivial scenes in individual books seem like an annoyance. I'm finding it more so after binge reading Cosmere, leaving SA for the last which I'm sorta beginning to regret.
