We have all been there, Murderbot. We've all been there.

A robot works alongside humans in planetary exploration missions. It is trained to kill. It hacks itself.

Did that set the alarm bells and intrigue bells in your head ringing? Well then, read this first few lines of the book:

I could have become a mass murderer after I hacked my governor module, but then I realized I could access the combined feed of entertainment channels carried on the company satellites.

I just realized that the new suit-up mechanism of Iron Man in the Infinity War trailer is similar to the one present in Extremis comic. It is completely bonkers that Tony Stark has the suit stored inside his body and it just leaks out of the strategically placed punctures and forms an armor around him(in the comic).

A man is taken into custody and later admitted into a psychiatric hospital. He claims his name is prot, not capitalized, and that he is from the planet K-PAX. The psychiatrists call bullshit and think this guy has got amnesia or some illness.

I like the premise. Have any of you seen the movie "The Man from Earth"? I added this book to TBR when I was looking for novels similar to this movie.

I've I hadn't invested so much time and patience in this book to get to 80% with hopes of seeing something spectacular, I'd have thrown this book out of the window and not cared about it.

Nothing of urgency or consequence happens. Everything is vague. All the shit that is brought up at the start of the book is not even explained, and new non-sense is added so late in the plot. WTF. And the characters are bland AF.

They start. The fucking pangs in my heart. I hate reading love stories, no matter the genre, or all the lovey-dovey stuff. But damn me, if this book ain't a thorn in the effing heart. My willingness to read and reread this series borders on masochism considering the emotions I know I'd feel.
My repeated raging/raving talk about these stuff can be annoying to others, but books speak to everyone on different levels.

'I don’t think you’d want her pity. It’s a poor substitute for love.’

Only a conscious effort would stop one from seeking pity from someone for whom they have a unspeakably painful unrequited love. I guess. Or at least, that's one of the natural paths a heart takes when it can't deal with the truth of how vain their love had been.

Okay. I can't contain my fking excitement anymore. I was supposed to start a re-read of this book a few weeks ago as I planned a BR with a friend here.

Two GR friends are reading this right now and I can't see their updates without wanting to stop everything I'm doing and start reading this one.

Just thinking of the book gets me all emotional. What have you done to me, Robin Hobb!

God, do you know any books with ironies and coincidences as the main plot line. Like some fucked up theory or conspiracy about how things seem to happen right on time to produce the most excruciating and ironic of effects? Because if there isn't a fucking book like that, there damn well should be, because I want to fucking read some shit about such stuff and stop my mind from doing the thinking instead.

About Perrin throwing away the axe, Elyas says,

"You’ll use it, boy, and as long as you hate using it, you will use it more wisely than most men would. Wait. If ever you don’t hate it any longer, then will be the time to throw it as far as you can and run the other way.”

Damn, I had to remove this book from my shelf because I mistakenly marked it as read and when I try to change it to currently reading, GR is acting up wildly, assuming I'm reading for the 2nd time even though I'm deleting the wrong read dates. Lost all status updates on this book :/

Anyway, my last update was - Tor bookclub is offering this ebook for free until Feb 15.

I don't know what it's actually capable of but the scenes with it are unsettling.

Multiple POVs, finally! Just what this book needed!

There was a time when I couldn't handle multiple POVs narration. But then I read Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb. As much as that series put me through mind-numbing, dizzying onslaught of intense action through multiple POVs, I've learned to appreciate that narrative structure by the end of it.

How Rowling was able to leave that in the book and how Ron got off without any repercussions is beyond me.

The joke, the intention of putting it there and the followup of the joke are inconsistent AF.

They made a big deal of muggles seeing a flying car in London. But now that we have a car flying in the fucking space, thanks to Elon Musk, I think seeing a car in the sky isn't that much of an oddity.

It is more plausible that someone has invented a flying car than that no one in London has seen people running into an effing wall in the train station and disappearing. :D :D
