I really enjoyed jumping back into this world. I love that it doesn’t take itself too seriously and is fun to read. It was a bit of a tonal shift from the first half of the series but I didn’t mind that because they are all older and have been effected by the big showdown with darquesse, I kinda liked that you got to explore the ‘after’ of the big bad.

It’s mostly pretty sad how broken Valkyrie is, and skullduggery is trying to make it like the good old days but it’s not:/ omen as the brother of the chosen one is also a bit sad but he’s interesting and I like that even though hes maybe envious of his brother he still loves him, like it’s not like he hates him. I also like that fletcher became a teacher I just think that’s cool.China is definitely crazy

It’s fun to jump back into this world after so long. Valkyrie’s character is a bit sadder, understandably so but still. And the 5yr time jump surprised me but I like that you get to see the fall out, what happens to the chosen one after the big bad is defeated? What happens next? The relationship between skulduggery and Valkyrie is still the best

This was alright.I feel like the worldbuilding was a little messy and the magic system was all over the fricking place with simultaneously way too many restrictions while also being seemingly limitless in their abilities.The overarching main villain and conflict was really unclear until the very end and then it turned out to be a evil scientist?! Seems a little lame. The characters were ok though and it was easy 3.5

Gotta say I’m not a huge fan of love triangles anymore it just feels weird to have a chick obsessed with two guys who are basically the same dude just with different hair. Also don’t fall in love with your kidnapper, just no.

We’ll I think we all saw that it was too good to be true. Also a little confused about the rules of her godlike abilities and honestly why she needs them at all when she could seemingly wipe out everyone. Not loving program version of ward. Took a weird super hero turn but I’m down. There are a look of subcategories though and gone I’ve forgotten half of them 😂

The secret service and the president resuming the hunt for Evan is not going to end well and it seemed a little weird to me that the agent from the 4th one who let him go would now try to hunt him down again. But I guess the jobs the job and him breaking the terms of his pardon did have to catch up to him eventually. Very good book I liked it quite a bit. 4.5

The Mia storyline was pretty unexpected and sad, and leaving it on a cliff hanger is just mean but I appreciate that Evan was there for Mia and Peter. I also really liked that Joey was there too for Peter because they’re a little family. I loved Evan asking Peter if he needed his help, a cross over of his two personas and that he just sat and held his hand. That was very sweet.

Very badass finish of Evan cleaning up the whole cartel. I don’t know that I loved the whole Romeo and Juliet twelvie thing and I respect that Evan got mad over her stupid problems because like he said people are literally dying right now. Him getting a possible future contact in the ‘not’ cartel guy was pretty good too. Im glad that he went straight to Joey after to reconcile and hear her out about her trip.

This is a real sweet story. They both got lots of growth in this season. I’m glad they’re finally back together again. The drawing style is so good.

Evan is an utter badass! The whole Romeo and Juliet things feels a little tired, but Evan is awesome enough that I don’t even mind. I hated the big fight between him and Joey especially because it’s very obviously leading up to him having a revelation and ‘setting her free’. Mia possibly having a brain tumour seems pretty rough. It’s been good to see some more of Evan being a bit like the old orphan x

Also Evan seems a bit more ocd in this one than normal but that’s ok he’s trying to juggle his new life. Mia and him seem somewhat stable in this one which is cool. And I like Evan and Joey relationship, with it making the case personal given that the kidnapped girl is the around the same age as Joey

Wasn’t a complete and utter psychopath. Like the other guy is a fricking characature of an evil man, smoking crack and road hauling people all over the place. & Aragon’s workers are like a big dysfunctional family, whereas the baddies off siders are the absolute worst creeps.
So far there has been lots of philosophical talks between Evan & Aragon which seems like a bit of a waste of time given the circumstances

I am enjoying this one more than the last one but I’m not 100% sure about the ‘cartel’ guy, I understand that people are inherently grey but it feels like they’re really hamming up him being a ‘good guy’ in a bad business. Like him making the sofa bed for Evan and literally settling a crying baby while hearing out his people. I think this depth of character would make more sense if the other cartel bad->

I’ll admit I wasn’t super impressed by the last one so I’m really hoping that this one is better 🤞

This was alright. I skipped a few. It was a bit too twelvie for me and I don’t really see how the tropes were ‘transformed’, but it was ok. There were a couple good ones that I really liked but overall a bit too sickeningly sweet for me.

Pilgrim has a lot of growth in this one as he starts to piece all his broken memories back together. He’s a badass no doubt but I love that ultimately it’s because at his core he’s a protector. some very intense action scenes too that give goosebumps. Some good explanations at last too. But really I love that the foundation of this story is the connection between pilgrim and Lacey and him finding her again.

Some tricky twists that I had definitely forgotten. The reunion between pilgrim and Lacey is wonderful, like they’re in their own little world. I hate that it got interrupted by stupid Tyler. I feel like I maybe missed growth of Addison in bk2 but I just don’t like that kid, she’s creepy and now into the flitting man. I feel real bad for albus and if he reunites with pilgrim that’ll be real sad.

I feel like people are pretty harsh about pilgrim forgetting them, I mean the guy legitimately has brain damage! I remember now as you read this it all makes sense about why the voices are there and what things mean but if I were to try and explain it I think it would be really difficult. The chapters with ruby are sad because we see a much harsher pilgrim who wasn’t ready to care yet, like he does with Lacey.

Him seeing Lacey everywhere is real sad. I like that you get to see his past with ruby and albus and that you learn that he has actually been a part of the bigger picture this whole time. They call him Agur which means stranger, gatherer, because it is his role to get everyone where they need to be for the prophesied showdown. But all roads have always led to Lacey and everyone knows it.

The beginning is a flashback of pre end of civilisation, in a psych ward. And it’s tricky because you think it’s the POV of pilgrim but it’s not. I like that we get to find out more about his past before the first book.

Such an excellent book. Gives me goosebumps in the action and makes my heart hurt just the right amount. Pilgrim is a badass and the best protector. I really like Lacey too, which is a rarity, she’s very brave. I like that the three of them become a little family. I like that she gets pilgrims voice. An excellent book.

Poor pilgrim is so battered by this point. I just find the connection between pilgrim and Lacey so beautiful, especially because it is in a gritty apocalyptic book where it could easily be lost to purely badass scenes. But the heart of this book is really how much they love one another. I like how they reach for each other more and more towards the end needing that physical reassurance that the other is there.

This book is pretty gritty, but I just absolutely love the characters. I love that in this post apocalyptic world they band together so tightly. Lacey becomes pilgrims everything, even when he forgets everything else he still remembers that he needs to find her which I just love. Lacey is unbelievably brave and I like that she’s 100% accepted that Alex and pilgrim are her family.
