Mixed bag on quality so far, but the vibes are all there.

I'm seeing this compared to Mexican Gothic but I think it falls somewhere between that and Silver Nitrate. Also heavy vibes of youthjuice but without the dark comedy/satire angle. Also reminds me a lot of Last Night in Soho. This one is intense and about all those microaggressions and fears held by women, especially latina and hispanic women.

Woo, just got approved for this audiobook on NetGalley! So glad I binged youthjuice yesterday so I can start this one ASAP! I'm getting Camp Damascus vibes and gosh I hope it goes as hard as that one did lol

Another horror story that could be compared to The Devil Wears Prada? Two in a row? I feel spoiled lol

I get the reference to American Psycho and Devil Wears Prada in the description but what this story really reminds me of is the French cannibal film RAW (2016). It's the "is it brainwashing or delusion" slow descent into madness combined with all the blood that both stories share. Very much parallel stories; I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends for the MC.

I'm usually great at picking books I know I'll enjoy, though it's more difficult when it's an ARC, since there aren't as many reviews. I've seen friends on here reviewing this one, and the reviews are all so different so I wasn't as sure I'd enjoy this one as I usually am... but I am actually really into it? Definitely dark Devil Wears Prada vibes but with beauty influencers (content I regularly consume anyway lol)

Putting this audiobook on pause as I just got approved for another audiobook on NetGalley.

I think the author has seen Event Horizon almost as many times as me. The MC is borderline annoying unfortunately. Still enjoying the story though. It's more early Prometheus than Aliens atm but I enjoy both so not mad lol

Like Krampus this Lismore dark fantasy than horror. Still enjoying it, as I did Krampus, but getting over the Brom bait-and-switch. Are any of his books actually horror?
