Great story, fast paced, intriguing.

I'm thinking thus is just a filler book. No forward momentum at this half way point, only a lot of discussion of relationships and what is.

Wonderful so far. I love the mystery within the royal palace and the mix of the nurse and the police inspector social rankings. It's great to be back in Korea 1758.

Fully enjoying this story now! I have so many guesses as to what's to come. It's exciting!

So good!! If your a fan of any ghost show on TV or true crime for that matter, then this will be a fun read for you!

Wow! This story has a bunch of racists people, a very whiney girl who cries all the time and a lot of anger and hatred. I'm a bit surprised. I want to smack almost every character for reasons. I'm also very sad at the racism, hatred and bullying it's painful to read. That said, I'm interested to see where it goes and I do have hope the main characters has some growth. Until then I'm just holding on.

Heavy on the historical fiction, many details changed but many accurate. Love the personalities and morals of the characters. Very little magic until page 180-ish. Reads like the beginning of a series, heavy on the world building and situation with little movement forward until that 180- ism mark. Wonderful so far.

Jolly seems to grow weaker emotionally rather then stronger as the story unfolds. I don't like weak women. Also, the plot is still static and unmoving.

Good so far, interesting take on history. I like the writing but the story is a bit static. I need something to happen as it just feels like a lot of world building and then a holding pattern.

Ohhh... PLOT TWIST! That is a great one can wait to see how it plays out.

I'm loving this story! It's straight forward and the magic is so fun, the game is not an all out brawl, it's brains and faith. So nice to read magic without all the dark violence. Plus, everything Russia!

This is what I think a real pandemic would be like. This story is very atmospheric, slow and wondering and cold and about perfect in its telling. Lots of body horror, animal craziness and it sort of has a experimtation feel it it. I have ideas as to what is going on. Great so far.

The story started picking up about 30%. The author sure knows how-to draw the reader in. I'm interested and invested new. This is way different then I was expecting but I need to know the story. Also for some reason this reads very dark and grey and foggy to me.

Great still.

So far its all about a poor family and a sick kid. I hope it gets more about the magic and romance. It's rather depressing.

I kept putting this off because I thought it uf was dark but it really isn't. I'm loving it so far! What imagination and creativity this author has.

I love Shahrzad, she's honest, and reckless and full of temper and heart. I need to know more about Khalid. Don't care much for Tariq's chapters, hopefully that changes.

I have written down my guesses as to the mystery aspects, we shall see how accurate I am. This story flows. One minute I am starting a breath later on 100 page in. Loving it so far. I can feel every part of this story.

Triggers so far: Violent rape off page, suggested only, but tge bruises are seen and talking about on page. Massacre violence.

This story is beautifully written. I'm in love already!

I like the story, there's nothing "wrong" with it, I'm just not connecting to any asoect and it still reads dry to me. I will come back to it, but I'm moving on for now.

The beginning is a bit dry. Not a lot to keep me reading. I know there has to be world building but in this story, it's no making me want to continue.

I understand reviews now that said they wanted more zombies and canablesim. I also want more of the big cats! Most mentions are very subtle references, with the exception of a few scenes. Great story still.

I am LOVING this book. More giant cats please!! Lol.

Interesting so far. I was unaware this was three points of view, three different time periods and both told first person and third person. I don’t have an issue with that, just makes me read a heck of a lot slower. I'm very interested in where the story is going. Also, not feeling the Gothic yet.
