I’m starting to understand why people love the Space Marines (and McNiell) so much. This thing also just delivered a reveal that had me grinning like an idiot, especially since I read Xenos before this. Genuinely shocked at how much I’m enjoying this.

I’m past where the sample left off and THE ELDAR ARE HERE NOW! They rule. This is also getting into some of the crunchy details of the Imperium and now it works overall and it’s weirdly fun. It’s like 1776 written by William Gibson. Loving these so far.

Already WAY badass.

If you want me to like a Doctor, simply show me that Doctor interacting with children. This one already has Paul McGann giving a kid sweets and comics and I’m WAY IN.

In honor of TIME LORD VICTORIOUS and the looming Spooky Season, I started this. No McGann just yet but the “haunted kid” stuff has already started in earnest.

This is getting impossible to put down now.

This thing is just BARRELING toward its conclusion.

Well and truly in the last acts now. I think though Richards may have shot himself in the foot by having the zombie set piece BEFORE what’s happening now (the doctor and Peri are in different chases around the island setting). It’s nowhere near as exciting as the “zombie” stuff.

This thing’s gone FULL zombie movie now. Very much enjoying it (if the denouement is kinda busy rn)

How badass it is that Eisenhorn and his crew have a secret Latin based code-speak for use in the field (that Eisenhorn HIMSELF wrote)?

Might be TOO badass some say.

this book is VERY good about laying out all the rules and arcana of 40k but I wasn’t expecting how charming all the characters are. Eisenhorn’s whole team is so cool. you don’t really think “affability” when someone describes to you a hulking zealot in garish power armor who knows about 450 different ways to kill you but somehow Abnett nails it Gregor is such a weirdly charming protagonist. I don’t get it

Picking this up proper from where I left off from the sample of the Omnibus I feel like I’m gonna be okay owning all these digitally.

This thing is starting to get REALLY gnarly.

Recent events have kinda cut the legs out from under this one (so much so that I probably won’t even review it).

Still pretty fun(ish) though. It’s just hard to care about stories about cops rn.

Still trucking along. Just got to an HP Lovecraft shoutout and some really creepy seeding of the main problem.

Also Richards’ capturing of Colin Baker’s whole enthos and mannerisms is really good. He may be my favorite Sixth Doctor writer. I feel like him and Craig Hinton really nailed him in prose.

So far just a lot of a plotting and mood building, but it’s been a fun read thus far. Richards always gets good stuff out of Six and Peri. He is one of the few writers that really knew how and why they are charming.

Finally started this. One of my Quarantine eBay purchases. Another Justin Richards joint!

It’s been fun so far. Pretty spooky and atmospheric. There is a fun gag about how the Doctor just carries a bunch of random coins in his pocket just in case and then he chugged a beer. REAL fun y’all.

Gatiss captures Pertwee’s cadence and charm SO well, it’s crazy.

This thing RULES RULES RULES. I think it’s my favorite of these 50th Anniversary reprints so far. It’s really gnarly and isn’t afraid to get truly gross. Man, I’m way into it. I hope all of Mark Gatiss’ Past Doctor Adventures are this good.
