Ally can’t read. She responds by trying to fake her way through class. The result is that she has been able to pass each grade level (so far). However, other students make fun of her for not understanding what’s going on. They think she’s just “acting weird.” Because she’s been so good at fooling everyone, her mom thinks she just doesn’t care, and her teachers aren’t sure how to help her.

It is discouraging to note that the heroic character is able to be heroic because she has MONEY. [sigh]

I like the MC's resourcefulness, but the thing I'm most interested in is probably not going to be part of this story.

Plus, not gonna lie, this book is keysmashing some of my ick buttons. Some worn-out tropes should stay buried.

I chose this book because the eyes on the cover looked mysterious. I think this book will have a lot of suspense.
