This story makes zero sense: here we have the Gardiners abandon a missing Elizabeth in Labtom because they had an “emergency” and went back to London. Then the Bennets act like Lizzy missing for weeks is a scandalous nuance and they are mostly ok with that…

Of REAL PEERAGE LAWS is appalling. There is no realistic scenario ever in which a Peer of the Realm would “lose” his title when an heir turns 38, there is no such thing as “covenants” instead of Letters Patent. This is infuriating!!!

The use of “Lady Jane” for the wife of a Peer is bad form. Cheap mistake.

The magical world-building is very bad. The magic seems to be a hindrance to the characters and the story drags painfully through the thick molasses that is the badly written magic

Now this is weird; lack of logic everywhere, lack of communications, lots of plotting and unnecssary angst

Having Jane interrupt key moments of the story is a trope that’s been abused one too many times in this book — it’s beyond a joke, and straightout childish and annoying.

Pages and pages of character’s non-conductive internal dialogue !!!! What could have happened, what would have happened, what maybe happened…. how did it make them feel, how to they feel about feeling so, and then what would might have happened again. Tiresome, redundant, circular page filler, bad editing.

The angsty misunderstanding is contrived, and it drags on and on, needlessly ! I can’t take much more of this, Darcy’s mental torture is teenager-like, and based on nothing but unreliable hearsay, which he puzzlingly believes over his own judgement

The story is dragging, people rant and have endless internal dialogues, and NOTHING HAPPENS in forever… I am skipping pages forward because this is so frustrating and boring

Painfully circular, unnecessarily angsty, did I say circular ???? There is no growth or any adult thought process by this heroine…

This story has a lot of telling and no showing, endless recountings of the same boring “events” time and time again each time characters meet eachother. Also, plenty of lecturing, hectoring, preaching and scolding characters. I really hate it when authors want to castigate and push for “revenge” against characters they dislike by verbally humiliating them for the readers to see…

Too angsty, too much hurt, pain, anger, bitterness, regret, and sordidness

This author writes well, but her talent for angst and character torture is not to my liking. Having Lizzy humiliated, hurt, scorned, slandered, ostrasized, and even insulted (mostly at the hand of the hero) hardly a good romance makes…

The construction of the story is very strange: Darcy is a selfish despot who enjoys onesided physical intimacy with his wife, who can barely stomach his touch. Several scenes unfortunately come across as straightout rapey — quite hard to pull off a lovestory based on that !!

About 20% into the story, and Darcy is reveales to be lovers with a widow — bad start and incongruous with the canon background where Darcy is reticent, shy in company and not confident enough to woo Elizabeth

I can’t stand scenes of medica violence. Huge Trigger Warning needed there

It makes no sense; dragging story-line, cowardly irresolute hero, repetitive dull insufferable heroine. Mystery is boring and threats are nonsensical.

I strongly suspectes this author to be a cruel, senseless sadist, and now I have it confirmed

The Goodreads blurb claims Elizabeth’s youngest sister Kitty is called Caroline, which is a crass mistake.

This mistake does not reflect on the actual e-book, where Kitty is correctly named Catherine.

25% into the book and it’s just self wallowing, kidnap, torture, more torture and grumping. Not promising at all, and not moving anywhere yet…
