Lots of angst ranging from annoyingly stretchy, to delightfuly heartbreaking, back to irritating again…

I despise plots where authors seek to punish women in the story, be it Lady Catherine in this case, or Miss Bingley in other stories, there is a sadistic pleasure these authora derive in giving these characters a public set-down, humiliating them, lowering their position, or even sending them to Bedlam or he Hebrides, or giving them bodily punishment… very disturbing!

What fresh H*ll is this?!???

In which Lizzy only now realizes that a weird prediction by her dying grandmother might not actually dictate her future…

Problem is, if we believe her granny’s superpowers were true or real, the whole happy couple all Austen Variations rely upon are one big mistake ! How will the author fix this ???

A VERY strange tale in which Lizzie has a talking, all knowing magical stick (yes, a wooden stick!) that not only guides her, but also dictates o her what to do & what to say at every turn… in fact, the stick seems to be the narrator here!

In which absolutely NEEDLESSLY we find out that Wickham had indeed violated Georgiana (out of this tale) just to rub it in Lizzy’s nose how stupid, senseless, and disloyal to Darcy she really was in believing Wickham was a good man all over again after being warned and explained why this was not so…

This twist makes me think Lizzy doesn’t deserve to be Mrs. Darcy because she will end up dishonoring her husband

80% in, in which Lizzie WILLINGLY gets into a closed carriage with Wickham to flee Brighton because… reasons! (Insert eye roll)

I find that Ms D’Orazio’s writing, which used to be really pleasant to read, has turned formulaic and too full of tropes for true enjoyment of late.

Lizzy opening up her heart to George Wickham with unabashed candor, after long being informed of his dishonest duplicity and attempts against Miss Darcy is not only hard to believe, but it speaks against Elizabeth’s whole character, supposed moral superiority, and alleged feelings… bad call to set the stage in this manner.

Lizzy finds out about Darcy’s deception and she makes such a violent, thorough, and final summary of his sins, that’s absolutely certain [sarcasm] that their relationship is over, and the book should rightfully END at this point, with an epilogue about Elizabeth finding love with a new man…

What’s the point of a Happy Ending after such bitter vitriol?

A new mystery !!! Mr. Collins pops up in Longbourn and Kent (on and off) with no need to travel, or to spend a day on the road, or to plan a trip ! Marvelous…

There are serious edition problems here, the timeline doesn’t develop smoothly, there are errors in storytelling that make the reader question what we have been told (didn’t I just read this a few chapters back? If only character X heard so & so, why is character Y mentioning it now if he doesn’t know this yet ???

It’s mentioned here Sir William Lucas is a Baronet… that’s not true according to canon, since we know the Lucases were shop owners, and the father was town mayor before being knighted (a knight is also styled as “Sir”)

Unless the author intends to provide a different/alternate scenario where the Lucases are landed gentry (most Baronetcies were purchased in the 166-1700s), this is a mistake.

The story tries really hard to explain an illogical situation that stems from poor planning & execution of a trope; the story shows the 5 Bennet sisters as lowly Cinderellas working hard to keep Longbourn afloat, and as social outcasts since their father died… but problem is, it ALSO portrays their Grandfather Bennet still alive at home, & a financially healthy Longbourn!

So what gives ???

“ [she] could not turn her eyes from the scene of debauchery, with Darcy laying in the middle of his bed with his top bare and three naked women draped all around him...

Darcy had his hand on one of the women’s breasts while another woman behind him cradled his torso…

‘Elizabeth! Stop! It is not what you think. Stop and speak with me!’ “ — WHAT ?!??

The initial premise of the story is interesting, yet poorly executed. The storytelling is childish and rushed >> we are told Elizabeth is cursed and can’t touch a living being, but she is also happy and social and witty, while also awkward & shy because of her curse… Darcy “rescues” her twice in one day, and then we jump to them being bffs and lowkey courting “a few weeks later”.

80% in and this ridiculous fake title p*rn goes on & on! The author has made up a circus scenario in which The Queen has granted Lizzy the favor of erasing her Duke-husband’s name and change it to Gardiner for Lizzy & her unborn child, yet she gets to keep titles and wealth, as pregnant Lizzy makes statements about her husband’s line needing to be put down or ended off — I’m mindblown…

The use of titles and styles is atrocious!

Lady Lucas is UNTITLED, her husband is barely a knight, that’s an honour, not a Peerage, and for the wife of a knight, being called a Lady is a style of address, not a title

If Duke holds several titles, a subsidiary title goes to the heir apparent as a COURTESY TITLE, not subsidiary, the 2nd title is still the Duke’s

Google is not your friend here— make an effort !

“From the moment I met you, you have challenged me…” — have I mentioned how badly I despise whenever an Austen Variation uses the phrase “you challenge me”, or any iteration of it???????

The storyline is so nonsensical and illogical, that all of a sudden, Mary has left Pemberly and run away with Wickham (who had NOT made any appearance in the book before !!!!!)

An old trope, POORLY EXECUTED!
The story doesn’t flow, it leaps and drags, it jumps from one scene to another making very little sense. Then weeks pass by with short sentences explaining very little. Many questions arise and none are answered, important plot points are suddenly abandoned. Characters tele-transport across England with no rhyme or reason!

The pace of the story is very slow and dragging; the narration convoluted and unnecessarily complicated; the characters all unbelievably intuitive and “wise”, while also failing to advance the plot in any satisfactory way !

Dragging narration, convoluted plot, it tries to be angsty but all it accomplishes is cheap FARCE !

A cheery, cheeky story in which spoilt Kitty and Mary break a priceless family heirloom at Pemberley, that commemorates Lady Anne giving birth to Georgiana (shortly before she died), and Mr Darcy’s enduring love for his late wife — this vase was a significant symbol for Georgiana of the mother she didn’t remember… — do you see the failings here???

A mercenary Lizzy, with no concern for her reputation, takes on an unscrupulous & nonsensical offer from Darcy to play fake fiancée — this plot is absolutely ill-thought and absolutely historically impossible !

I had read this story before, most likely in fanfiction format. We shall see if I remember any particular changes or upgrades!

How many times can Lizzy beg him and humilate herself asking Darcy to PLEASE marry her ?!

Now Darcy’s BIG MYSTERY seems to be that he is gay… hahahahahha !

Almost 1/3 of the way into the story, Lizzy seems to think Darcy’s BIG MYSTERY is that he is either married or engaged.

Darcy’s BIG MYSTERY = it’s either epilepsy, or he is a warewolf! Either / Or

Repeated statements about how Darcy will strive to get Jane Bennet “with child” — I find it extremely distasteful and off-putting!
