So this "gentleman" insults her, threatens her, offers to train her to become "the best" courtesan, tries to force her to be put "in her place" and tells her she's not suited for polite society... such a gem !!

It grates on my nerves (and sensibilities) to see once again this brand of jolly promiscuous "heroes" -- in my opinion they should be relegated to annoying sidekick at best... I wish them well, but preferably far away from virtuous heroines...

I knew already, since about 10% in, this was going to be a tough hard read... it is quite complex and with a serious dose of social reality...!

Noup; I have a very low tolerance (none!) for men using prostitutes today and 200 years ago. Also, having the heroine pay for the hero's prostitution bills is just too much... !!

The ubiquity of the mistress in the Earl's thoughts is concerning -- why not make their love story the main focus here?? 🤔

Have a gold standard for books, it's about how unique, mesmerizing and absorbing they are, & how much of a book hangover they leave me with (for ex. Transcendence, Nine Minutes, Eyes of Silver - Eyes of Gold, The Golden Dynasty, Flowers from the Storm...). So if you have a thoroughly satisfying favorite you might want to share, please-please let me know !! 💜📚🔍

So now Lizzy talks about how deliriously happy she is at Pemberley. We have not seen any of that... how to interpret that?? Is just plain bad writing, all tell & no showing?? Or is this Lizzy lying?? 🤣🤔

This Mr. Darcy is a complete jerk, there's no affection or intimacy between Darcy and Lizzy as the brand new Mrs. Darcy... why should I keep reading...??

It just went from silly & illogical (yet fun) to just plain ridiculous and farsical... so sad!

This story is so amazing, adorable awesome characters and so funny !
Formally, it is angst free, but there is an undercurrent of suspense (related directly to the theme and the chosen plot) that is making me actually suffer... 😭😱 I really want *everything* to go well for them... snif !! 🍀

There is a very uncomfortable under-trope on K. A.'s books where "some" women are not deserving of having sex; either because they are not feminine enough, not giving enough (relating to men, of course), or just generally being labeled a "bitch"... it is disturbing to me, because it dangerously sets men's dicks in the status of ultimate-prize for good behaviour...

Prologue, page 1... K. A.'s distinctive grammar structure is all over this !!

Darcy is a cad and a seducer through and through, he is looking for a mistress, Lizzy is in such a diminished and vulnerable position she actually considers the position...

Darcy is a promiscuous prick who thinks of women as sexual objects to acquire and enjoy for a short while... I picked it up and plan on reading it out of curiosity of how bad this goes...

This is very slow and still I cannot see any story arc or tension point... so it is just Lizzy writting letters to Jane talking about daily life 😐

This is a disaster !!

This started out interesting; so far it is a disaster !! Lizzy is moody & skittish, married w/ Darcy for months still has zero feelings for him, zero chemistry, and dislikes his company and his touch -- they have hurt each other and this is the recipe for a marriage that is hell on earth... I don't see it as a romance at-all !!!

This is fantastic !!
The tone is on point, the voices are true to the character and the story arc is well planned and executed 💎👌🏼
A true gem !!

So, Darcy hates Lizzy after only 2 months of marriage. Lizzy is bored and becomes an insufferable intellectual snob a-la Lady Catherine. Darcy seems to be keeping a mistress & confidante, who, even if later on turns out not to be his mistress, is much more deserving of his affection & trust than this Lizzy -- why didn't he marry this Belle person instead???

This started out formulaic but quite entertaining. Now it's a bit of a mess with unlikely things happening, stupid misunderstandings & the most out of character attitudes & "sexy" encounters you could imagine... reads false to me.

Suffering through..!!

The plot is simplistic & childish, the writing style is candid and lacking any depth or nuance... a nice naïve historical romance maybe, but not good Austenesque!!
I would suggest these writers a change of genre...

Aaand the wine was doctored with some love-potion or something akin...
Tough choices... will it be 1 or 2 stars??

This started outrageously bad...
Coronel Foster is hosting a masquerade ball for singles and having a priest on site to marry up newly formed couples... it does not even pass as satire...!!
