Insomnia. Started reading this on my iPhone in bed, hoping I'd drift off soon, but now I'm 2/3 through it and not much sleepier. Good book, though.

Good book. Wish I lived in a world where his proposals would be carried out. :(

Following 1st 1/2 of Steak & Guinness Pie recipe to make stew for supper tonight.

Perhaps one day I, too, shall write a formulaic novel full of action and excitement. Probably not.

A worthwhile read, so far, though much I already know too well.

Not going to make it, tonight. Shame, too, since I so want this book behind me, rather than before me.

Ugh. Saying the negligée is "mauve and pink" doesn't hide the fact you're making reference to the Whore of Babylon, and in this context it's far from subtle.

Hopefully finish this tonight. Long TBR list I'm not getting through because I've been #writing, instead.

Skipping introduction, et cetera, so I can go into this in ignorance & experience the book by itself.

Going to try to read this before lunch, then play #CivV after.

I am determined to finish this book, now, despite its awful mediocrity & unsympathetic characters. Made good progress tonight, at least.

I've now switched to reading this in Stanza/iPhone because the MMPB is too inconvenient.

So glad I skipped the introduction & read the book first; full not only of spoilers, but of assumptions & interpretations not supported by the excellent text (which I just read in a single sitting).

Having been studying Hitler's early life, the parallels with this novel are striking. How many people had these same experiences growing up near the turn of the last century?

It was alright, I guess. Dated, more in style than content, but passably good.
