The characters are now catching up to things that were obvious to me 150-200+ pages ago. I'll give them another chapter or two to take things someplace interesting, but it isn't looking good.

We spent the first half of the book getting things in place, establishing characters, and getting the 2 POV characters to the same location—which drains all dramatic tension from this "life or death" situation; they certainly can't both die here, and based on everything to this point, I doubt either is in any danger. So stop pretending they're in any real danger, author! It's garbage, and we all know it!

Over-dramatic chapter-endings are beginning to grate. Dan Brown bad. A few more cheap ones like this and I'll quit reading.

Started yesterday—surprisingly, I'm continuing to read it, today!

Skipping (some) of the ones I've read before. Loving the hearty laughter Randall brings me.

Minus one star for comparing Peter to a young Hitler.

The rush to read this diminished when I realized I wouldn't be seeing the film until it reaches Netflix. Ah, well. It's due back this week; I'll read it anyway.

It doesn't occur to them they're over-fishing? I suppose the fishermen didn't notice until it was too late, either...

*sigh* On page 145, I smile. Turn the page and on 147 I frown. There's nothing worse for a couple of characters you're beginning to actually like than the appearance of the antagonist. Ugh. These books could be so much better without all these *villains*!

Apparently we're continuing the heavy-handed theme of cross-generational abuse, here. I hope this story finds it's way to another note...

I'd better finish this today, or I have no chance with Doctor Sleep tomorrow.

Really? A continuity error? In Danny's own, real-life memories? Feh.

Can't seem to focus on reading, this week. Going very slowly, when I need it to go quickly. I may have to wait and try again later. Say, December.

Frustrated to be so near to finished & need to stop for the night.

Well, there's midnight again. Better stop reading & go to bed.

For the first time I can recall in this book, I'm frustrated at a character for their plot-necessitated stupidity; Zula would surely have the knowledge of trucks & tools to immediately free herself with the tools described to me, not just lay down and plot future social engineering possibilities! Argh!

Won a signed copy for Mandy & started reading it to her, last night. (With voices, of course!)

Started reading this again while waiting in line for the new iPhone, and have been getting a page or two in, here and there, since.

Reached the end. Worth reading, if you eat food. Slow reading though, for me.

Endnotes&c start on pp357, so I only have another 55 pages to get through before I let myself go do something else. The information is valuable & important, but my mind has been having trouble focusing on it. I'm not sure whether it's the quality of the text or my own mind to blame.

Having trouble concentrating on this, tonight, but need to return it to the library Friday.

I'm into the section on fat, now, and all this talk of cheese is making me want to go eat some. 33lbs/year/person? I'm probably skewing that average upward, as a 'heavy user' of cheese.

Have been reading this all day, and its descriptions of all the ways cereal makers adulterate food to make us crave it just made me crave it more. Ate cereal for dinner.

Too much information; I'm on the verge of an anxiety attack from trying to imagine myself gardening. Reading gardening books is like trying to memorize an encyclopedia, with the threat of killing plants and wasting hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hours of effort if you can't hold it all in your head at once and then apply it all, perfectly synthesized.

I'm trying to keep in mind that studies have shown comprehension and retention are higher when reading information in fonts like Comic Sans... … ...no, really, the entire text is in Comic Sans. :(

I definitely liked it better before the introduction of an antagonist, not to mention all this obvious, tedious, repetitious plot. *grump*

...apparently my reading is interrupted. Will resume soon. (Ugh. Finding a lot of errors, and I've been over this text dozens of times before.)

Re-reading this today, so I can blog about it.

The coming-of-age ceremony has me all emotional, on the edge of tears. Some parts of this are much better than I remembered, and others follow "rules" I didn't learn until recently. It's a bit weird.
