This def has lost that cozy atmosphere of the first book, at least in this initial section. It's sort of like being shot out of a cannon in comparison...

Eeekkk, I can't believe I'm finally reading this!

One thing I have noticed about this new House of Shivers series is that the kids are more likable. We haven't really come across any cynical little twats yet, which for Stine, is pretty good. These characters have just gotten to Vermont and I'm excited to see how long it will take for mayhem to ensue!!

OMG, that was so sad.
I don't like his character, so it shoukd have been, but yeah, that living world scene hit me right in the feels.

I soooo wish Kiki would have come clean from the start, but yeah, I guess the book would have been a lot shorter. Can't she just make DudeBro disappear and move forward from there?! This is starting to stress me out. LOL -- I just want them to be together already!!

It's gripping. Just when I think I know what's happening, new evidence comes to light. I obsessed!

OMG, I completely forgot this was a companion novel to Well, That Was Unexpected, which I absolutely adored!

This is definitely the most heartbreaking of the stories so far.

It's interesting how long we are staying in the past --1946, Maija's perspective. I wasn't expecting that. I am not a big Historical Fiction Reader, but this serms well done. It's keeping engaged and wanting to discover connections to the present and Jessica's stay at the property.

Part III took an unexpected turn.
That reveal was so fun. Maybe some people saw it coming, but I did not.

Loving this. Toxic friendships are basically my love language when it comes to my fiction. So fun!!
