Mmm, I'm not super into this one, y'all. It's wayyyyy more Literary and less murdery than I wanted. There's soooo much character work and I don't really care, TBH. We've had a view moments where I thought it would dig further into the murder mystery, but then it ends up bouncing right back to character development.

I love where Piper's head is at now, because she's finally thinking of this as in infection.

Yeahhh, really getting just Literary Fiction and someone got murdered once way back at the beginning...

This is a different vibe than I anticipated. There's a lot of character work and not too much mystery yet. We've had murder, but I need a lot more amateur sleuthing going on...

I wish Stella had anyone she could tell about her situation. It's been dangerous, but getting more so by thr moment. What if she disappears without a trace as well? Who would fight for her?

Definitely an interesting premise, and Jet is a bit of an unconventional protagonist. So far, so good!

Or what about Kenji? Could he have faked his disappearance in order to pull off this whole charade? Starting to think Vivienne's betrayals are just a red herring...

Okay, now I am sus of the Mom.
She's unrealistically hostile to her daughter, and this thong about her ex being found in Sebago Lake...could she hsve done that?

Ooo, I think I know what's going on here, but why would they do that? There's gotta be something pretty big still hidden...

I haven't read this since I was a kid, maybe 6th or 7th grade, so I am really looking forward to rereading it now!

I'm very intrigued. Did Grorgia set this all up? She couldn't have, right?

The descriptions of these monsters are pretty terrifying. Just when you think it can't get worse, it does!

What about the husband, who is sus as hell, and Vivienne working together?

In high school, my best friend, Sarah, worked as a check out girl at the little grocery store in Bridgton.

Piper is pretty bold. Going to that house and asking to look around! LOL
I definitely would have at least brought a friend with me...

These characters have definitely started to grow on me.

I can't tell you how much I love him crushing beers in his driveway at 10 a.m. working with his chainsaw. My Maine Man.

You would really need to love these characters to be fully enraptured by this story...not sure I'm there.
