This book is arrestingly good. It's like (and this is an imperfect simile) a more adult version of the Wayward Children series. I wish I could just spend the rest of the day just reading this.

Regina screaming "we have to catch them all!" I wonder if Valdes wrote this whole pokemon-like plot just to have her character say this!

I'm so glad this novella was published. It's such a great twist on many familiar tropes.

Fascinating world. The magic system is very interesting as well, but I think this story benefits from it being less specified than it would be in a Sanderson book. The gender ideas explore here are also very interesting.

This book is SO good. It's both scientific and written in an approachable style. Also, the author does a good job reading their own book. (Not always the case). I've learned SO MUCH.
