I know I could look it up, but without doing so I wonder how old this book is. Clearly 80s or older based on the way it talks about computers and other tech. It's also got an older narrative style. Still, I'm enjoying the cloak and dagger of it all so far.

As far as I can remember, this is my first Tim Zahn book. Excited based on his reputation.

Structure reminds me of a golden age SF book. Lots of explanation of high concept ideas.

Seems like this is going to be a pretty dense book until I get my feet under me.

Strange to come from The Cosmere where the magic systems are understood to this one where we're as in the dark as the main characters so powers can come out of nowhere (seemingly)

As I learned from an intricate xkcd comic - the Mediterranean was indeed once dry land with a civilization on it. Whether it was anywhere near as intricate as Geonn Cannon is going to create for this novel, I don't know.

Perhaps a Lovecraftian enemy this time?

Learning so much

Just about done since a good 30% of the book is the appendices. Fascinating read.

The world building is on-point. But I'm not surprised since it's Sanderson.
