Kicking feet and squealing level of giddy @ the horse chestnut scene 🥹 takes me back to being 15 and reading p&p

Scene with Mrs reed was so poignant. It’s actually v powerful to not feel resentment at all.

Why is he marrying miss Ingram!! Where’s the idiots in love tag!!

On a less silly note Jane’s reunion with Mrs reed is like a glimpse into if me and my mom ever talked again ._.

LOVING this book!

Let’s see. Learned about Brunelleschi which is crazy. (Likely the actual inventor of perspectives/vanishing point!) his opp Ghiberti, his homie Donatello, his biographer uccello

Dante Petrarch and Borocaccio made an appearance in my “idiots guide for learning Italian” book! Love the synergy of all the Italian media/immersion I got going on hehe.

Learned about Dante, Boccaccio, Petrarch, hawkwood.

So funny that Dante’s epic poem divine comedy is basically his burn book from mean girls (where he put all of his opps in the different circles of hell lol) I need him to write a modern day version and put Clarence Thomas where he put pope boniface or however you spell it

Very illuminating book. Infuriating to read the insidious cast-maintaining maneuvers and extremely sad to read about the human suffering, but glad we read it cos and the framework of caste does explain a lot of the recent happenings… I wish she explained how a caste-less society is ever possible cos it seems to be human nature to other and to hierarchize…

(4/4) About the same level of hope I felt at the Bernie rally last week. The struggle and the message have been the same since long before me and will remain long after me. Until there’s nothing left to deforest and exploit and harvest…

(3/?) Historical fictions always teach me things about history and this book is no different. Definitely feeling a lot of feelings (whatever feelings the opposite of hopeful there are) about the environment while learning about the timber wars and civil disobedience back then.

(2/?) Thoughts on the book itself. I’m usually not a fan of omniscient narrator or weaving too many storylines together. The second half of the book is so action packed and character driven, it makes me wonder if the backstories of the characters in the first half were even necessary.
