This is an odd trilogy. I love Terry Brooks, I love Shannara and I was shocked by how much I loved The Word And The Void trilogy. This trilogy tries to fill the gaps between WaV and the later set Shannara books, and it does so very well.

But I become less and less interested the more the elves are involved.

This is one of the most charming YA series I've ever come across. Well, it's marketed as YA, I feel its closer to middle grade. It is adequately written, but has a charming maim character, fun worldbuilding, and interesting discussions of race, which I think is handled beautifully with enough of the real world between the lines to create a sense of inclusivity for many readers. A wonderful little surprise.

I genuinely felt so happy when the characters pulled up the potatoes that they had planted, and had a meal together.

Is this normal?

I honestly hate this dreadful book...

Wow. This book was removed from being in print by King himself, understandably due to the content.

But I'd have asked to remove this book from print simply for the fact its actually quote atrocious. Reading early King, in order of publication, I have to say between this and The Shining, I'm really getting bored of King's daddy issues.
