This book is massive, and so, so absorbing.

This is heavy going...and I love every moment of it. The scenes in Auchwitz...tenderly written and so utterly brutal.

I already read this once this year! Oh well, I'm loving it so much more this second time around.

Okay, I already read this book once this year. I gave it a positive review. I enjoyed the second book. So naturally, I should continue onto the following books, right?

Wrong!

I start it again, because I am itching too hold the beautiful Broken Binding special edition in my hands and enjoy the illustrations! Oh, and the second read is SO MUCH RICHER then the first.

Ryan Cahill, I salute you.

This is still a wonderful read. I feel a lot of modern fantasy is still trying to emulate this: Ryan Cahill, Philip C Quaintrell, John Gwynne and others are really taking the classic formulas and bringing them up to date for modern readers.

But that doesn't prevent Magician from being able to surprise and evoke joy in the reader. It is a wonderful book, with lots of surprises.

This is a beautiful book. It reads very old fashioned. People say these characters are one dimensional, but I feel people miss the many nuances on display here. I'm loving the characters and the story. The world is fascinating too. This is a classic fantasy in the most traditional sense, but also, for the genre at that time, very forward thinking too.

This is an odd trilogy. I love Terry Brooks, I love Shannara and I was shocked by how much I loved The Word And The Void trilogy. This trilogy tries to fill the gaps between WaV and the later set Shannara books, and it does so very well.

But I become less and less interested the more the elves are involved.
