The distressing parts of this makes it less enjoyable.

Very '80's horror movie' feeling

Quite straightforward and classic take on a werewolf theme this far. Cycle of the werewolf, Howling and Jaws (sic!) have come to mind this far. Well written, good characters (who I can't sort all the way out yet, but getting there)

Intense, fast read so far.

"The Goose Girl" coming up. This is more confusing than good at the moment. And I'm actually more anxious to find out how my buddy Edward is doing than where this book is going right now.

A long good part again, now, for some reason, I think the end is going to be a bit drawn-out...(?)

Right now swinging between great reading and terribly long-winded...

Several of these really stays with you. My guess is a long time.

Did not expect a particular part of the story. Still enjoying this, but It's hard to follow the husband. His head is not a nice place to be.

We're off to a very unpleasant start

Part 2: Shadowland coming up. Still not 100 % sure what this is or will be about - it's very well written and a pleasure to read though.

Haven't read any Straub in many years (well apart from Black House and a re-read of The Talisman). I like his writing, quite dense, but very absorbing if and when you get into the stories. And detailed - very easy to see them as films for your minds eye.

Deliciously surreal and very unpredictable. Can't begin to imagine what kind of ending this will have.
