Dida is on page 2 of 344 of A Spell for Chameleon (Xanth, #1)
Starting early with Piers Anthony, back before certain complaints about his writing style and plots emerged. So far it's semi amusing BUT I just started. We'll see as we go along.

So far so, pretty darn good. Golden's writing style and tone takes a few moments to get used to. It's more visceral and simple, yet it has a certain elegant poetry to it. I'm enjoying the heck out of this. Plus I like the way he and Mike Mignola introduced how this world works, a semi but not complete info dump. Basically an info dump done correctly. Can't wait to read more of this.

Absolutely love this book and Yanaba Maddock. One of my favorite McCaffrey heroines.

Completely forgot to update this, I'm really getting into this so far. Meadows does a damn fine job of balancing a character with low self esteem and a desire to succeed. I also like the fact that we didn't even get a shot of what color hair she had until a few pages ago, yet I didn't even notice. Good job.

Slightly different then my usual tastes, the fact that this book is a UTOPIAN novel intrigues me. Plus with the gorgeous cover (and the fact that it's about "souls" and reincarnation and there's a butterfly on it hits my Greek mythology nerd heart, considering the goddess Psyche was the goddess of souls and was portrayed with Butterfly wings...WHAT?!I THINK IT'S COOL OKAY?!), can't wait to start this.

Might need to start a flow chart at this point as we just went across probably a couple decades and more family generations then I can count. Still a brilliant book though.

Just got the stage set for the time and period and England itself out of the way, now to dive into what caused this war!

Perhaps the reason I've had trouble getting into some fiction is because I need to temper it with some reality. Just started but I like Weir and it comes recommended by a trusted friend so I'm excited.

So far so good, it's nice to see a fully developed Faerie world with it's own culture and words that aren't so ENTIRELY based on Earth.

Rereading this series because I haven't touched one of the books since the last one came out ages ago. I think it's time.

I've heard so much about this author I thought I'd give one of her books a try simply because a lot of what I've picked up and tried reading hasn't done it for me. So I'm expanding my interests into contemporary things.

So far, just what I've been looking for. A light heart adventure (so far) that's a nice break from the grimdark srsbizness of Game of Thrones.

I could only take the whimsy so much. I had to put this down for a while. I want to read some good middle grade but I'm not in the mood for frivously clever flights of fancy with whimsical nonsense for the sake of being whimsical. Perhaps I'll pick it up again. I don't know, this is how it is with EVERY Valente book I've ever tried.

When I was a teenager I definitely subscribed to the Jon Snow School of Adolescent Angst (tm). I think that's why I (and so many others) relate/related to him. On this run around, now that I'm a bit older I appreciate Catelyn more and her actions and reasoning. She's flawed definitely, but she's not an EVIL person which I appreciate more.

The whimsy is starting to get carried away and I'm reaching the same point I always do with Valente. She definitely has her own creative and unique style. However the problem is what was once a novelty becomes a bit too much. I'm going to finish this because I am invested in the main character September, whose a bit prickly and I love me some Prickly heroines.

Started over, AGAIN. I WILL get through this, I forgot how slow the beginning of the first book is, then I just flew through it.

There's only so much whimsy some readers can take and unlike China Miellville who seemed to think that with his foray into childrens lit he needed to whimsy his readers into a coma, Valente seems to just want to tell a story, which I appreciate highly. So far so good.

ThoughI know very little about this time period (haven't seen seen the play by Shakespeare!) I'm excited! A friend of mine absolutely loved this book and she has amazing taste. So far I'm enjoying it, even if I LITTERALLY just started.

So far it's a never ending flashback, quick cuts to the main cast as kids. But I can't stop reading, this Classic King man <3
