Dida is on page 119 of 384 of The Beekeeper's Apprentice (Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes, #1)
I never thought Mary Sue's adventures with Sherlock Holmes would be so...so...BORING, all mighty Buddha is this boring. She skips through years of important character development and dialogue I suppose to get to the meat of the matter, which is mainly, her and Holmes playing dress up and fooling the ignorant masses. Blah.

Getting a little better with respect to Watson, though Mary's arrogance with him is annoying. The writing style is also all right, though she sped through about six seven years of life in about a couple pages, I sort of wish she'd tried like a YA series with Mary and Holmes for us to see them bond, instead it's just "we talked, we were like old friends, it's awesome." Very fanfic like.

Excellent writing style, however I have to say-Lady? Watson is not only a brave war hero but a doctor...one is not a complete moron and gets to be a doctor and a war hero okay?

So after trying more books in my usual genre and not getting anywhere, I decided to strike out, into a new genre I've only read like...twice in my life and to my surprise I'm flying through this book. Very well written with memorable characters you actually like! I can't wait to read more in this series.

Welp, I'm completely devouring this. Despite the occasional moments where Rain's alpha male status irritates the shit out of me and I wish Ellie would whap his kitty face with a newspaper I like this novel a lot. Almost finished!

Giving this one up, I just can't summon the urge to finish it. Perhaps when I have more patience I'll try a Stephenson novel again.

Whoever said this wasn't a tightly paced or characterized novel was right. In a lot of ways it's all over the place and for some I can see why it's a turn off. The all over the place plot, and situations remind me all too much of reality, honestly. Though it's immensely readable, Stephenson has a great writing style. Hope it continues to intrigue, I want Nazi treasure shenanigans to ensue.

After a longish break, I'm returning to this book. I just needed to step away from the heaviness of it. Despite that I"m still loving it.

Despite all the other books I've picked up along the way, I keep coming back to this one as my main book I'm reading. Something about Roberson's style I absolutely love, as well as her use of description. Making me want to re-read "Lady of the Forest" again. Man I would KILL for a giant HBO miniseries adaptation of that book. One of the best Robin Hoods <3.

Golden and Mignola need to learn the art of not info dumping, but otherwise the story is pretty darn good. Getting weirder but I'm enjoying it.
