Loving this one. I'm on a YA reading rampage lately. Weird since sometimes I can't even get through one book and now, I've read book after book after book...all YA!

I wasn't going to return from lunch so I could finish this... but after 2 hours, I was feeling guilty. Great, great story!

Love the brother. The prose is going to make my brain bust though!

I really can't stop reading this one. Sometimes, a book, the characters, the writing, just works... this is one of them!

This is one of those... didn't meant to start reading it but the beginning scene... in the bathroom... caught me and I couldn't help but continue. oh and thank you book fairy!!!

I am a girl without a life jacket! I'm drowning in flowery prose struggling to find the story located on an island that seems so close but the rip currents make it oh so, far, far, away. (If you have no clue what I said, neither do I).

I have so much to say about this book so it's gonna have to wait until my review!!

Maja, Bonnie, don't kill me but I'm already at 71% mark. I rested so much all day that 1am rolled around and I was wide awake. So, I read till early this morning. I should have read a different book and I'm being a bad book buddy (again)!

Ok...now I can't seem to sleep since I slept the majority of the day away. One thing I do love about the characters... they are so imperfect. They make dumb mistakes, they still want normal things even in a non-normal world and they try to adapt. Of course, they also can kick ass if need be.

I really enjoy the story but I wish Mafi had some self-control with Juliette's internal combustion of poetic prose that seriously takes up 50% of this book. If we shut off Juliette's thoughts, we would have a 150 page book or less!

If I read book 1 & 2 now (instead of when I did read it), I probably wouldn't have given them such high ratings. I think some of the actions by Katie and Jenni would have annoyed me nowadays! So, it will be interesting to see how I feel about this book! The zombies are still top notch though!!!

NO I won't abandon her too! Stop using those guilt Ads for the ASPCA, they are working! If I could, I'd save all of them.

Lots of politics, deception, guilt. The verdict is still up in the air on the two main characters.

As you can see, I got into the book. I was wrong. I admit it. I like the story. Some scenes are way over the top. BUT, here is the big but (not butt), I can understand how a girl could see so much into the simple things.. a rain drop, a cloud, a boy smile, etc. since she's been so alone. That is why the prose doesn't bother me as much as other books. One scene bugged me but I'm running out of characters so....

ok. why is a guy in the room with her in a mental institution? so many questions. hopefully, there are answers. I hate the flowery language, grey skies, fat tear drops, whatever, bleh, bleh, bleh (I'm not quoting from the book), this language just doesn't work for me.

Please, can someone tell me, is Juliette scratching something off on a paper and then using different words. There is a weird scratching sound on the audiobook like she is crossing out a word.

I'm so not a Darian fan. She's not cocky, snarky, quick witted, or whatever you want to call it to make her attitude sound good, she is a BITCH. Maybe she gets better, but I'll let others read the book and then find out if she does before I continue with the book. Giving up for now.

I'm not wishing this on ANY character in this book BUT I cannot believe that Lina has not been raped by any of the soldiers and at this point, she's been at the labor camp for (I believe) at least one year. I know this is YA, and well rape is not a happy topic but from everything I've read, heard about, watched, rape of young/old women by Soviet soldiers happened often & early into their stay at the labor camp.

I FLOPPED down on the overstuffed chair in the living room that bordered the kitchen. Unfolding the slip of paper, I READ the mark's info..." EMPHASIS is mine. Ok. what the hell? I feel like I'm reading a laundry list.

Ok.. I'm reading Shaedes of Gray and Between Shades of Gray. How totally weird is that?

Might stop this to read Siege with Bonnie and Maja but until then, I'm off to read (ok not really, but I'm off to work then read)

I'm surprised I'm still alive considering this book has torn my heart apart.

I'll admit it...book is much better now. Still full of worldbuilding holes but the plot is more interesting now.
