War and "quakes" and later "gray ash"....ahhh.. can someone please give me some background. Anything?

At this point in the story, I CANNOT stand the main female character. She is such a selfish bitch.

"Of all the soldiers, of course they had to send Chase Jennings. The reason I was here in the first place". WTF? No you are there because you violated Article 5. He had nothing to do with you being arrested???

"He seemed taller than before, and bigger, even since he'd become a soldier." ok, that is fine but then you get "Chase towered over us at six three". The problem here it is in 1st person narrative (via the female narrator "Ember") so she is saying he "seemed taller than before" AND that he is "six three". I'm not explaining this right but something about this 1st person narrative seems off.

Didn't they notice she had layers on and food hidden when they searched her??????

Ok...so my law books are slapping me in my face as I read this book. Ok, please tell me what the wars were about? Why Ex Post Facto laws are allowed? What happened to the Bill of Rights? Why must Ember freak over her mom? I need answers people!!!! Oh and The Handmaids Tale is one of my favorite books so I'm not happy with the similarities!!! Don't ruin a good thing. Keeping an open mind. I am. I swear!

I'm SO happy I had this book on hand after book 2.

This book reminds me of soooo many other YA dystopian books so far BUT I'm still curious.

I admit it. Lovin this. Aurora makes me laugh because what she says in her head has gone through my head more times than I care to admit. Case in point...at work, my co-worker's son came in. He's gorgeous. After he left, I told my co-worker, "your son has the biggest nipples". Yeah, not what I meant. I meant dimples...no clue why I said nipples (ok maybe a small clue but I swear I wasn't thinking naughty thoughts).

Does anyone know why alot of my indie books on my bookshelves now have no cover. Unless there was an electronic madman that went around my bookshelves and tore their electronic cover off, there has to be a real legitimate reason for the missing book covers?

Please someone, right now..take the caffeine away from the authors! This is speed pace. Wow, I'm out of breathe. Regardless, great, fun writing, absolutely hilarious characters, interesting story with twists. It's just so fast I feel like I did a double-shot of espresso and I hate coffee!

I just downloaded book 3. Since I know the ending to this book, I'm VERY happy to have bk 3 waiting. I've got a major crush on Kalle Fucking Blomkvist

Is it just me or is the pacing in this book too fast?? I can't believe I'm saying that since usually I'll argue the opposite. It just seems something happens, I barely catch my breathe and figure out what it is when something else happens. Crazy.

Very fun start. However, I don't know if it is me or the book, I keep having to re-read parts because I lose my way. I may just be in lala land right now.

OMG... this is getting good. Even though I know the ending, I'm totally addicted. I never thought I'd like a mystery/thriller but this shit works for me.

This is a good example of some books that work for some people, while others don't. All the other ratings are 4 or 5 stars, so I'm convinced something exciting, scary, interesting, appealing, sexy or anything will happen. I'm still waiting.... and waiting... and hoping.

Why am I not liking this book?

Interesting but I'm not feeling the characters.

This is good stuff. I love the magic mixed with Hurricane Katrina actual history. However, so far, none of the characters are finding their way to my heart. Hoping for some character love soon.

Knowing the ending of this book makes it harder to enjoy. Also, not having Mikael and Lisbeth get any time together makes it hard. However, I'm truckin through since the storyline is interesting enough.

So I've been away for 3 days with very little internet time. (I was given a surprise party in Las Vegas). I haven't had a Kindle or a book in 3 days (though I don't regret it at all). However, before I was kidnapped for Vegas, I managed to read quite a bit in this and I LOVE it. It's like Angelfall for adults. Or Queen Betsy meets Barron or just a surprisingly good book.
