according to Kindle I'm on page 298. no book should have more than 300 pages, but I don't think it is going to end in the next 2. I've read bad books where they seem much longer than they are. I've read good books that seem much shorter than they are. but i don't remember reading a good book that just seemed to go on and on like this, and I've read the count of Monte Cristo multiple times.

I don't understand why he was away for two years, and seems to not know any of his former mentor's lackeys.

last part's been a bit on the slow side...

At 18% I've finally reached Part 1! I like how the magic works in this, and that's not something I say ever. Still not real clear on wtf is going on, but it feels like something is and that can be enough when the characters have sufficient short term purpose as they do here.

I like him. Occasionally wanders into long-winded description, but I can't think of anything similar to this I've read. On the other hand, Griffin has apparently never heard of chapters.

"She could tell Paul was in one of his moods." -- Paul having just been tied up and shoved in the back of a land rover by a pair of groundskeepers who caught them while Brigit was trying to climb the wall of an estate Brigit insisted they visit while Paul is currently hiding out from hired assassins trying to kill him as a result of a favor Brigit asked him to do. One of those moods.

9 years, 10 months later, still haven't read the first 3 kindle books in my amazon account.

Love the gradual peeling back of the characters. At first this seemed like it might be just a low key humorous mystery, but there's a lot more going on than it first seemed.

ah, book just upped its game :)

this has mostly relied on humor so far, but it seems some action is starting. still, this might be one of those good while you're reading but no particular urgency to pick up again when set down books

I'm finding this a bit more cheesy than I'm sure I did as a teenager, but I started three books yesterday and this is the one that's sticking.

is there some Abigail side story I don't know about?
