not dead, just distracted and not reading fic or keeping up with my GR emails. excited to see Destroy All Monsters showed up on my kindle recently, but not sure if I'll get back to fiction over the holiday or not...

Ugh. Roehrig is a really good writer, but it bugs me when first-person YA narrator describes stuff in terms no 16 year old ever would know or use.

I'm pretty sure the amount of time it takes me to read a book has a non-linear relation to the number of pages.

I am not sure 27% worth of things have happened, but I am enjoying it.

Not sure how some of the issues setup can be resolved satisfactorily, but that's ok. So far my only real issue with the book is my inability to really relate to the astonishing lack of self-awareness.

Mostly this is masterfully done, but occasionally like here, I have to stop and backtrack a bit because I've lost track of who's pov I'm in. :/ But back to the masterful bit, this is how I imagine classic rom-coms must feel, like Audrey Hepburn type stuff. I say imagine, cuz I've never actually watched any of them. I've never had the fucks to give some story about straight people with no murders or aliens, etc.
