ok, memory fox is ~100x more interesting than present fox, so 👍 but not sure how i feel about present fox's assessment of memory fox. hopefully things continue to improve

Not exactly loving it so far. Partly it hasn't given me much to latch onto yet, but also, the vibe of whatever place he's in is just really nauseating. All therapy/corporate speak, and "old wood" was mentioned but all I can imagine is the blank, milky white plastic heaven of the Good Omens TV show. But I will press on... for now.

Something about this feels a bit different from other Wodehouse I've read and I can't quite put my finger on what. Still good though.

Ok, there are going to be some breakpoints in the mega-chapter after all, what a relief.

this is only 250 pages, but if I don't get any time to read it's still going to take a while 😮‍💨 I'm quite enjoying it though. prose feels a tiny bit stiff, and one of the female leads is really obnoxious, but every one else is fun.

lots of law/justice stuff in the last chapters, next up is "semicolon savants" which, exciting! but omfg it's a 60 page chapter. that's more than a quarter of the book. 😖

Been switching between an ebook (standardebooks.org) and the Overlook edition, cuz lights, and it's weird. The paper copy is obviously a UK edition, and the ebook US, based on currency used, but the paper book has significant chunks of text missing. A line here, a paragraph there, etc. And I'm like... why? Some of the missing bits are funny. Some are questionable though, and I wonder if it's a censored edition.

An hour after I started this, a book I've been eyeing for a few weeks went on sale for $2, but this is funny so I'll stick with it.

This is quite lively and enjoyable.

Plot wise this feels like it should be much further along than 56%. So good though. :)

Have I mentioned I hate when the MC's a writer? And Preston Kingsley RichBoy the THIRD, are you fucking kidding me? What kind of stupidass name is that. Also, I love him and anyone who says a word against him is dead to me. FYI

Definitely not "cozy". It's gloomier than I expected. The love triangle finally gets spelled out around 20% and that was not what I expected either.

Struggling to keep track of all the characters, but so far it's good.

So far I have not remembered the solution from the TV episode, though I'm quite certain one was made from this. I remember snippets of it, but not the whole thing.

A whole lot of dialogue where people are recounting what supposedly happened. It's interesting, but I feel like his Cool & Lam books are much better, and I don't think Lam ever gives a clue what he thinks happened in those.

This is fine, I guess.

Reading my 4th Perry Mason novel. Which is actually the 11th. Picked this one because it was going to be the last Perry Mason novel when he wrote it, but it ended up doing better than expected and Gardner changed his mind about putting Mason out to pasture. It's hard to parse out whether the characterization is really as terrible as it seems or the difference between book and show just makes it feel that way.
