Well, the chapter on hyperbole was underwhelming.

it's still awesome, but uh, where is the murder i was promised? i have just the victim in mind. also if a certain pair of men I've been eyeing since they got off the train don't declare their love by the end i shall be very disappointed

Baldwin's short story collection.
The Rockpile - A vignette that is pretty clearly based on Baldwin's own family life. There's some tension for sure, and it's Baldwin, so there's nothing to complain about in terms of prose, but I wasn't expecting it to end so abruptly.

Reading other stuff too, but there's gonna be lots of manga the next week as I try to get my moneys worth out of the KU trial, having only belatedly realized there's a bit of manga available through KU.

Here's hoping Cereno escapes and Delano dies. This is such a slog.

It's managing a touch of suspense now, but omg is Delano a moron.

Second story, w trolls, also quite good. Maybe Markhat doesn't need a smart ass response every single time anyone opens their mouth though. Looks like the last story is going to be the longest of the 3.

A little confusing in the beginning, scene order and some details about the house didn't make sense to me, but apart from that, the first story was pretty good.

That point where you realize there's not enough book left for it to go where you were expecting and you get nervous.

Past timeline is a bit more exciting than current timeline, but it's good.

Lot of names I'm not even going to attempt to keep track of, but enjoyable so far.

Ok, it's quite funny now. I do think I was right to skip the school one though, not that you need to read any of Wodehouse's stuff in order.

Soooo dry. Picked this up cuz of a doc I saw based on it about his going thru life knowing everything could fall apart if anyone found out he was mixed race, but maybe that was all speculation. So far this is all on day X he went here, on day Y he went there. All data. No emotion. No feeling. Just bone dry chronology. Not sure whether I should keep going in hopes something shows up later or abandon it now.

No more cricket, thankfully. Psmith is tormenting their employer. Mike continues to exist. I haven't the foggiest how old they are supposed to be. What age is done with "School" but not university in Edwardian England.

Started this last night and it made such a bad impression I started over again this morning.
Problems:
1. Mike is incredibly boring.
2. First couple chapters are basically word salad due to all the cricket jargon.
3. Writing is uneven. Sentences dropping on the floor with a thud. No flow at all at times.
There are some funnies though. I will keep going.

I'm glad I picked this. It's def got a young feeling, but I'm really liking it. MCs are like 15, but supporting characters are adults, including a married gay couple.
