Fantastic.

Switching to non-fiction while I get the first draft of my WIP in done, so as to avoid any subconscious influence.

I'm coming to realize that I'm just not as big of a Murakami fan as I thought I was. The first 100-200 pages were engrossing, then it just sort of plods along a surreal path. I'm invested, I want to see how it finishes. But only slightly more than I want to shelve it.

Classic Murakami WTF-ness.

The scary thing is, I think I know someone like Peter Van Houten.

Loving it. As funny as a trainwreck could possibly be.

The first book in a while that I hate to put down when life calls. Positively fantastic.

Gorgeously written, but something really needs to happen soon to Ava. Her journey with The Bird Man is taking too damn long.

Beautifully written and very interesting. Really enjoying this one so far.

The heroine eats her pizza with a knife and fork. I hope she chokes.

It took me a while to accept the rather clunky use of cliched police terms in the first third of the book, but I'm glad I stuck with it. The story has really picked up and whereas I earlier found my mind wandering as I read, now I'm having trouble putting it down. Looking forward to finishing this over the weekend.

Not bad, but it's only doing the minimum to keep me interested. Seems like the writer learned a bunch of detective terms and tries to shoe-horn them in every conceivable cliched way.
