When you read this, and you definitely ought to, remember that this was written pre-COVID, before remote learning was commonplace.

Oh my. I just finished Part 1 in a single sitting and the book's premise is so original and the writing filled with such simple, robust beauty and emotion. As a big softy with too much empathy at times, I can already tell this is going to hit hard when the bottom drops. And it will. Only 50 pages in, but it already seems like this is could be the follow-up to "Never Let Me Go" I've been yearning for.

Listening to the (very long) audiobook. Started it on a road trip and are so close to being done, but only listening in small bits at night with the wife.

Not sure I'm going to be able to get through this whole book. So much about genetic testing, so little about food. Can't help but wonder how this won a James Beard award.

Really enjoying this book. A wonderful example of how well men-writing-women can be performed. It's a slower character-based study (though the plot is certainly intriguing). Upmarket bordering on literary with wonderful turns of phrasing and some of the best internal character development I've seen.

Absolutely loving this book. Saw the author speak at a conference a few years ago, got the signed copy, and for one reason or another, didn't get around to reading it until now. So glad I finally plucked it from my TBR shelf.

Kind of struggling with this one. The plot is satisfyingly sadistic and there's some clever melding of plotlines here, but yet I still can't keep my mind from wandering away every time I hit a pages-long dream scene.
